Lord, where are you? My heart is looking for you

In the quiet of a church we find a flickering red lamp. That is to show us that Jesus is there, hidden in the tabernacle. The tabernacle is that beautiful small cupboard above the altar. It reminds us of the tent in the desert where God came to meet Moses. The burning lamp tells us that behind the tabernacle door is a still more beautiful presence. Jesus is present in the sacred host. He is there day and night.

The risen Jesus promised us: “I am with you always until the end of the world.” After ascending to heaven, Jesus has kept his promise every single day for many hundreds of years. He hasn’t wanted to be separated from us for a single moment. What an extraordinary gift of love!
