LOW RISE, HIGH DENSITY COUNTYARD HOUSING PROJECT BERKELEY ︳FALL 2014 ︳JEAN PAUL
The project is floating in the body of water east of the Cesar Chavez Park and the Double Tree. This goals of the project are to minimize urban sprawl by having one front elevation open to the access path and the other sides will be blind, and to bring light within through two inner courtyards or patios where should accommodate any extension of the activities within the house and remain private as high density reduces the foot print of the City and low rise allows the inhabitants to relate, above their heads and in privacy, with the four elements of earth, water, air and light.

SOUTH MARKET GOOD FOOD BUILDING BERKELEY ︳SPRING 2014 ︳LEGG YEUNG
The GOOD FOOD building, located within close proximity in the Western end of South Market, is a conjunction of multiple and varied programs centered around a common set of interests. They could generally be described as food awareness and education, changing the norms of mass food production, advancing food research, slow food, promoting and supporting urban farming and food production and the more general celebration of good, healthy, local food. Food Truck culture is unique to San Francisco communities which is my inspiration of my design.

CAL POLY DESIGN VILLAGE COMPETITION 2013 MAKE AWARD WINNER EMILY LEVI ︳EVAN MACCUDY ︳JONATHAN SETO ︳CASPER CHEUNG
“Make.Move.Play.” was the theme for the Design Village competition 2013. The weekend of the competition, teams are required to physically carry their materials into the experimental structures lab behind Cal Poly's campus; then, build and live in their structures over the course of the weekend. The goal of “The Kite Project” was to create deployable and nomadic structure that can adapt to any site and any situation while evoking a light and youthful feeling from a design standpoint. We came up with an origami form that folded into various position and could easily collapse. In order to achieve this, we needed something light and compact with the given parameter. We created an integrity structure optimizing the structural integrity and space with minimal material while also making a form that could adapt and fold in a variety of styles. The lone red kite stands out against the white structure evoking a nostalgic feeling of simplicity and youth. This panel can be removed to fly as a kite creating a physical playfulness in addition to the aesthetic play.
