SPORTS PROGRAMME SATURDAY 10 MARCH 2018

@CaterhamSport

Dear Parents and Players I offer parents, players, staff and official a very warm welcome to Caterham School. I hope that there are many closely fought encounters today and that all pupils involved go away enriched by their physical endeavours. While striving to win is vitally important, it is not more important than the sportsmanship and friendship that make sport so special and such an integral part of the education that we offer our pupils. With that in mind I hope that all matches today are played in the positive atmosphere that they should be. I remind all of us that we are all responsible for ensuring that the pupils are supported at all times. Please let us all applaud good play from both teams, offer our congratulations to the victors but also acknowledge the efforts of the losers. I have no doubt that every pupil will give their all today and that each and every one of them deserve our praise and support. We hope that you enjoy the hospitality on offer today at Caterham. We aim to make you feel as welcome as possible and to give you the best possible experience of the school. Yours in sport, Rob Clarke, Director of Sport

A message from the Head of Lacrosse Jen Simpson Another busy weekend for Caterham lacrosse as we host the 2018 Coloma Cup. We would like to welcome teams from Putney High School, Dunottar School, Claremont Fan Court School, Guildford High School and St Catherine’s Bramley. Looking forward to some fantastic lacrosse on display in the last U13 lacrosse fixtures of the season. The 3rd XII team will be the first team to participate in the National Schools tournament after a postponement due to snow last weekend. The girls will travel away to St Catherine’s, Bramley and see teams from all over the country. On Sunday, the 1st XII will head to Wycombe Abbey for the 1st XII National Schools tournament. This will take place over two days and the Laxcats will face the toughest competition in the country! Here we go Cats! Good luck to all LaxCats who will be representing the school this weekend. We are very proud of you all and the fantastic season you have had!

A message from the Head of Netball Jaclyn Leach

A message from the Heads of Hockey , Rob Mugridge and Peter Friend

This Saturday we have ten teams playing in what will be a very competitive fixture v Ardingly. We have four U14 teams (ABCD) playing today, which is fantastic to see; along with a 2nd VII, 3rd VII, U16 A&B VII, plus three U15 teams too (ABC). Good luck to all of our teams - have a fantastic afternoon.

Today, we would like to give a warm welcome to Eltham College in what is expected to be a challenging set of fixtures. I hope staff, parents and pupils enjoy their games and hospitality here at Caterham School. Best of luck to our 1st team who will be playing on Monday evening under floodlights. This week, our focus has been on elimination and ball carrying. The coaches have been thoroughly impressed with the attitude of the boys and real progress is starting to be made! The matches today versus Eltham have historically been a tough challenge, but one our pupils will no doubt rise to. I am sure the boys with relish the opportunity to demonstrate their talents on the pitch today and will look to implement the patterns of play and skills they have been working on in training. I have no doubt that the contests will be played in a superb spirit and, as always, best of luck to all pupils and staff today.

Code of Conduct At Caterham School we ask all spectators to: 1) Encourage players to learn the rules and play within them. 2) Discourage unfair play and arguing with officials. 3) Set a good example by recognising fair play and applauding good performance by all players. 4) Avoid belittling players for losing or making mistakes. 5) Accept the judgements of officials and recognise that they have a difficult job. 6) Support all players’ involvement and help them to enjoy the game. 7) Use correct and decent language at all times.

We love dogs - but please keep four-legged friends on a lead whilst on the School site and Hill Fields sports grounds. Unfortunately, where dogs go off-lead onto pitches foxes follow their scent and may mess the pitches. Thank you!
