SPORTS PROGRAMME SATURDAY 2 MARCH 2019
@CaterhamSport @CaterhamSport
Ama Agbeze, England Netball Captain
Dear Parents and Players I offer parents, players, staff and official a very warm welcome to Caterham School. I hope that there are many closely fought encounters today and that all pupils involved go away enriched by their physical endeavours. While striving to win is vitally important, it is not more important than the sportsmanship and friendship that make sport so special and such an integral part of the education that we offer our pupils. With that in mind I hope that all matches today are played in the positive atmosphere that they should be. I remind all of us that we are all responsible for ensuring that the pupils are supported at all times. Please let us all applaud good play from both teams, offer our congratulations to the victors but also acknowledge the efforts of the losers. I have no doubt that every pupil will give their all today and that each and every one of them deserve our praise and support. We hope that you enjoy the hospitality on offer today at Caterham. We aim to make you feel as welcome as possible and to give you the best possible experience of the school. Yours in sport, Rob Clarke, Director of Sport
A message from the Head of Netball Jaclyn Leach What a week! We were thrilled that England Netball Catain Ama Agbeze spent the day with us on Tuesday. Ama’s sessions with our players inspired us and gave a real boost to training! This Saturday we have a fantastic eight junior teams out playing, as we welcome Christ’s Hospital to Caterham. The first round will see our U12 A, B, C and D VII play, followed by second round matches involving our U13 A, B, C and D VII. Traditionally these matches are very wellcontested, and played with a great sense of joy and spirit. Good luck to everyone - have a fantastic afternoon of netball.
A message from the Heads of Hockey Rob Mugridge and Peter Friend Olympic Gold Medal penalty scorer and England Hockey star Hollie Pearne-Webb gave so many valuable insights into keeping focused under pressure at Tuesday’s Caterham School Society Insight Evening. I am sure all of us who attended will haved gained much from her wisdom! Today, we would like to welcome you to the start of the second half of the hockey season. The next few weeks are very busy with matches aplenty. This weekend, our main block fixture is against Dulwich College. This historically has been a very competitive and even block with some superb hockey played by both sides. Our U14C’s and U15C’s are travelling away to Royal Russell in what should be a very even contest. Both myself and Mr Friend are excited about the prospects of what all the senior age groups can achieve this scond half of term. We have been impressed by the attitude of all players and the willingness to improve and take new ideas on board in the early weeks of the season. We hope parents enjoy the hospitality and boys enjoy their games. We look forward to seeing you all throughout the rest of the season. As ever, best of luck to both teams!

Code of Conduct At Caterham School we ask all spectators to: 1) Encourage players to learn the rules and play within them. 2) Discourage unfair play and arguing with officials. 3) Set a good example by recognising fair play and applauding good performance by all players. 4) Avoid belittling players for losing or making mistakes. 5) Accept the judgements of officials and recognise that they have a difficult job. 6) Support all players’ involvement and help them to enjoy the game. 7) Use correct and decent language at all times.
We love dogs - but please keep four-legged friends on a lead whilst on the School site and Hill Fields sports grounds. Unfortunately, where dogs go off-lead onto pitches foxes follow their scent and may mess the pitches. Thank you!
