DIRECTOR’S FOREWORD The Cat Street Gallery is proud to exhibit Adam Bricusse’s second solo show SACRED in Hong Kong,. Having painted many magnified subjects over the years, whether through electron microscopes or macro lenses, Adam’s personal signature symbol and literal ‘stamp’ has been a Scarab. From working on various subjects from Butterflies to Blood Corpuscles, Dragonflies to Pupae, it was time to address his subconscious affiliation with the Sacred Scarab. Scarabs hold great meaning and significance, opening one up to an entirely different atmosphere, to the elements and mysteries of the cosmos. With all its ancient symbolism and unchanging beauty, it has truly proved something sacred – ‘the eternal renewal of life’. Bricusse grew up between Europe and America. Studied at Central St Martin’s School of Art and The Ruskin School of Art, Oxford gaining a BFA and MA. He has been a practicing artist since then, having worked and exhibited extensively worldwide.
