Get Ready for Vacation Bible School 2022: Wilderness Adventure through the Sacraments
A message to all the children of our parish — jump in your canoe or grab your hiking boots and get ready to learn more about the seven sacraments at this year’s Vacation Bible School (VBS) program, Wilderness Adventure through the Sacraments. Kids ages 3 to 10 can enjoy a week of fun held across the St. Michael campus, from June 6 to June 10.
Thanks to a collaboration with St. Michael Academy, kids in pre-kindergarten have their own track to participate in the fun. Angelica Santos, Coordinator of Religious Education, organizes VBS.

“This is a chance to help children learn about faith and Scripture through music, games, art, activities, fellowship, snacks and lots of energetic fun,” she says.
We all know kids need to move around and experience things to truly learn. So, VBS offers plenty of opportunities for them to engage in energetic fun while on the path to Jesus.
“VBS is an important week because kids can reinforce what they know about the faith or be introduced to the faith in a fun way,” Angelica says. “This sparks the desire to
learn more about God, understand their faith and receive the sacraments.”
Since 2017, Angelica has been coordinating VBS, which took the form of a family camp for a few years. She loves the joy this program brings to the attendees and volunteers alike. Kids have the chance both to learn new faith concepts and review familiar ones. Adults can be engaged in this important ministry of the parish and meet new people along the way.
Last year, there were 78 kids and youth who enjoyed the week of fun. Angelica hopes to see parents get involved in VBS as volunteers to serve as an example of practicing the faith outside the home.
“Having parents involved in such a fun event is an opportunity for the family to laugh, dance, sing and learn together,” Angelica says.
Angelica invites all parishioners 13 and older to volunteer for VBS.
“We look forward to June, and we need many volunteers to help us make it a fun and fruitful VBS,” says Angelica.
The dates for this year’s Vacation Bible School program are June 6 to June 10. Participants need not be Catholic to attend VBS. If you would like more information, or are interested in volunteering, please email Angelica Santos at asantos@smcchurch.org.
