Lateral North is a research and design collective established by myself and three colleagues based in Glasgow, Scotland. Investigating at international, national and local level scenarios for a future Scotland, we are also interested in undertaking small-scale projects and design work, together with re-imagining and translating research projects in collaboration with professionals and academics.

Responsibility for recording, summarising and reporting presentations and discussions on site to conference organisers.

Involved familiarisation with business plans and funding applications. Completed a week-long residential training course in Inverness which involved learning about interview skills, basic accounting skills, creating business models and marketing plans. These skills were then to be implemented within the company (Anderson Associates) to produce a timber kit housing package as part of a subsidiary company.

Employed April 2010 at Anderson Associates architectural practice for Year-Out work placement. Solely responsible for drawing output of office. Gained experience in all stages of RIBA Plan of Work; conducted site surveys; attended site meetings, with responsibility for Minutes; liaised with engineers, Planning Officers and Building Control and contractors (including kit manufacturers, plumbers and electricians). Familiar with the production of both Planning and Building Warrant drawing packages. Gained experience in working with Historic Scotland and within basic conservation parameters. Experience with working for a varied client base, from local authority/social housing to private clients. On numerous occasions had responsibility for running the office. Final report feedback was extremely positive and rated my contribution as excellent.
