SITE PLAN

0.1 MONTEPULCIANO Requalification and Design

Montepulciano is a worldknown Italian village sorrounded by the beautiful Tuscany landscape’s hills. Due to the relevant historical site it is quite a challenge to design in such a significant territory. The main goal of the project is to improve the accessibilities to the Church Square and to solve the problem of parking lack. Based on the need of different ramps from the new underground parking, we develop solutions with creative configurations and local building materials to portray a genuine impression of Montepulciano and promoting his outstanding landscape.

CONCEPT

1. Surfaces (terraces,...) 2. Lines (paths,...) 3. Points (Parking exit, panoramic viewpoint,...)

Lines are symbolized by the use of paths, points are transformed in multifunctional cubes and surfaces are shaped into panoramic terraces. 3D MODEL

0.2 MUGNONE CREEK Project of urban spaces

Mugnone creek springs out in th hills northest of Florence, in the Town of Fiesole; after crossin the outskirts of Florence, it joins with the Terzolle creek, and then with the river Arno after passing the Cascine park. Originally the Mugnone flowed into the Arno near the present Ponte Vecchio and the confluence of the two rivers was one of the probable reasons of the choice of the site for the construction of the ancient Roman city. Our teamwork develop the idea of the “Ecomuseum for the first area out of the city where all the cultural patrimony and beauty are reflected in different elements scattered all around along the creek, creating different spacial and social use.

0.3 UNIVERSITY INCUBATOR Requalification of University Campus The Scientific and Technological Center placed in Sesto Fiorentino, represents an important reference point for everything concerning the research and development of new ideas especially as a consequence of the presence of the Incubator dedicated to Antonio Meucci. The project develops big chance to create new connections taking advantage of the melting pot of relations (Sesto Fiorentino, Florence and Amerigo Vespucci Airport) and its closeness to the rural landscape of Parco della Piana.

SITE ANALYSIS

University is immersed in natural environment with relevant rural landscape, which is called Parco della Piana, now afflicted by the increasing urbanization. Moreover the area is interesting because of the precence of humid zones scattered all around where fauna and flora are protected and defended.

0.4 VILLA “LA TORRACCIA”, FLORENCE Restoration Villa la Torraccia was built in the XV sec. and now hosts the “Scuola di Musica di Fiesole”, founded in 1974 by Piero Farulli, legendary violist of the Quartetto Italiano. Just in front of the facade there is a spacious meadow sorrounded by centuriesold trees. I was involved in the restoration of the italian garden formed by four symmetrical flowerbeds enclosing a circular central besin filled with aquatic plants and water lily. Thanks to Historical documents we restored the two greenhouses with the original materials.

0.6 NAVETTA BRIDGE Restoration after a flood The competion was part of a national initiative for Italian designers and thinkers to partecipate in a creative intervention after a flood occured in Parma on 2015. The Navetta bridge has always covered a central role within the historical infrastructure network that was crossing the city from north to south. The project for the new Navetta bridge re-establishes the connection between the two banks of Baganza River setting on the old circuit. The design proposal for the new bridge is articulated starting from two main themes: The infrastructure with its construction, economical and landscape consequences. The urban system with the configuration of the new bridge and its connections with the context.
