2 This is a personal portfolio. The dossier contains my recent artworks in these past mounths . The content varies from graphic posters, branding campaigns, newspaper , user interfaces to web design. My design process includes research, conceptual thinking, visual strategy, content development, and execution. I provide strategic design solutions for each of my projects and work small start-ups in both print and web environments.

Catarina Ferreira Born and raised in porto, portugal, i’ve lived a life of norther charm with a dash of southern exposure. over the years i discovered my creative side that came natural to me. My mother is an architect, and my father is a lawyer and this gave the perfect combination. I’m Ballerina since 4 years old and I also did swimming and dancing since childhood. I became more and more interest for the world of arts when i was younger, mostly because of my mom and her office . photography was the next creative endeavor i’ve pursued, and after discovering my eye for composition i quickly became interested in graphic design. While studying graphic design and art at Colégio do Rosário, and get to know all of the components of graphics design as photography, typography, offset, serigraphy I also had the opportunity to study the basic level of cinema, product design and artistic production. Along with design, i’ve continuing my dance career who includes comtemporary, freestyle, hip hop and Latin dances. Thanks to my personal experience and education i’ve taught to be cooperative, organized and be a leader. Always fought for good results never letting me stay for satisfaction but trying to achieve perfection. Methodical and focused are my best characteristics to achieve my dreams and goals, independently of all the obstacles you have to go through. I’m such a travel lover! Always looking for new experiences, meet new places, new people and new cultures. Love all the inspirations that I achieve in every travel. My best and special trip was undoubtedly when I was volunteering for Mozambique. Currently living in the beautiful seaside city of oporto, Portugal. I’m a third year Design student and working part-time in red bull, a full time curious person, a part time cooky and a never time sleepeer.

4 I’m a passionate graphic designer. For me, designing is not only conservative or modern but you must know the rules and break that rule to make a good quality of design. I enjoy graphic design, illustration, photography, typography, music, and epic design in general. I like to play with colors, fonts, and shapes—but I’m not a huge fan of the web, which is why I fell in love with printers. I’m great at working with css to make sure my nicely chosen fonts and colors are positioned well on the works. Ingrained into out daily existence, the reach of design is unavoidable. It has the power to make us feel, touch, want, and force action. It can ignite the fires of creativity and when done correctly can go almost undetected. Enamored by the scope of its potential, I ask my self a critical question. “Who do I want to reach as a designer?” I believe That you have to be the change you want to see in the world. What I do and what I did defines me, so I don’t really want to come up with those fancy words just to build me up.

22 Poster 50x 70 Uni Project There are thousands of fonts. There are many other variations. But still, there are hundreds of unique types dating from the sixth century. XV (the invention of printing), digital sources to ace this. Create a poster to advertise the purpose of the font. Each student will choose a font and investigate its designer, the period in which it was created and the characteristics that distinguishes it from others. The design should illustrate the formal qualities of the letter, referring to its historical context and evoking the character of the design.

32 Editorial Uni Project The purpose of the following proposal is to promote a reflection on the value of the work of a designer, the how this work is paid, the framework of internships, voluntary work, pro bono workand commercial work.


33 the invention of book pressing techniques resulted in an increasing amount of independent publications such as small brochures, pamphlets or handbills. independent self publishing has often been the only way for opposition members or revolutionaries to publish their own opinion outside of the established print media, newspapers and books.

one of the earliest and most important self publishers, thomas paine, published pamphlets like the extraordinary common sense with massive influence on american histor y. he criticized social grievances like slavery and expressed thoughts on american independence in different publications before he proclaimed the american independence as a democratic nation and introduced the term united states of america in common sense. the publication was sold over 500,000 times – to nearly a fourth of the american population at that time.

34 Brand Identity Uni project The increasingly oriented trend toward visual patent is a brand of contemporary society, we are a generation of readers moved by hedonism, the rush and the immediacy. The motivation to read and understand a message varies - different graphic arrangements provoke different reactions.This reaction determines the success of the work of the designer Development proposals for the visual and graphical disclosure of a film cycle dedicated to the work of American filmmaker Woody Allen material identity.

36 Editorial Uni Project The design involves the study of relationships, both formal and conceptual, that exist between visual elements. Working with typography involves studying relationships between letters, between words, between lines, between columns, between different types of text, between text and image, and between space and spot between form and content. The pagination is the overall consideration of these relations in a given space - the page .

38 Editorial Book Uni Project Where to seek ideas for a design? It will be able to use the same approach for all challenges? As the use of typography, color, photography, scale and materials may influence or amplify the message? This project will be asked to creatively the relationship between the content of a message and a visual form that expressed. Inserted in an exhibition on the career of Fernando Pessoa will be offered a gift to the guests, a publication inspired by a poem of the same. The project consists of developing a proposal for this promotional publication. From one of the poems of Fernando Pessoa (or its heteronyms), desenvolverรกs a visual band or clip chart - sequence of words and images printed, open to all the possibilities of experimentation and artwork, arranged in orderly succession of pages through which an idea, a theme or a metaphor that follows is developed, amplify or even anticipate the reception of the music itself.

52 Typeface Uni Project Typeface for script purpose created for the Typografic Studies class at ESAD Matosinhos. Following the theme “ophelia� now appears a script font with the entire alphabet in lower case, punctuation, accents and some liggatures. Were made some manuals sketches that soon passed to the digital design using the Glyphs Mini.
