Casey Chia-Jung Chung Illustration 2012-2014
My name is Casey Chia-Jung Chung. I was born in Taiwan and I have been living in the United States for about one year when I was in college. My life goal is to strive for a place where no stray animals are living under threats, and of course, World Peace. My first three favorite things are drawing, reading and being a backpacker to discover new things. I am working as a freelance illustrator / picture book author at the moment, which I think is the most fantastic job in the world. I hope you enjoy my works and feel free to write to me! caseysushi@gmail.com For more works and real-time/random updates, follow me on Facebook (wink): Casey sushi
1 Don’t buy, adopt.
I drew a stretching cat and a dog with the white space of house. These ubiquitous coasters and stickers are designed to spread the idea of pet adoption. Acrylic, Adobe Photoshop 10 x 10 cm 2014

I don’t give a shit about breed. I adopt.
The work is more than a guide of dog breeds. With the hidden criticizing footnote, it questions the justification of commercially bred dogs and asks “Does it really matter that a pet is purebred or not”? “Do you really need to buy a purebred pet?” Once people stop buying and selling pets as if they are branded commodities, there would be more open homes for the shelter animals. Pencil, Adobe Photoshop 21.0 x 29.7 cm 2014

It’s a good day to
I took in the concept of Chinese calligraphy to create the dinosaurs. Then the T-Rex has got some tasks and taken up several changes because it would always be a good day to do so. I put together these square coasters to make a zine that can be given as a gift to congratulate for special moments. Ink, brush and Adobe Photoshop 21.0 x 29.7 cm 2014

Picture book: Song for the Spring (On-going work)

5 Christmas cards
Beside the joyful atmosphere and yummy food during Christmas time, little chameleon and his friends have some messages to share. Pigment ink pen, watercolor, Adobe Photoshop 15 x 10 cm 2013
6 Picture book: A Gift
A little girl found a stray dog near her place and wondering what she could give him in the freezing December. All the material gifts didn’t seem to work out, after all, what the stray dog wanted and needed the most is a home of his own! There was a thermometer-breaking day and my friend and I both felt like our feet are melting. My friend said carelessly, “It must be tough for the stray dogs.” Suddenly this question hit me, “What can we give stray dogs to keep them from burning their feet?” It was how this book started out. Color pencil, Adobe Photoshop 15 x 30 cm 2013

Comics
I like to draw comics to give a message or express an idea to the readers because a comic says only one thing at one time. In addition to entertain, it can draw people’s attention and sometimes create emotional resonance by its exaggerated or sarcastic figures and narrative.
