From Mr McKernan (Principal, Whole School)
Dear Parents,
Author Visit
Scottish educator Molly Arbuthnott visited Castle Park on Tuesday to conduct a writers' workshop for our Form I, II, and III classes in the Parker Library The workshop sparked lively discussions among our pupils, who eagerly asked questions about books, writing, and illustrating while sharing their creative ideas with Molly We hope her visit has inspired our young writers to continue their literary journeys. After lunch on Wednesday, a 'Drop Everything And Read' activity was organised on the front pitch to cultivate their love for reading and literature further.
Intermediate Summer Concert
Congratulations to our talented Form III and IV pupils who took to the stage this afternoon for their Intermediate Summer Concert. The two classes presented a variety of musical numbers, including songs by ‘The Beatles’ and selections from ‘The Greatest Showman’ We were also treated to a delightful performance by the Castle Park String Ensemble Once again, many thanks to Ms McKiernan and the music teachers for their guidance and support in preparing the pupils for this event I hope everyone who attended enjoyed the show as much as I did

Best wishes to our Form VI pupils preparing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation next Tuesday May this special occasion be filled with joy and blessings

Form V - Camp Out '23
Form V embraced the tradition established last year and set up camp on the School grounds for one night last weekend. With 26 tents accommodating 70 people, it was a lively gathering. There were non-stop activities, including soccer, bushcraft skills and campfire singing, with a bare minimum of sleep. Thank you to the School for facilitating such a fun event and to all the parents who set up camp, 'fed and watered' the campers and minded the kids. A special thank you to the children themselves, who kept us all entertained. I hope this tradition continues long into the future.

-Portia ReynoldsThanks to Max, Form II - Litter Picker Monitor
Max **** from Form II has taken the initiative to ensure that our School Play Areas remain litter-free He has successfully recruited a dedicated group of Form II pupils to work alongside him, and he has also provided training to volunteers from Form I Max devotes a lot of time and effort to his role as a monitor, including creating a litter duty schedule He recently designed commendations for fellow pupils who helped him These commendations were presented in Assembly by Max himself This hard work and dedication serve as a great example, raising awareness and emphasising the importance of caring for our planet Well done, Max and the Litter Pickers!

A Note from Max: “ I think it’s very important to keep our School tidy I have just trained the pupils in Form I, and I have recently given certificates to my helpers in Assembly. I am now looking for somewhere in the School to store my equipment.”

Early Years
It will be a busy week for children in the Early Years Department On Wednesday, Kindergarten 2, Junior Infants and Senior Infants will be visiting Glenroe Farm Fingers crossed, this beautiful weather will last until their big day!
Not to be left out, the children from Kindergarten 1 have a special treat of their own planned. Instead of taking them to the farm, we ’ ve decided to bring the farm to them! The Wooly Mobile farm will be paying a visit to the School on Friday, providing the children with an opportunity to learn and interact with various farm animals It’s sure to be an exciting experience for them
Can I kindly remind you to apply sunscreen to your child every morning before they come to school With more time being spent outdoors to make the most of the beautiful weather, it is important to ensure they are well protected

Georgian Dublin Door
In Form V, we have been studying Georgian doors. First, the children made observational line drawings of a door focusing on the style and detail of the architecture. Next, we made tracings of the drawings on transparency sheets which were laid on top of collages Finally, to add interesting detail, the children learned how to stitch around their door frame using a sewing machine We are thrilled with the results and look forward to showcasing them at the Art Exhibition next week!
