CATA TURNS 25!
Your support leads us to a milestone anniversary When CATA held its first Arts In/Arts Out workshop in 1993, founder Sandra Newman sought to unleash the creative talents of people with disabilities, using the arts to connect them with the wider community. 25 years later, your support for CATA has created extraordinary opportunities for hundreds of people with disabilities. We have been able to nurture the creativity of our CATA artists only because of people like YOU who have championed our mission of inclusion. p CATA artist Matt Weinstein (Interlaken) explores new rhythms in our drumming workshop
To fuel CATA’s 25th year, we’re exploring a theme of CATAISFACTION—celebrating everything that fulfills and satisfies!
We have all witnessed the powerful transformation that happens when the creativity of a person with disabilities is tapped. That transformation impacts everyone from artists and caregivers to families and community. Together we can make this a year full of CATAisfaction, brimming with fantastic and wild evidence of all things that satisfy!

AT THE CLARK and the LICHTENSTEIN CENTER FOR THE ARTS This summer, CATA’s annual art show, I Am a Part of Art, returned to the Clark Art Institute and the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts for two stunning exhibits featuring work by CATA artists with disabilities. Over 200 original works of art were on display— one by every CATA artist in our visual arts workshops.

WITH THE WILLIAMSTOWN YOUTH CENTER For the second year in a row, CATA artists with disabilities helped lead a tour of our Clark exhibit for young people at the Williamstown Youth Center summer camp. Following the tour, everyone worked together on a hands-on printmaking project. The program offers a dynamic opportunity for young people and people with disabilities to explore art-making together, and strengthens CATA’s work throughout Northern Berkshire County. Sponsored by you, our generous supporters, and by Fund for Williamstown, a fund of Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation; and James & Joan Hunter.

AT THE STATE HOUSE In September, CATA’s Moving Company took their “Make Purple” choreography on the road, giving two commanding performances at the State House in Boston. The Moving Company appeared by invitation of Representative Smitty Pignatelli, who was inspired by the dancers’ response to political conflict and message of inclusion. The performances drew a rapt crowd by the State House’s Grand Staircase, captivating government employees and visitors alike. It was an honor to share our work in such an empowering setting! Sponsored by you, our generous supporters, and by the Massachusetts State House, Representative Smitty Pignatelli and the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

Meanwhile, programs continue to thrive in Pittsfield and South County.

CATA doubled workshops in Columbia County, launching A.R.T. painting programs and growing partnerships with CoArc and Camphill Village Copake.
p Chris McClendon (BFAIR) shares his drumming skills alongside faculty Aimee Gelinas at Mass MoCA
