ArtSpace will bring some of the UK’s best professional theatre productions to the heart of Caterham with a fresh, innovative programme featuring awarding-winning productions from the Edinburgh Festival, the Brighton Fringe and festivals across the UK. ArtSpace performances and workshops are open to everybody, providing a new hub for theatre audiences in Surrey and Kent who are keen to see cutting edge, professional work in the local area. Our brand new Centre for the Performing Arts offers the perfect home for ArtSpace with an 80 seat studio theatre and 300 seat theatre
space – both hosting this exciting and diverse programme of performances and workshops that will run throughout the year. ArtSpace is curated by The Human Zoo Theatre Company, an award-winning, internationally touring theatre company based in Surrey.

Introduction to Oxbridge for Parents and Students
1.40pm Wilberforce Hall Continuing our lunchtime concert series featuring solo performances from musicians and singers. Parents and friends are welcome to attend this enjoyable and informal event.
7.00pm Humphreys Theatre An evening for Lower Sixth Form parents and their children to introduce them to the process of applying to the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge. Led by our Director of Learning & Teaching, Mr Kim Wells, two senior admissions fellows from both universities will be present. Oxford and Cambridge are both ranked in the top five universities in the world.

Caterham School Society Insight Evening: Medicine 6.30pm Guy’s Hospital, London Parents, pupils and all members of the Caterham School Society (CSS) are invited to the inaugural CSS Insight Evening, with a focus on medicine and medical research. The evening will provide the opportunity to network with parents, Old Cats and friends operating in a similar field of work or research, in addition to hearing from a keynote speaker. We are thrilled to welcome Dr Tim Tree as our guest speaker for this event. Dr Tree is leading research into the role of immune regulation in human health and disease, specifically focusing on
Type 1 diabetes. Dr Tree is not only a leader in his field, but a first class, entertaining communicator. The Insight Evening will be held at Guy’s Hospital in their 16th floor meeting and function suite with fantastic views across London. Places will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no charge to attend. Pupils are welcome to attend and details for senior pupils interested in pursuing a career in medicine will be sent out separately in due course.

The Drama department is delighted to be staging ‘Our Day Out’ as our Spring production. Mrs Kay’s ‘progress class’ from an inner-city comprehensive school in Liverpool go on a day trip by coach to Conwy Castle in Wales. Hilarious, chaotic and lively, the play celebrates the joys and agonies of being fourteen and growing up… Ticket price: £5

‘Austentatious’ is an entirely improvised comedy play in the style of Jane Austen. After receiving 5 star reviews for their extensive UK tour, we are delighted to launch ArtSpace with this dynamic production. Join the all-star cast as they create a riotously funny new literary masterpiece, based on suggestions from the audience. Performed in full regency costume with live musical accompaniment. 7.00pm The Centre for Performing Arts Aspire to be a graphic designer, architect or work in fashion? Want to know what it’s like to work in the music industry or study at drama school? Join us for this exciting and informative careers evening to find out more. Parents and pupils welcome.
Monday 13 March
The evening comprises performances from each class from Year Three to Year Six, Wind and Brass Ensembles, Prep Strings, Classical Guitar Ensemble, the School’s three choirs and the percussion group. The concert ends with a massed item involving all the children singing and playing. It is always a hugely enjoyable evening with a packed auditorium and lots of very happy children.

Humanities Symposium 7.00pm Wilberforce Hall The first Humanities Symposium will convene the school’s Heads of English, History and Religious Studies who will lead discussions based on the Reformation. Guests will engage with a range of art, literature and historical sources. This is aimed at pupils, but is open to everyone.
Fashion Through the Ages 7.00pm Library The Library will be the venue for an exquisite display of vintage fashion in March. Visitors to the Creative Industries Careers convention are very welcome to visit the display which will include a range of vintage pieces designed to impress.

Parents’ Association ‘Dexter’ Science Evening 6.30pm Science Department Parents are invited to come back to school to experience science lessons as your own children do. You will be treated as if you were a pupil at Caterham School and will have lessons in Biology, Chemistry and Physics! Places are free and will be in high demand. There will be a cash bar and complimentary nibbles.

The Government Inspector – Gogol Deayton Theatre Caterham Junior Rep Company perform Gogol’s famous comedy in a fun, physical style. A simple case of mistaken identity leads matters in the town to spiral hysterically out of control! More details will follow.

Junior Production Performance – Matilda 7.00pm Humphreys Theatre Caterham’s First and Second Year pupils perform an abridged version of Tim Minchin’s Matilda the Musical featuring famous songs and dances from the show. Matilda battles with the insensitive and cruel adults that surround her, eventually finding hope in her teacher, Miss Honey. The musical is supported by our puppetry club’s adaptation of another Roald Dahl classic story. Ticket price: £5

Film Festival 6.30pm The Centre for Performing Arts Join us at Caterham’s very own exciting film festival, where we will be showcasing pupils’ projects they have been working on throughout the year within Co-curricular Film and with the support of Dance, Drama, Music, Computing and Innovation and English. Films will be shown from the Prep Partnership programme, Senior and Prep Film Clubs, the BBC News School Report and various other projects. Mini workshops will take place, including an introduction to green screen and animation. There will also be a variety of performances throughout the evening. This will be a wonderful evening to celebrate all things film, and there will be a red carpet so dress to impress.

Yerma – Lorca 6.30pm Humphreys Theatre A new translation of Lorca’s powerfully poetic play created by Caterham linguists presents Yerma’s despair and obsession with motherhood in a modern context. The play will be performed in a workshop production, alongside tapas and a short talk about the translation process. More details will follow.

Our powerful and unconventional heroine highlights the conflict between individual and state, moral and divine law. Performed outdoors in our Orchard Theatre.
London Beach Rugby All day. Guildhall, City of London Run by an OC, Myles Waud, the London Beach Rugby is a fantastic day out for all sports fans! With a beach in the centre of the City, teams battle it out to win the 2017 Beach Rugby Champion Title. This year, we are entering an Old Caterhamians’ team, please do come along and watch, there will be drinks at a nearby venue for all supporters!
