s man limited to seeing with his two eyes? Is it possible that he perceives the world around him or spiritual planes and even the future with something else? According to truth seekers going back thousands of years, man has a third eye, possessing remarkable powers of perception. To some it holds the secrets of the universe and connects one with God, to others it is tied up with our evolution and genetics as a species, but many agree that it does exist. The third eye is referenced in the Book of Revelation in the Bible, plays a part in Taoism, Theosophy and Hinduism. Although, the world’s religions are not the only to give credence to the third eye. Scientists and philosophers like Descartes believed the third eye was located in the pineal gland (a small gland shaped like a pineapple) and that it was “the principal seat of the soul. They noted that it was ideally situated between the two halves of the brain, yet separate from it, giving the spirit a perfect entry and vantage point. Interestingly, studies have shown

that fluoride affects the pineal gland more than any other part of the body. Some believe that efforts to add fluoride to drinking water is an attempt to subdue people by inhibiting their ability to utilize their pineal gland and consequently, their third eye or spiritual abilities. While many associate the third eye with the pineal glad at the back of the head, others believe it is actually located at the front of the head, in between a person’s eyebrows. In Hinduism they consider it one of seven major chakras or points around the body in which life energy flows. Taoism also shares this belief and it is believed that through meditation and “third eye training” one can tune into the vibrations of the universe. The ability to use one’s third eye is often credited with producing results like seeing into the future, accessing hidden mental images, and in some cases, having out of body experiences. Whether the third eye is in the front or the back of the head, whether it is an actual eye or just a concept people use to explain the unexplainable, the idea of a third eye continues. At the heart of this idea is that we are not limited to our bodies, that we are spiritual beings using bodies, that we can understand and perceive life in ways well beyond our physical form. In the end, seeing is believing.
