Password: Fajara
by Séverine Sajous and Patricia Sánchez Mora Produced by Minoria Absoluta, Laudiovisual Documentary / 17’
Abstract phantoms of trucks cross the screen. Infrared images. This is where refugees are waiting in the hope of reaching UK through the Eurotunnel. “Fajara” is the Arab word for explosion. But in the Jungle it was a word for: getting through, making it to the other side, arriving. The images become abstract, semantics dissolve. A haunting film about the phantoms of meaning (of words). The Interior City
by Iso Luengo, Jorge Moneo, Andrea Ballesteros Produced by UAB Màster en Teoria i Pràctica del Documental Documentary / 24’
What’s it like to spend the whole day sitting in a chair, greeting residents and visitors while looking professional all the while? Many of us have wondered the same thing when encountering a doorman. The Interior City documents the entrances of apartment complexes designed by people who seem to have thought of everything except for the doorman. The silence and artificiality of a doorman’s professional life—perhaps partly spent in reflection or meditation— illustrates how utterly strange our everyday world can be.
