INFORMATION SECURITY PROFESSIONAL TECHNICAL APPRENTICESHIP(FOR APPRENTICES) Why Become an Apprentice? An Apprenticeship is a great route into a career in IT and provides you with valuable work experience, whilst you learn new skills, gain qualifications and get paid a wage from day one. The qualifications you gain are delivered whilst you work, in a practical setting and training that you receive is on-the-job. Because you will be doing a job, you will also gain experience of working with a wide range of people, improving your communications skills and your ability to work as part of a team. COURSE CONTENT Inverness College as a training provider offers Technical Apprenticeship in Information Security , Telecommunications and Cyber Security for students already in employment. Registration and certification of the qualification is through the awarding body e-skills UK. The Technical Apprenticeship is a 12-24 month programme delivered in partnership with the student, employer and training provider and comprises of the following components, SVQ Level 4 units and Career Skills. The IT industry covers a wide range of careers such as IT Technical Support, Software Developer, Web Developer, Database Administrator, Cyber Security. The Level 4 SVQ will be delivered in the workplace and supported by college assessors. The Technical Apprenticeship will include career skills units at SCQF level 7 or above.

The Technical Apprenticeship Framework has been designed through its pathway structure with career progression in mind. Candidates can build on achievements and it is possible to progress from Level 4 to Level 5. The Technical Apprenticeship in Information Security Framework provides the best possible preparation to achieving skilled people within the industry. Entry Requirements It is recommended that candidates should have Scottish National Grades 4 (or equivalent) in English, Maths. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to; • Communicate effectively • Work within a team • Have an element of personal self assurance • Have the ability and motivation to learn • Be fit and healthy • Live away from home where required Experience gained during work placements whilst at school or at out of school clubs in a relevant subject will also be useful. Mandatory Outcomes: The appropriate SVQ Level 4 More information about units relating to individual routes can be provided on request. career Skills There is a choice of career skills units at SCQF level 7 and above. These will be chosen in consultation with the employer to ensure maximum benefit and relevancy
