BIDDING: Each animal offered for sale will be sold to the highest bidder. Each bid shall constitute an offer to purchase, and the final bid shall constitute a binding contract between buyer and seller. The auctioneer will settle any disputes as to bids, and his decision on such matters shall be final.

TERMS: Terms of the sale are cash or bankable check (U.S. funds), unless prior arrangements have been made. All settlements are to be made with the clerks of the sale immediately following the conclusion of the sale.

IDENTIFICATION: Seller offers each animal with a readable tattoo corresponding to registration. Buyer agrees to check tattoos for accuracy.

HANDLING AND RISKS: Each animal will be purchaser’s risk as soon as sold.

OBLIGATIONS: In the event of default in any part of the Terms and Conditions covering the sale by either the buyer or seller, it shall be the responsibility of the buyer or the seller to instigate any action necessary to bring about a fair settlement of any claims arising from this sale and to be responsible for any and all costs involved therein. The sale management assumes no responsibility, legal or otherwise, for the failure of either seller or buyer to fulfill their obligations.

REGISTRATION CERTIFICATES A certificate of registration and transfer will be furnished for each animal at no cost to the buyer.

Hereford Reno is always the super bowl of events for western Hereford breeders. It’s truly an opportunity to showcase, market, build friendships, and learn with fellow members. I couldn’t be more excited to be part this year in helping the Western State committee coordinate the Hereford Reno Sale.

We have assembled a diverse offering of lots that caters to several different needs within the Hereford membership. I truly believe that is key and what makes the Hereford breed so successful and unique. If you are looking to be involved in such a memorable junior membership, there is a select group of show heifers and a registered steer that can be competitive at any level. If you are a performance breeder that needs a breeding piece to add to your program, there is an intriguing offering of breds, herd picks, pregnancies, bulls, and heifer calves. Then genetically, we have a few very rare flushes and embryo lots that offer mating flexibility to garnish any Hereford members attention.

Welcome to Hereford Reno

After a couple challenging years, we’re back and working hard to be better than ever. We’re excited to be back to our live sale format at the Livestock events center on Friday night.

For over 57 years, volunteers have been dedicating time and energy to the WSHA and our show in Reno. Preserving Western traditions, ranching, cattle projects and most importantly family and friends, are the core of our event. They have spent countless hours, organizing all the aspects of the event, we call Hereford Reno. It’s a time-honored tradition for generations of families and we appreciate all participants both new and old. We’re excited to increase our scholarship activity from one to two. We’ll continue to honor John Ascuaga with a scholarship in his name and last year through the generosity of many, we initiated and fully funded a scholarship to carry on the legacy of Willard Wolf. His influence and enthusiasm for Herefords helped build herds, commercial and registered, as well as some of the best people in our business. This is a family event where we work together, play together and encourage our adults and youth to mix, share stories and make new ones. This isn’t about looking at a TV, computer or phone, it’s about hugs and handshakes.

Our schedule starts with Junior Showmanship on Wednesday afternoon, Junior Show Thursday, Bull Show, sale social and sale at the Livestock Events Center on Friday. Our semen, flushes and advertising auction will be held as part of the sale. Lastly, the female show will be on Saturday with the silent auction, honoree presentation, scholarships and awards held to wrap up the event at the Nugget Hotel and Casino.

We’ve brought in past Hereford fieldman and purebred enthusiast, Jared Patterson to co-ordinate the sale this year. He’s worked throughout the summer to gather genetics for this event. Gathering a balance of local and nationally know consignors, including all classes of live and frozen genetics for our offering.

This is an important event for our industry and we thank our committee and the many folks that block out “HEREFORD RENO” on their calendars each year. Lastly, we’d like to recognize Michelle Thelen our Secretary/Treasurer and Sue Hoffman our Show Secretary for their dedication to this event.

LIABILITY All persons attending the Western National Show and sale do so at their own risk. Neither the sale manager, board members of the Western States Hereford Association or any person involved with the management of the show and sale assumes any liability, legal or otherwise, for any injury or damages.

DELIVERY Sale management will assist in making delivery arrangements of the sale animals to the new purchaser’s destination at the least possible cost. Delivery will not exceed $500 per lot to a central location within the continental United States if arrangements are made by the sale manager. All such deliveries will be at the buyer’s risk.

LIVESTOCK MORTALITY INSURANCE Insurance will be available from StarNet Insurance, James F. Bessler Agency.

HEALTH AND GUARANTEES

A certified Nevada Veterinarian, will be on site to handle sale cattle health.

• All bulls will be tested for Brucellosis, Trichamoniasis and appropriate health papers will be available for immediate shipment. All females are officially Brucellosis vaccinated. Cattle selling to any area that requires additional testing will have to complete tests prior to shipment.

• All bulls born prior to Dec. 1, 2020 have passed a semen evaluation by an accredited veterinarian. These results will accompany the bull’s health papers. Bulls born on or after Dec. 1, 2020 will be sold with a breeding guarantee.

• All females selling safe in calf will have been tested within 30 days by an accredited veterinarian, and a statement of proof will accompany the health papers.
