Welcome,

Thank you for your commitment to one of California’s last wild places, Catalina Island.

My childhood was spent in the Pacific Northwest, with treasured memories of much time in nature. Moving through a career that observed and documented the escalating environmental complications we are experiencing, I was deeply motivated by the Catalina Island Conservancy’s mission to be an exemplary steward of Island resources through a balance of conservation, education, and recreation. I see the responsibility to act as one of the oldest private land trusts in California. I want to give back, providing solutions that reflect the work you will help us do.

Resilience. I have been reflecting upon this value, call to action, and theme in recent months. It is rare to find places that can demonstrate the impact of direct conservation action; but in joining us in this Leadership Circle, you will be a part of that community and help us to stop writing the obituary of the planet.

You can see and experience this exciting movement now and every day. You will partner in our prioritizing the education of our children and all lifetime learners both onsite and online, helping us to motivate them about the importance of conserving our land, plants, and rare species.

As a member of our Leadership Circle, you become pivotal partners with us in restoring the Island for future generations through climate-resilient, fireresistant approaches, producing the transformational outcomes that will continue to restore vulnerable habitats and protect and conserve species.

You will help us guide the precious Island ecosystem recovery, fulfilling our ambitious goal to generate a resilient, self-sustaining ecosystem with no endangered species. And you will experience the benefits of recreational escape in the nature of the Island.

I am fortunate to be here in this time of opportunity that will reinforce the benefits of a community that stands together in a love of preserving this Island resource, a community that will make a profound difference in this world.

Thank you for your continued commitment and support.

Sincerely,

Catalina Island Conservancy

Just

off the densely populated Southern California coast, Catalina Island is home to approximately 4,000 yearround residents and more than 60 endemic species of plants and animals found nowhere else on Earth.

The Catalina Island Conservancy protects 88 percent of Catalina Island’s approximately 48,000 acres, including the region’s longest publicly accessible undeveloped coastline. As a research and conservation leader, the Conservancy protects and restores vulnerable habitats and species, guiding island ecosystem recovery with the goal of generating a resilient, self-sustaining ecosystem with no endangered forms of life.

The Conservancy offers recreational experiences and educational programs for not only the 300,000 annual visitors who choose to visit the unique and special Conservancy “Wildlands Ecosystems” but also inspires the nearly 1.2 million visitors to other parts of the Island. Recreation, educational engagement, service opportunities, and partnerships connect the Island’s unique resources to people’s lives, inspiring environmental stewardship and action.
