About Bull Development

Developed SLOWER, Keeping your Best Interest in Mind

This year Great Lakes Beef Connection has made some modifications to our bull development in order to enhance bull longevity and better protect your investment in our genetics. Our goal is to develop the bulls in a manner where they can so off their genetic potential but not sacrifice the longevity of the bulls. We want customers to be able to recognize their bulls after turn-out.

This year we weaned all the bulls the first of September and monitored health in our weaning pens for a couple of weeks. Thereafter, the bulls returned to grass for another 60 days and were fed minimal supplementation in large traps and harvested native forages to our region. We can say with confidence this is the most athletic and structural correct bulls we have ever marketed. We sacrificed minimal performance in terms of yearling weight and feel the bulls are in the perfect shape at marketing time. We understand bulls are a significant investment. We want our development process to increase bull longevity and the bulls you purchase be productive for years to come.
