SPORTS PROGRAMME SATURDAY 28 SEPTEMBER

@CaterhamSport

Dear Parents and Players, May I offer parents, players, staff and official a very warm welcome to Caterham School. I hope that there are many closely fought encounters today and that all pupils involved go away enriched by their physical endeavours. While striving to win is vitally important, it is not more important than the sportsmanship and friendship that make sport so special and such an integral part of the education that we offer our pupils. With that in mind I hope that all matches today are played in the positive atmosphere that they should be. I remind all of us that we are all responsible for ensuring that the pupils are supported at all times. Please let us all applaud good play from both teams, offer our congratulations to the victors but also acknowledge the efforts of the losers. I have no doubt that every pupil will give their all today and that each and every one of them deserve our praise and support. We hope that you enjoy the hospitality on offer today at Caterham. We aim to make you feel as welcome as possible and to give you the best possible experience of the school. Yours in sport, Matt Baggs Director of Sport

Head of Rugby Wade Kelly

Head of Lacrosse Pippa Waterman

It is a pleasure to welcome Reigate Grammar players, staff and parents to Caterham for our fixtures today.

We would like to give a warm welcome all schools participating in the U18 Surrey County Lacrosse Tournament.

With our 15’s and 14’s away, our under Senior and 16’s will be hosting our guests in what promise to be hotly contested matches. As always, we hope the boys exhibit the true values of Rugby; Respect, Teamwork and Enjoyment. May they play to the best of their ability, aim to improve on their last match and enjoy every minute of it alongside their team mates. The very best of luck to all of those involved in today’s matches and their seasons ahead.

This is the biggest tournament to date, with eighteen teams, including four Caterham teams, who will be battling it out on the Hill Pitches for the County Title! Best of luck to all schools involved. We are looking forward to a highly competitive and enjoyable day of lacrosse!

Heads of Hockey Peter Friend and Robert Mugridge Today we would like to warmly welcome Reed’s School to Caterham in what is expected to be an exciting set of fixtures. This is our first competitive match of the season and we hope the boys play well and enjoy their games whilst parents and staff enjoy the hospitality here at Caterham School. This weekend marks the first time for some to pull on the black and gold. I am sure they will be up for the challenge and put in a performance to be proud of. This week, our focus has been on elimination and manipulating the opposition defence to allow ‘D’ entries. The coaches have been thoroughly impressed with the attitude of the boys and real progress has been made over the first few weeks of the season. I am sure the boys will relish the opportunity to demonstrate their talents on the pitch and will look to implement the patterns of play and skills they have been working on. I have no doubt that the contests will be played in a superb spirit and as always best of luck to all pupils and staff today .

Supporter’s Code of Conduct At Caterham School we ask all spectators to; 1) Encourage players to learn the rules and play within them. 2) Discourage unfair play and arguing with officials. 3) Set a good example by recognising fair play and applauding good performance by all players. 4) Avoid belittling players for losing or making mistakes. 5) Accept the judgements of officials and recognise that they have a difficult job. 6) Support all players’ involvement and help them to enjoy the game. 7) Use correct and decent language at all times.

We love dogs - but please keep four-legged friends on a lead whilst on the School site and Hill Fields sports grounds. Unfortunately, where dogs go offlead onto pitches foxes follow their scent and may mess the pitches. Thank you!
