Will Davison enters this weekend’s Coates Hire Ipswich 300 with a brand new Castrol-backed Ford Performance Racing Falcon. Not one piece from Davison’s previous #6 Trading Post FPR Falcon has been carried across. The FPR team will bring a new chassis on for team-mate Mark Winterbottom at the L&H 500 in September, when he will saddle up in the
#5 Orrcon Steel FPR Falcon with Castrol ambassador, Steven Richards. Trading Post conducted an internal competition to name the chassis – originally dubbed FPR-1010. The winning name was ‘Kate’ – in honour of the recent Royal Wedding between the ‘other’ Will and Kate. It’s further fitting as Davison has just
returned from the UK, where he took the opportunity to visit the museum and head office of FPR’s parent company, Prodrive. He got the chance to view many of Prodrive’s successful rally, sportscars and touring cars. Kate is the 13th chassis that FPR have built from its Melbourne base and one the team hopes will be its most successful yet.
