We’ve all experienced it: those pangs of jealousy and frustration while scrolling through an Instagram feed filled with super-fit people and their seemingly perfectly lives. Flick over to Facebook and it’s no different. It’s all green smoothies and workout gear, abundance bowls and sculpted abs. Meanwhile, we’re sitting on the couch in front of Netflix, feeling extra guilty for having skipped another day at the gym. Social media has become such an ingrained part of our lives that it’s hard to remember life before its existence. Now more than ever it’s easier to peek into other people’s lives – and compare them with our own. This can leave us feeling depressed and selfconscious . . . taking our frustrations out on a tub of rocky road ice-cream. Of course, we know nothing good can come of comparing ourselves with others, but it’s pretty hard to stop when confronted with it every day.
