We would like to thank you for your interest in our program and are excited to offer this set. As you’ve all seen the cattle market lately, you know it’s an exciting time to be in the cattle industry! However, as producers it comes with its own set of challenges. One of those challenges is selecting and investing in your herd’s future bulls and females. This is a challenge that we all face but it’s this actual challenge that started our program.
In 2013, God blessed us with the opportunity to put together several larger leases and we greatly increased our cow herd numbers. Wendy and I struggled to find bulls we liked that were reasonably priced and able to cover the large and diverse country we run in. We figured we would use our years of livestock judging expertise and AI abilities to start raising our own bulls. Today we run our cattle in very diverse country from 9,000 + ft in elevation of mountain country down to the irrigated pastures of Frannie. Our cattle winter on everything from grazing high desert grass to hay and sileage out of the feed wagon. We need a cow that can thrive in any environment. We also know most ag production cattle are sold by the pound, so as commercial producers ourselves we believe strongly in heterosis. Starting in 1995 when my parents purchased a forest permit up the North Fork west of Cody towards Yellowstone, we wanted to find a cross of cattle that worked best for us. Simmental cross cattle were the cows that proved they could adapt to elevation all while raising large calves at their side. We believe that an easy fleshing Simmental cross cow will work in any environment and bring in a larger calf.
For the past 10 years, we have sold bulls private treaty starting with our friends and neighbors and expanded to our current wonderful customer base who have helped get us to this point. We thank you for that and are proud to offer this set of cattle in our first ever live auction production sale. As commercial and seedstock cattleman, we understand the massive investment a bull is to your operation, and we appreciate you considering making that investment in our genetics. Rest assured years of planning, evaluating, and refining have gone into this group of cattle. We believe strongly in creating structurally sound, phenotypically appealing, and genomically marketable cattle. Finding cattle that check all those boxes is very difficult, but it is a pursuit we continue to refine. We are confident that you will find something to fit and improve your own genetics in this offering. Thank you for taking the time to evaluate the cattle and we look forward to working with you into the very promising future of this cattle industry.
God Bless, Jared Boardman Family

Elm Mound Charmer (Rose) was our pick from the Jewels of the Northland sale in 2022. She is what we are striving for in our program. Excellent phenotype and highly marketable in her genotype. We thought flushing her to Honor Guard would be a homerun and we couldn’t be more pleased with the results. These 5 brothers offer front pasture phenotype with outstanding genetic merit. All in an outcross pedigree to many of today’s popular red lines.
Lot 1 has been a phenotypic standout since birth. This flush offers a high quality outcross red pedigree. Every female is being retained and every bull made the cut. Get in on these studs!
ELM-MOUND CHARMER J421 Dam of Lots 1-5.
Lot 2 came really little. His recip dam was older so he weaned lighter but since he has hit feed he has changed as much as anything in the pen. He is the highest API bull in the offering and has a cool blaze face what more could you want.

CDI/NF HONOR GUARD 267H
Honor Guard is an outcross red bull who we were very excited to sample so we decided to flush to him. We bred heavily to him this for this years calf crop and can’t wait to see them hit the ground.
025M Sells as Lot 2.
018M Sells as Lot 5.
This bull is easy to pick out. He is moderate framed, big footed, easy fleshing and sound as a cat. You will want to keep every heifer this guy produces.
OMF Epic needs no introduction. We love the females and the bulls out of him. They are moderate framed, easy fleshing and sound structured cattle. We think this could be the best sire group and you will see why in person.
This was the heaviest weaning bull. From a great red cow purchased from our friends at Black Summit.
CLRS JEFFERSON 951J
We sampled some Jefferson semen last year and these bulls are stout made and the right kind to cross on some Red Angus cows.

SCHOOLEY KROWN 28K
We were big fans of Krown when he sold and we worked with Roman to get some units of him and 2 other K series bulls from Schooley Cattle. We were very impressed with how they all turned out. Next year be on the look out for a very large sire group from Krown. You will find the sons of Kash and Knight in the catalog to be very intriguing as well. We retained all the heifers we had out of these three bulls and are very excited to add them back into the herd.
If you sell calves by the pound look here!

W/C BULLSEYE 3046A
We purchased Bullseye as an aged bull because we loved the proven females he had produced. He bred cows here until he was 10 years old. He had great feet and he passes that on to every one of his calves. His females are absolutely fabulous, you will want to keep them all; trust us we have.
DIKEMANS JACE 31U
We have been impressed with these. They have hit the feed and turned into one of the most complete sets from top to bottom. He is an outcross sim-angus sire who offers tremendous genetic value. Get in on these guys.
Heifer bull potential with a great spread and even better look.

BSUM 052H
We had our eyes on this bull from the Lafollette family in the 2021 Big Country Genetics sale. We unfortunately didn’t make it sale day. But one of our great customers Ben Anson from the Pitchfork Ranch was there and ended up buying him. The next year I talked Ben into letting us buy him. We have used him heavily the last few years. His calves come consistently around 80 lbs. and go to growing. They really push down the scale and we have loved what he has brought to our herd from that standpoint. His daughters are bigger than the Bullseye daughters but they have been easy fleshing. We will calve the first ones this year. High quality, all around bulls in this group.

2025 PUREBRED SIMMENTAL PERCENTILE TABLE
2025 HYBRID PERCENTILE TABLE
ASA QUICK REFERENCE TO EPD s , INDEXES AND $VALUES
EXPECTED PROGENY DIFFERENCES (EPDS): EPDs are the most accurate and effective tool available for comparing genetic levels. In using EPDs, the difference between two sires’ EPDs represents the unit difference expected in the performance of their progeny. For example, if sires A and B have EPDs of +10 and -5, a 15-unit difference would be expected in their progeny (moving from -5 to +10 yields 15 units). Key to using EPDs is knowing in what units they are expressed. For example, if the above case referred to weaning weight EPDs, sire A would be expected to sire 15 pounds more weaning weight than sire B. If calving ease was the trait, sire A would be expected to sire 15 percent more unassisted births in first-calf heifers; in other words, if sire B sired 30 assists in a group of 100 heifers, we would expect sire A to require 15 assists. A percentile-ranking chart is required to determine where a bull’s EPDs rank him relative to other bulls in the breed. For more detailed information about EPDs and $ indexes, visit www.simmental.org.
Listed below are the units in which ASA EPDs are expressed:
ALL-PURPOSE INDEX (API): Dollars per cow exposed under an all-purpose-sire scenario.
(See $ Indexes for more details.)
BACK FAT (BF): Inches of carcass backfat at 475 days.
BIRTH WEIGHT (BW): Pounds of birth weight.
CALVING EASE (CE): Percent of unassisted births when used on heifers.
CARCASS WEIGHT (CW): Pounds of carcass weight at 475 days.
STAYABILITY (STAY): Percent of daughters remaining in the cow herd at 6 years of age.
DOCILITY (DOC): Percent of offspring receiving a disposition score of 1 (docile).
MATERNAL CALVING EASE (MCE): Percent of unassisted births in first-calving daughters.
MILK (MLK): Pounds of weaning weight due to milk.
MARBLING (MARB): Carcass marbling score at 475 days.
MATERNAL WEANING WEIGHT (MWW): Pounds of weaning weight due to milk and growth.
RIBEYE AREA (REA): Square inches of carcass ribeye at 475 days.
TERMINAL INDEX (TI): Dollars per cow exposed under a terminal-sire scenario. (See TI for more details.)
WEANING WEIGHT (WW): Pounds of weaning weight.
YEARLING WEIGHT (YW): Pounds of yearling weight.
YIELD GRADE (YG): Carcass yield grade score at 475 days.
$ INDEXES: Though EPDs allow for the comparison of genetic levels for many economically important traits, they only provide pieces of the economic puzzle. This is where $ indexes come in. Through well-conceived, rigorous mathematical computation, $ indexes blend EPDs and economics to estimate an animal’s overall impact on integrated commercial production. The same technology that led to the dramatic progress in swine, poultry and dairy genetics over the last several decades was used to develop the following $ indexes:
ALL-PURPOSE INDEX (API): Evaluates sires for use on the entire cow herd (bred to both Angus first-calf heifers and mature cows) with the portion of their daughters required to maintain herd size retained and the remaining heifers and steers put on feed and sold grade and yield.
TERMINAL INDEX (TI): Evaluates sires for use on mature Angus cows with all offspring put on feed and sold grade and yield.
USING API AND TI: First, determine which index to use; if you are keeping replacements use API, if not, use TI. Then, just as with EPDs, zero in on the unit difference between bulls. (As described above, index units are in dollars per cow exposed.) The difference can be used to determine how much a bull is worth compared to another. Put another way, how much you can pay for one bull compared to another. For example, when buying an all-purpose-type sire, you can quickly figure a bull scoring +100 for API is worth an extra $6,000 over a +50 bull if both are exposed to 30 cows over 4 years ($50 diff. x 30 hd. x 4 yr.=$6,000). A percentile-ranking chart is required to determine where a bull’s index value ranks him relative to other bulls in the breed.
For more detailed information about EPDs and $indexes, visit: www.simmental.org Important disclaimer: DO NOT compare index values of purebreds of different breeds, hybrids of different breed composition or purebreds with hybrids - our system was not developed to make valid comparison among these groups. Therefore, you must first determine the breed and breed composition appropriate for your herd and use index values to compare animals within that population.
