As the leaves turn ... The days are getting shorter. Football season is underway, the trees are turning and the smell of Michelle Laird bonfires is in the Editor/publisher air. It’s a beautiful time of year in our community. We’re adding new events to CassCountyCalendar.com every day. Our team here at the Cass County Communication Network keeps expanding — you’ll notice
stories and photos published by other members of our team. What’s awesome is that we all believe in this community, just like you do. Below, our advertising director, Tony Dyer, takes on the notion of what it will take to get people more involved in the community. We just added a new section to the CassCountyOnline website – a local directory. It’s a place where you can find local businesses and organizations, but also where you can post classified ads. It’s some-
There’s nothing to do... I hear it all the time: Someone complaining about how there is nothing to do in Logansport. Then the next Tony Dyer thing you know, ad director I’m sitting at a community event that should have raised quite a crowd wondering, “why aren’t more people here?” So, I go home and start writing my thoughts out on paper. It was really quite a mess and would probably have looked like some ancient cave wall covered in illiterate man scribble to anyone else. Nonetheless, I was trying to figure out what exactly it is that sparks the interest of the people of Cass County. I had lists and lists of the different kinds of venues we have here. From art celebrations to athletic events… we have a little bit of everything. ..and that leaves ONE
possible solution. Nobody knows there is anything to do in Logansport. So how is this problem solved? What can we do to make events that should be popular, popular? Where do you want these events posted? When is the best time for you to see them? Does it take a personal invitation? Really?! If it does, we want to know. This is all about communicating, and we love telling you about how Cass County is such a wonderful place to be! If you have any ideas on how we can keep you more aware of local list-
thing that came out of listening to what our fans were asking for. We love hearing from you, so please take us up on the offers. If there’s something that we’re not doing that we should be doing, let us know. And if you love what we’re doing, we’d be glad to hear that too! In the meantime, be sure to check the FAQ at CassCountyOnline.com and make sure that you’re not violating any ordinances burning leaves!
ings and events, feel free to email me at, tony@cassnetwork.com, or you could always give me a call!

plans
The deadline to register to vote in the upcoming general election is October 4, and as of this summer, the state now offers you the ability to do it online — at indianavoters. com. You can also head there to update your information, view candidates on the ballot, locate a polling place or view the status of an absentee ballot request. In order to be eligible to register to vote, you must: • be a citizen of the United States • be at least 18 years old on the day of the next general, municipal, or special election, • have lived in your precinct for at least 30 days
before the next general, municipal, or special election (except for certain military voters); • not currently be imprisoned after being convicted of a crime. In order to register to vote online, you must also possess a current and valid Indiana driver’s license or Indiana State identification card. The State of Indiana will use your digitized signature on-file with the Bureau of Motor Vehicles as your voter registration signature. Only the voter registration information you provide and your digitized signature will be sent to your county
voter registration office upon concluding the online voter registration application process. If you do not have either of these documents or have trouble with this website, you may still register to vote by: • completing a Voter Registration Application (VRG-7) and mailing it to the appropriate county voter registration office or Indiana Election Division, • registering to vote inperson at the appropriate county voter registration office • registering to vote in-person at the Indiana Election Division. DID YOU KNOW? “Who’s On Your Ballot?” is an online tool, found at www. IndianaVoters.com, allowing voters the opportunity to view a complete list of candidates appearing on their General Election ballots. “This unique online feature will help better prepare Hoosiers before they cast their ballots on Nov. 2,” Secretary of State Todd Rokita said.
Help plan the direction for Logansport Parks & Recreation programs and activities. The department is asking residents to share their thoughts, ideas and opinions by completing a survey. You can find the survey online at cityoflogansport.org — it should take about 10-15 minutes to complete. It’s part of the fiveyear master planning process.

We wouldn’t miss it — and we hope you’ll join us. Take Clifton Avenue north of Mount Hope Cemetery to 1591 N CR 50 E and look for the signs.
