The Girl Behind the Camera Hi, I’m Catie! I'm the senior photographer for bright and inspired girls. I live in the Dallas Metroplex with my husband, Centurion, who means the world to me, and our adorable black and tan dachshund, Kevin. Inspiration for my senior portraiture work comes from the girls that I get to work with. I'm inspired by all that they're doing now and their big plans for the future. When I was a high school senior, I didn't know that my senior portraits could be fun and personal, or that it could be a confidence boosting experience. It’s my mission to help teenage girls feel their best by uncovering their beauty both inside and out, and allowing their confidence to shine. I'm a huge fan of How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory, Parenthood, and Once Upon a Time (of course the list goes on! I watch way to much TV!). I love Nutella, reading magazines (I'm a fan of Glamour and Everyday Food!), walking my dog, and I'm on a quest to find the perfect red velvet cupcake. I believe that you should be celebrated in a way that truly reflects your brilliance. I strive to pinpoint what makes you unique and to reflect your gorgeousness through beautiful, lasting images. The Golden Hour When scheduling an outdoor portrait session with Catie Ronquillo Photography, you may notice that I recommend shooting during a very precise time of day - generally the last 60 to 90 minutes before the sun has completely set. This special window known to photographers as “The Golden Hour” is the period of time when the light from the sun is at its most perfect. With its long rays diffsued across the entire sky, the light creates a flattering glow and shimmer for picture-perfect skintones and deliciously warm portraits. During midday, when every ray of the sun seems to find its way to our delicate over-exposed skin, the shadows created are usually too deep in contrast to the glare. Instead of fighting the harsh light, it’s better to schedule outdoor shooting during the Golden Hour when the sun still works its magic but in our favor.
