Welcome
Welcome to our 2nd Annual Spring Sale!
What an extraordinary time to be in the cattle business! Cattle prices are setting record highs nationwide, and we are confident that good rain and a thriving economy will lead to success for everyone.
Our 2025 sale offering is something we take great pride in. Over the past year, particularly during our inaugural spring sale, we have gained invaluable insights. We are committed to pushing the boundaries of genetic quality, always with our customers’ success at the forefront. This year, we are delivering a second set of age-advantaged bulls that will significantly enhance your operations. Each bull comes in an age-advantage package and has been nurtured on a carefully managed nutrition plan to promote longevity. These bulls have never been offered for sale before and were deliberately set aside after weaning for this event. We are confident that they are ready to get to work for you!
Furthermore, we are thrilled to offer 60 fall-calving bred heifers that represent the best of our herd. In our traditional fall sale, offering fall-calving cows with calves at their side was not ideal due to the stress on young calves. However, this year, our fallcalving bred heifers are AI bred to breed-leading sires, ensuring you a superior genetic advantage. With the cull cow market currently booming, now is the time to replace older cows or any under-performers with young, highly productive animals.
We invite you to come by and visit us at your convenience to see our exceptional offering. Don’t miss this opportunity to enhance your herd. We are looking forward to seeing each of you on March 1st! If you have any questions, reach out to us. We are here to help!
Thanks,
The Gibbs Farms Crew

A Note From The Sale Manager
Welcome to the Gibbs Farm Annual Spring Bull & Replacement Female Sale! What a phenomenal set of cattle the Gibbs crew has produced for your appraisal the first Saturday of March. The sale features the same quality and reputation as the historic Gibbs Fall Sale. The bulls were hand selected at weaning and have never been marketed before. The bred heifers feature the only opportunity for buyers to purchase true fall bred females from Gibb Farms.
Optimism for our country and the beef business continues to build as we turn the calendar into 2025. All classes of cattle are trading at strong price point and the cow calf producer is looking at a highly profitable year in 2025. Premiums have never been higher for quality genetics and management. The demand for US quality beef and the low inventory of the US cowherd has been the driving forces behind the record prices. We get the question on how long will prices stay this strong? Most of the sophisticated price predictors say cattlemen will remain seeing strong feeder cattle prices into 2027. A much larger window than the 2014 and 2015 window of feeder cattle price spikes.
Selecting a seedstock producer who can cover your two basic needs in genetic improvement and superior service is a must. The genetic potency of the Gibbs Farm is simply unmatched. Superior marbling, maternal traits, growth and calving ease can be found all through the strong offering of bulls. The genetic horsepower of the herd has led to the GF prefix of having a strong reputation in video sales platforms and cattle feeders throughout the country. The service component of Gibbs farms offers a strong warranty, affordable deliver, and a continued effort to make your feeder cattle and bred females more valuable to buyers. If you have not gave a Gibbs animal a chance, they will backwards in order to earn your business.
We hope you can join us March 1st or catch the sale online on DV. As always if we can be any assistance, please do not hesitate in reaching out.
Sincerely,
Marty Ropp, Corey Wilkins and Jared Murnin

GIBBS 3572L TRIPLE CROWN
Gibbs Farms Bulls are grazed on pastures containing KY-31 Fescue and volunteer summer grasses like common Bermuda, crabgrass, and clover very similar to the environment most of them will encounter when they go to work of the environment most southeastern cattlemen operate in. They remain in the large pasture environment from the time they are weaned right up until sale time, never spending anytime in a dry lot environment.
Yes, we supplement the bulls on a high roughage, properly balanced bull developer ration consisting of soyhull pellets, peanut by products pellets, cotton by products, ground hay, a special mineral package and enough extruded cottonseed meal to balance their protein needs. We never use high starch cereal grains in our breeding cattle developer rations.
Placing our breeding stock in settings which will replicate most commercial environments operate in, results in bulls who will absolutely meet your needs. We want customers to be able to recognize their bulls in coming months after the sale.

PHENOTYPE or NUMBERS?
Too often we get asked the question, “What’s most important, phenotype or numbers?” We feel like it is an important question and one that is much debated within the industry and often divides the industry. It is also a question that needs to be tackled in a few parts.
We feel as phenotype should be the base and starting point of any animal. Cattle should simply be built to last with structural integrity, correctness, and be overall sound. If a bull or heifer can grow really good or has great carcass quality, but cannot stay sound for many years to come then they will cost you money! Many do not realize that the number one expense to a producer is replacing females in the herd. Another way phenotype is important to us is simply that we like to look at the cattle and be happy with what we see. It sounds simple minded, but it brings us joy to ride into the pasture and have “good lookin” cows running around, and we know our customers feel the same. Also, I have a little boy coming up, and I hope he will want to drag one in the show ring in a few years and have some success and learn a few lessons.
Where do we stand on “numbered cattle?” To answer that correctly, we first must understand what EPDs do. “EPD” stands for expected progeny difference. They compare individual animals to other animals in different ages and environments. They are extremely important in the fact that they give you the opportunity to seek the best cattle for what you need. Individual data such as weights and carcass scans are put into contemporary groups, and go into these EPDs, and move the animal where it is compared to where it was projected on from the pedigree. The actual EPD allows you to compare animals from your neighbor’s bull or even other breeders. EPDs are will not change if the pounds are fake and are just fed on. The actual growth epds will reflect where the animal will grow in your environment. I have seen a few breeders bosting huge 1000-pound weaning weights, and we have used their bulls and never seen 1000-pound weaning weights. Do you know why?? It isn’t because they or we are doing something wrong, it is because our environments are not the same. EPDs are what keeps breeders honest. EPDs are the only tool we have to compare different herds in different environments. EPDs measure important traits that we all need to pay attention to if we truly want to be successful.
So, what’s our answer?
Both! Phenotype and numbers are important. If anybody tells you different, then they are deceiving you. The older I get, the more I see greed and marketing come into this business. Find you a breeder you trust and a program that fits what you believe in, and go with it! We hope its us! A simple analogy to remember… If your bull looks like crap, but has really pretty numbers then it’s still crap... If your bull has crappy numbers, doesn’t grow, or give you the carcass you need to hit the premiums, then you just have pretty crap… The only way to be truly successful is to have everything, and that’s what we strive to produce.
