Our goal has always been to produce knives that last a very long time, but we also want to take sustainability further. Our vision is to produce knives of the highest quality, with as little environmental impact as possible. By utilizing energy-efficient methods of production, coupled with natural and sustainable raw materials, we believe this is possible. Today, Casström chooses to use recycled steel wherever possible, wood from sustainable forests, and European vegetable-tanned leather. Our premises are heated using geo-thermal energy, and our electricity comes from carbon neutral sources. We are taking responsibility for our environmental footprint and will continue to develop our business in this way seeking to become even more sustainable.

About the designer:
Alan Wood has been a professional knifemaker since 1985 and has become the UK’s most emulated craftsman due to his practical and attractive designs. Also well known for his collaboration with survival expert Ray Mears. About the design: “The initial concept was to attempt to design a hunter’s knife that produced a tool of minimum dimensions which was still efficient in use. At first, it was for the large proportion of British deerstalkers who hunt for the smaller species such as roe and muntjac. However, it was picked up by others such as the Swedish hunter Jeppe Stridh as an ideal cutting tool for his country’s elk hunters in combination with a forest axe. Further research has shown that it is an adequate and popular compact belt accessory for those on safari, hence the name. Basically, an easily carried tool that can be used to remove the viscera and to perform basic skinning to save a trophy cape when far from the vehicle’s tool kit. “ / Alan Wood

Lapland Leather Wax
Casström Lapland Leather Wax is a wax that is optimised to protect cases, knife sheaths, and holsters to ensure that they maintain their rigidity and shape. Other leather greases, waxes, and oils available on the market are best suited for leather products that need to be softened to maintain their flexibility, such as boots, saddles, and gloves. In making the leather supple, these products risk weakening those leather goods that are shaped to a specific size to fit what it is supposed to protect, such as a knife. Lapland Leather Wax is Casström’s own blend of mainly natural products such as beeswax, carnauba wax, and neatsfoot oil. Classification according to CLP: Non-hazardous mixture. Net weight 20g.
