SPORTS PROGRAMME SATURDAY 9 FEBRUARY 2019

@CaterhamSport

Dear Parents and Players I offer parents, players, staff and official a very warm welcome to Caterham School. I hope that there are many closely fought encounters today and that all pupils involved go away enriched by their physical endeavours. While striving to win is vitally important, it is not more important than the sportsmanship and friendship that make sport so special and such an integral part of the education that we offer our pupils. With that in mind I hope that all matches today are played in the positive atmosphere that they should be. I remind all of us that we are all responsible for ensuring that the pupils are supported at all times. Please let us all applaud good play from both teams, offer our congratulations to the victors but also acknowledge the efforts of the losers. I have no doubt that every pupil will give their all today and that each and every one of them deserve our praise and support. We hope that you enjoy the hospitality on offer today at Caterham. We aim to make you feel as welcome as possible and to give you the best possible experience of the school. Yours in sport, Rob Clarke, Director of Sport

A message from the Head of Rugby Wade Kelly It is a pleasure to welcome all of the Reed’s players, staff and parents to Caterham School. As always we hope the boys exhibit the true values of rugby: respect, teamwork and enjoyment. May they play to the best of their ability, aim to improve on last week and enjoy every minute with their team mates. The very best of luck to all those involved in today’s matches.

A message from the Heads of Hockey , Rob Mugridge and Peter Friend Today, we would like to welcome you all to the last weekend fixture of the hockey season before the half term break. This weekend, our main block fixture is against Eastbourne College, this is a new block for both schools. I am sure that they will be a set of very competitive and even fixtures with some superb hockey played by both sides. The fixtures for our U15A’s and U16A’s are cup games which itself is an exciting prospect with the ‘winner takes all’ scenario, and advancement to the next round! Our U16’s B are hosting Skinners. I know these boys are exciting about playing and have been working hard in training. We have been impressed by the attitude of these players and the willingness to improve and take new ideas on-board in the early weeks of the season. We hope parents enjoy the hospitality and boys enjoy their games. We look forward to seeing you all throughout the season. As ever, best of luck to both teams!

Code of Conduct At Caterham School we ask all spectators to: 1) Encourage players to learn the rules and play within them. 2) Discourage unfair play and arguing with officials. 3) Set a good example by recognising fair play and applauding good performance by all players. 4) Avoid belittling players for losing or making mistakes. 5) Accept the judgements of officials and recognise that they have a difficult job. 6) Support all players’ involvement and help them to enjoy the game. 7) Use correct and decent language at all times.

We love dogs - but please keep four-legged friends on a lead whilst on the School site and Hill Fields sports grounds. Unfortunately, where dogs go off-lead onto pitches foxes follow their scent and may mess the pitches. Thank you!
