Welcome to our 2023 sale! Thank you for considering our Wildberry sale offering. We know you receive many sale catalogs in the mail this time of year and there are many places where you can purchase bulls. We take our job seriously as your seedstock supplier. Your investment in Wildberry seedstock is backed by a program over 45 years in development. I am proud of Wildberry Farms. Proud of the cattle and proud of the team that produce them. Jim Boop for 27 years, Dean Elder for 7 years and Ben Lehman for the last 12 years have dedicated themselves to produce the quality bulls and females for you, our customers.

The cattle look good despite the wet muddy winter. Our calves never receive creep feed, so their performance is based on the maternal ability of their dams and proven genetics of their sires. From weaning until they are delivered to your farm the bulls are developed on a high roughage grass hay and corn gluten diet so that they gain 2.5 to 3 pounds per day. This slow but sure development produces sound athletic bulls ready to work in your pastures for several years.

This is a great time to be in the cattle business. Yeah, we heard that before. Sure, there are always challenges, but there is good reason to be optimistic. With the nation’s shrinking cow herd feeder cattle and finished cattle prices will remain high for some time.

As always, the bulls carry a first year breeding season guarantee. We will board the bulls free until June 1 and delivery is free with in the first 200 miles. All bulls are base priced at $2,750, all females base priced at $2,000. Bulls will sell first then pick of the 2022 open heifers followed by the bred heifers in catalog order. Each lot will begin at the base price. Bulls that do not receive the base bid will be skipped over and offered one more time at the conclusion of the bull sale. Females will sell after the bulls. Please feel free to call with any questions about the format.

HERD HEALTH PROGRAM

All bulls & heifers are on a complete health program and will be accompanied by health papers for shipment anywhere in the United States. All cattle have been vaccinated for PI3, BVD, 7-Way, Blackleg, BRVS and Haemophilus and have been poured and treated with Dectomax.

Bulls sell in their entirety, unless otherwise noted.

SALE LOCATION

The sale will be held at the farm between Elizabeth and Hanover, Illinois.

Three miles south of US 20-Highway 84 intersection or one mile north of Hanover on Highway 84 on the west side of the road.

We ask for a fully refundable deposit of 1/3 the price of the bull the day you select the bull. Final payment is due when the bull is delivered or picked up. We expect full payment for females and they should be picked up sale day or shortly after.

EPDS

All EPDs are the most current BOLT at the time of printing conducted by IGS and the American Simmental Association. Please note that EPDs may change from the time the sale catalog is printed until registration papers are transferred.

How to Read the Performance Data

Tattoo: The bulls have a permanent I.D. tattooed in both ears that correspond to the alphanumeric ear tags.

Weights and Ratios: Actual BW weight taken within the first 24 hours of calving. The ratios for birth and weaning weights are taken from the ASA using their contemporary groups. The yearling weight and carcass ratios are figured by us in house, with all the Purebreds in one group and all the Percentage bulls in another group. We feel this gives the most easy to read information and shows how the bulls have done relative to their pen mates.

SC: Scrotal Circumference measured in centimeters adjusted for age.

ULTRASOUND CARCASS

REA: Adjusted yearling ultrasound rib eye area.

%IMF: Adjusted yearling ultrasound for estimated marbling, an indication of quality grade potential.

Back Fat: Measured in hundredths of an inch.
