High Performance Protection Against Corrosion, Cavitation and Chemicals
AbraCor® Ceramic Brush - On and Paint - On
COATING • Designed to protect original dimensions of worn parts • Bonds tenaciously to many metallic and non-metallic base materials • Non-conductive, may be used to isolate dissimilar metals • Smooth coatings will reduce turbulence and frictional drag • May be applied directly to base materials or as a top-coat
DESCRIPTION:
TECHNICAL DATA:
Ceramic Brush-On and Ceramic Paint-On are two-part epoxides that each contain a high volume percent of superfine silicon carbide particles. When mixed the components react and cure to form a coating that will provide a smooth, corrosion and wear-resistant surface. Ceramic Brush-On and Paint-On are sister products will similar performance capabilities. They differ only in viscosity when mixed. Ceramic Brush-On is more viscous and is better suited for out-of-position applications where sagging is a concern. Ceramic PaintOn is lower in viscosity and is easier to apply in thin layers. In fluid flow applications the smooth surface texture of these products will reduce turbulence and frictional drag thereby increasing efficiency and decreasing powder consumption. Ceramic Brush-On and Paint-On utilizes state-of-the-art polymer technology to provide a coating system that will bond tenaciously to base materials such as steels, cast iron, copper alloys, aluminum and many rigid, non-metallic base materials. Brush-On and Paint-On have been formulated to allow application in-situ, with no special tools and without the use of heat. Brush-On and Paint-On may be applied directly to a base material or as a top-coat over AbraCor Ceramic Rebuild.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE: 1) Remove oil, grease and scale from the surface to be coated. To ensure optimum adhesion, roughen by grit blasting to achieve a 0.002-0.003 inch profile. For smaller areas, roughening with a grinding wheel or course sandpaper is acceptable. 2) Combine entire contents of resin and hardener, then mix until uniform, streak-free, light blue color is achieved. 3) Spread evenly over the surface with a putty knife, spatula or towel. Press the material into cracks and voids to eliminate air bubbles. Pot life is about 30 minutes at 75°F (24°C). 4) Apply a minimum of two coats. Allow the first coat to gel before applying the second coat. (Wait about one hour between coats.) 5) Post-heating with a heatgun/heat lamp held about 15”20” from the composite coating will accelerate the cure. Begin heating after the coating has gelled - about one hour after application.
