Supporting the Catalan audiovisual industry worldwide

7th February-17th February catalanfilms@gencat.cat | www.catalanfilms.cat

It’s Berlinale 2019 and Catalonia is, once again, represented in one of the world’s leading film festivals. We’re delighted and proud that six films have been selected troughout this year’s program. Films that are a showcase of the new and the established generations of filmmakers that live together in Catalonia and that are shining in all major film festivals. Starting with Isabel Coixet’s newest production, “Elisa and Marcela”, which will be competing in the official section but also introducing new talents such as Irene Moray whose short film “Suc de síndria”, competing at Berlinale shorts, is part of our compilation Shortcat 2019, a selection of the best short films that will be released this year – contact us for updates! Irene Moray, Neus Ballús, with her film “Staff Only” - competing at Panorama - or Jorge Yúdice, whose short film “Cocodrilo” has been selected at Generation; are part of this Catalan New Wave of directors who are pushing the boundaries and creating a cinematic language of its own. Last but not least, two minority coproductions will also be present at the festival: “Brief story from the green planet” at Panorama, and “Baracoa” at Generation KPlus. The Catalan delegation at the European Film Market includes more than 50 companies between producers, distributors, sales agents or festivals, 4 young filmmakers at Berlinale Talents and 10 market screenings. Be sure to come by our stand but, above all: watch our films, you won’t be disappointed!
