Ancient Egypt is widely considered the earliest great civilization on Earth and its mythology and culture continues to find a place in modern times. One reason for this is the epic figures depicted in art and immortalized on Egyptian walls. Horus, the god of the sky, has such an important role in the story of Egyptian culture that it’s hard to imagine that culture without him. The famous “Eye of Horus” is a symbol that not only finds its way through history but can be seen on today’s fashion runways. The story of Jesus is said to be largely a re-telling of Horus’ story and when we look at this figure from ancient Egypt we’re looking at the formation of Egypt itself.
