FALL VOL. 1
“Good things come to those who wait.” I cannot claim credit for that phrase, however, it is one that my father repeated to me times too numerous to mention. He was right. When Joe and I got married, he was a pig farmer and I was a dairy farmer. As it were, I didn’t understand pigs and he didn’t like to start milking cows way before daylight. So we did extensive research of beef cattle breeds as a compromise. We wanted a breed with maternal instinct, growth and docility. We have believed from day one in the type of animal that was functional AND phenotypically pleasing to the eye and that has been our goal in the development of our herd from the beginning. After several years of investigation and with a unanimous decision, we began our Simmental journey in the late 1980’s. We also wanted to offer our children the same opportunities we were fortunate enough to experience growing up; hard work, lifelong friendships, hard work, leadership skills, hard work, determination, hard work, never quit attitude, hard work, responsibility, hard work, you have to earn what you get, and lastly, did I mention hard work? I am personally writing this letter as I am the most fortunate person in the world to be able to work by the side of two of the best cattlemen in the industry. I cannot recall a day that I haven’t learned something from one or both of them. I am in awe of their inherent ability to analyze traits and put them together to make incredible matings. I have witnessed Joe’s foresight in his selection of females to purchase because of traits of their maternal grand or even great grand dam a.k.a. Hope at 10 months old and Miss A at 5 months old. I am always in admiration of Derek’s quiet manner while working with the herd; always patient and a step ahead of an animal’s next move as he understands how cattle think, act and react. They both possess an exceptional aptitude in evaluating individuals that is quite evident in the offering they have sorted for this sale. When Derek engineered a marketing plan approximately 5 years ago, he and Joe quietly and meticulously set forth on a mission to reach this event, the likes of which I had never seen. They have worked many 24 hour days, given up other activities they liked and call each other every evening to make or confirm the next plan. If there was a stumbling block; they either kicked it out of the way or jumped over it, never looking back, always focused and looking forward. They are an inseparable team even when they are not together and their commitment to the Simmental Breed is as inseparable as they are. They are NEVER satisfied which pushes them to breed that next great sire or donor. They love nothing better than to talk cattle with someone – anyone! Most of all, they are visionaries; always looking beyond what is right in front of them to improve not only their herd, but the entire breed. So the inauguration of “Pave the Way” is dedicated to the two men who have stayed the course, patiently waited, and truly paved their own way in this breed: Joe and Derek Tingle. I speak for all of us at Tingle Farms as we invite you to join us here at the farm on Sunday, October 23rd, at 1:00pm. We have chosen our best for your selection at our first public sale offering. We are truly humbled and excited beyond words to have this opportunity to share our genetics and we look forward to seeing you soon. Yours,

TERMS AND CONDITIONS: All cattle sell under the Suggested Sale Terms & Conditions of the American Simmental Association with the following exception on females that have been in exhibition. Many times, heifers that are shown can often be fed to an extreme level of obesity and are often not allowed to be bred in ideal situations resulting in an open female at the end of her show career. This situation is out of the hands of the breeder therefore, we will hold the owner/feeder responsible for any reproduction issues and no longer guarantee the heifer as a breeder. If this situation does result, the breeders of the Pave the Way Sale will still make an attempt to assist the owner in getting this female bred through the following two breeding seasons. 1/2 INTEREST LOTS: Possession of the animal is negotiable unless otherwise noted. Arrangements for embryo transplant work on the animal will be agreed upon between buyer and seller. Embryos produced by the donor will be divided equally between the two partners. All costs associated with embryo work will be split 50/50. SALE DAY ANNOUNCEMENTS: A supplement sheet will be available sale day with updated information, corrections, and additional information. This sheet and any announcements made sale day and from the auction block during the sale will take precedence over printed material associated with this sale. Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of visitors, neither the sales management, auctioneer, or owners assumes any responsibility in the matter and disclaims any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of accident or lost property.

To say this is written without emotion would be untrue. There always seems to come a time that you have to lay emotion aside, lace up your shoes, and go play ball. Well, our shoes are laced and the game has already started, are you ready to PLAY?! When we purchased Hope as a calf in December of 2008, we envisioned the maternal power on both sides of her pedigree could very well make her a notable donor prospect. So, at only eight years of age, as her resume runs over with show champions, sale toppers, tremendous brood cows, and herd bulls commercial cattlemen have come to depend on; Hope surpassed ‘notable’ several years ago. She has commanded her position at the top of the Simmental breed as a premier producer of the highest quality stock. It would be a rare occurrence to mention Hope in a group of Simmental breeders anywhere and they not know who she is. So as I write this footnote I soon have figured out that there are only so many words in the English language you can use to describe a cow! However, this is not just an ordinary cow, this is HOPE FLOATS! The physical impression Hope leaves on visitors is one of shear awe and appreciation. Aside of the shear mass, length, and structure; there’s this little thing called consistency. Hope transmits the qualities that make her great to all of her progeny. Need proof? Hope has an astonishing track record selling females at an average of $22,227. Then throw in bulls at an average of $8279. This giving her a lifetime live sales average of $13,770. And looking more youthful than ever, we decided it was time to share . . . So here’s to a once in a lifetime opportunity; here’s to a once in a lifetime cow! Selling 1/2 interest with no possession.

Every year as a new calf crop hits the ground it doesn’t take long until the Hope progeny start to sort themselves to the top. This year is no exception, in fact, it might be the most exceptional. D104 and D110 are members of the exciting first calf crop of TNGL Upper Hand, a herd sire that you will definitely see more of in the years to come. We had no doubt that this mating was going to be one of the best that we have done with Hope Floats. Combining the attributes of two of the breeds best is always advantageous to success and that is simply our philosophy. Both of these young donor prospects exhibit those attributes. D104 is so much like her mother at this stage it is scary. She is so long, loose structured, and correct at the ground. She has that long flat neck that Hope always passes along. The amount of capacity this young lady has is deceiving when you consider the length of spine she has. D110 is much the same from the standpoint of structure, feet and legs. She is probably the bigger bodied of the two with a shade more shape like we have seen Upper Hand produce. The same long flat neck is in both heifers and the same capability to produce at a high level just as all Hope daughters have proven they can do. Take your pick or take both and leave no doubt on the table. I assure you these females will succeed in a lot of different ways. Lots 1A & 1B are Entered in NAILE Open Show

As we continue to add chapters to the Hope Floats book, this Bullseye mating chapter is going to be a book of its own in the near future. What an exciting mating this has been since they hit the ground and as we are continually looking to build a herd around females like these, it makes it extremely hard to let bred females of this caliber leave the farm. However, In this inaugural event we decided to offer our best. Hopes Ruby C839 and Hopes Grace C859 exemplify the quality that we expect from combining two of the greatest cow families in the breed, Hope Floats and Miss Werning 8543! C839 is your only red option in the sale and C859 is the solid black replica of her. They combine the power that we have continually seen in the Bullseye progeny with the long spine, structure, and extension that Hope consistently passes along. Both of these females have ample capacity to make a living in any environment; however, I see them working the best in a donor pen somewhere! Both are bred to an up and coming calving ease specialist Ty Warren bought from us who went on to win the Houston Stock Show as a May calf. Fresh genetics from every angle and a sure way, (whether you like red or black), to get your program to a new level. A.I. 5/26 TNGL OBR Fortune 500C (no pasture exposure)

A rare opportunity here!! We don’t often allow access to our young donor battery in this way, however, we are committed to offering the best and the opportunity to flush Hopes Desire A572 is just that. As Hope Floats continues to add to her legacy, Hopes Desire has just started her own quest for greatness. We couldn’t be more proud of a set of sisters as we are of Hopes Desire and all her flush mates. The list is vast; Hopes Design A589 was a high seller for $28,000 in Denver as a calf that now resides in the donor pen at Hudson Pines. Hopes Attraction A585 was a high seller at the Back to the Basics sale for $25,000 to the Stehr family of Oklahoma. Hopes Charm A583 commanded high selling bred honors at the Field of Dreams for $12,000 now producing at Trennepohl Farms. Hopes Desire A572 claimed a valuation price tag of $52,000 in Denver and we couldn’t have better partners than the Manske’s of Oklahoma. A572 is just simply jaw dropping. She has the mass, power, and bone to produce herd sires with the best of them. Yet she has the angularity, structure, and extension it takes to make females that get you to the winners circle in the show ring and pasture. Desire calved in early September and judging by her heifer calf at side, I think everyone will agree just how special this cow can be. She will be open and ready to flush right after the sale. Feel free to contact us here at the farm or Manske Simmentals if you have any questions. Guaranteeing 6 transferrable embryos with an open top. Buyer will be responsible for all costs associated with the flush.
When we get visitors to the farm we often get the question multiple times, What is that one?! Most of the time it’s a Miss A daughter. She has such an uncanny knack for passing along a look and type no matter the mating. She is a consistent producer of power and shape, but yet ties a flat shoulder and beautiful front end in to all her progeny. You will see her influence sprinkled throughout the catalog. She is most likely in the pedigree every time you see a picture and ask yourself, What is that one?

And what ‘A Joy’ she is! One of the first TNGL Track On B748 daughters to hit the ground and she is a hit. Track On was purchased by Jock and Brenda Beeson, Western Cattle Source-Nebraska, as a calf out of the stall at Denver, 2015, with high hopes of his ability to breed as true as his mother has in terms of overall completeness and functionality. He has certainly increased his stock with this girl. Her smooth profile is extremely eye pleasing and she has growth written all over her. Another one that had not been off of the cow very long come picture time but what an upside this female has. One of the most complete in the offering from a skeleton and composition stand point. Once again carrying on the quality that Miss A puts in to all of her progeny. She is the only heifer out of that flush, so be sure to take time sale day to take a look at her brothers and I think you will see why we are so high on this young girl. Entered in NAILE Open Show

What a prolific donor, like her dam, Chyna Marie, and grandam Chyna. She has made several nice calves out of several different mating’s. She flushed very well with an average of 30+ embryos per flush! She passes tremendous udder quality and foot size with structural soundness to her offspring. If you are a believer in great cow families, then you’ll certainly be impressed that Chyna and Chyna Marie are in the top 50 most prolific donors in the Simmental Breed, with Chyna ranking 3rd and Chyna Marie 43rd. She sells bred to the great Silviera Style, a herd sire that certainly needs no introduction. This mating could result in huge dividends for the next owner. Silverstone, Lundy Farms, and McElroy would like your consideration in making Marie-In-Time as your next cornerstone female! Not to mention she has the credentials backing her impressive tenure, as Marie-In-Time was named reserve fall heifer calf champion at the National Western Stock Show, and most recently was named Reserve Grand Champion Cow/Calf Pair at the North American as a 7 year old. We love our Glimmer X368 girls and this mating with Bullseye has been much in demand. The full sib to D976, TNGL Glimmer C860, was the 2016 Ky Beef Expo record setting $18,000 claim of Mellenkamp Farms of Maysville, Ky. Another full sib was a top seller at the field of dreams going to Terry Hoffman of Indiana. Along with being an eye-catcher, this girl comes complete with a pedigree of winners and sale toppers that have produced consistently for two generations. This picture doesn’t do this heifer justice but time wasn’t on our side enough to retake one. She is so stout and powerful in her hip and top as all of her sisters have been, yet wedges in to a superbly designed front end. She is one of those versatile females that will produce banners and whatever else you want to make with her. That in a purebred package is hard to come by. Entered in NAILE Open Show
No matter the direction you want to take your program, a Glimmer X368 daughter will fit in to it. Gypsy C812 is another versatile member of that cow family. When we had our first Wide Track progeny we couldn’t wait to get this Glimmer mating on the ground. C812 is such an interesting breeding piece. Length and extension are abundant and she stands on a big foot and flexible undercarriage. This female is so impressive when you get behind her and down her top - herd sire maker deluxe! Another link in the Glimmer chain and one that has already proven to be valuable in production. C875 is a full sib to the Hudson Pines selection, TNGL Obsession, and the Denver selection by Case Gabel, TNGL Upper Hand. You will see the quality that Obsession will produce in the near future and the high end first calf crop by Upper Hand that are laced through this catalog. C875 has all the same bells and whistles as her siblings. A big centered, flat shouldered, good-necked kind that gives you a lot of different options with the breeding rod. She sells bred to the Grand Fortune son that we believe will soon make a big name for himself, TNGL OBR Fortune 500C. A.I. 5/26 TNGL OBR Fortune 500C (no pasture exposure)

The Elsa cow family has been recognized in many herds across the country. When we bought W11 as a calf we had high hopes that she would one day pass along those same qualities that drew us to her to start off with. She is one of the best cows at the ground that I have ever had the opportunity to own. That is one thing that she certainly passes along. Jock and Brenda Beeson saw the quality in a son of hers early on, TNGL Track On. He has done a great job for them and us alike in his first calf crop. Track on is one you will be seeing more of in the coming years as he proves to sire the fault free functional type we all strive for. W11 can produce show stopping females as well. Elsa B790 claimed reserve division honors as a May calf in Louisville. We would take a herd full of this type of cow, functional and profitable! Owned with R-T Cattle Co.

D917 is the proof as to why her mother went in to the donor pen at a young age. She is the natural calf of W11 proving the ability of her dam to produce at every level. D917 is so hard to poke a hole in. She is complete from every angle, her feet and legs are superb just as all W11 progeny have been. She flat necked and shouldered in a modern package. D917 has the over all completeness to compete on a lot of stages, but we feel her greatest value will be in production. The cow families stacked in her pedigree add an extra notch of predictability in how she will perform and produce. Whether you are looking for show heifer, donor cow, or just flat out good cattle D917 will be on your short list. Entered in NAILE Open Show

We have been extra excited about this mating from day one. Any time we have the opportunity to keep stacking the cow families that have made our cow herd what they are we take it. D102 is one of those opportunities, the first time we have been able to combine the Glimmer and Elsa cows and what a compliment they are. Length, power, look, and overall completeness sum this little lady up. She didn’t want to cooperate on picture day, but I assure you she is worth the drive to New Castle. A show ring competitor for sure then let the road lead you where it will. Predictability built in.

We could not keep this females dam out of the donor pen! Her first calf commanded $10,000 to Sloup’s and went into their donor pen as soon as she hit production! A bull calf sold for $5,000 at the Ohio Beef Expo and is doing a stellar job for Greenhorns and Wilsons. A really sharp looking baldy heifer sold to Kendal Williams, and we decided to retain a Gunslinger bull calf for our own program due to the superior udder quality and potency of X11. She was the 4th Overall Cow-Calf pair at the AJSA Summer Classic and was Reserve Grand Champion Cow-Calf pair at the Ohio State Fair. This Sure Bet sired female is without question her best calf yet. If you are looking for cow power here is your female! She is so big bodied, stout hipped, and good on her feet and legs. We purchased this females dam from Sanders Ranch as a calf and that summer she was 9th overall at Junior Nationals and did it again as a bred! She has been flat out producing and it doesn’t seem to matter how we mate this female, as they are all good, sound and functional cattle. I feel 604D is going to follow in her mother’s footsteps and make her new owner very successful in the end.

Lady D927 is the only Upper Class we have out her power house dam 300W so she was one that was marked to go to the replacement pen and continue the tradition of producing top end stock just as her mother. However, in our quest to offer the best we could for our inaugural event we decided to offer her for your appraisal. As we have gotten our first Upper Class daughters a year in to production we couldn’t be happier with the fleshing and milking ability they have, true assets to the cow herd. D917 we see as being no different in that aspect but man does she give you a stunning look from a show heifer stand point. She is big hipped and powerful in her fore rib and heart. Big bodied yet balanced in her over all design. Lady D927 could become that hard to find show heifer that has cow written all over her. Study hard! Entered in NAILE Open Show

Lots 28 - 31 Our good friend and partner, Case Gabel, purchased half of Upper Hand a couple years ago and I don’t think either of us knew the potential this bull had at the time. We have always had great success out of the Glimmer cow family and it is ultra rewarding to see sons and daughters producing at this level. Upper Hand has roamed the vast pastures of northern Colorado for the last two breeding seasons and has done what every true breeding bull should do, gotten better! He has gotten better as an individual but most importantly proven himself up to the challenge of longevity and producing high quality cattle in both females and bulls. These five females came straight off of the sandy pastures of Colorado to us late this summer. An environment change to say the least but wow have these heifers responded. We felt these heifers are so good as a group we wanted to put them all together for you to admire the consistency. As you study them individually or as a group they combine the capacity and cow power of both sides of their pedigree and the ultra attractive front end and structure that you hope for when you look for something that can continually compete in the show ring. These are females we all strive to produce, ENJOY!

She combines width and power throughout, yet moves gracefully off a very correct leg structure and huge foot. Derek Evans bought her mother from us as a bred heifer and if she continues to produce females like this one he will look like he knows what he’s doing! This heifer goes back to a cow family we have had here on the farm for many years. And the reason they are still around is their consistent production of really good ones year after year. So we added a splash of Hope with Grand Fortune, and we are tickled with the outcome. Miss Fortune does so many things right, we know she is going to be a standout in the pasture as all the Grand Fortune daughters have been. Backed by maternal power on both sides, she is a no-brainer.

SIRE OF LOTS 35 & 36 - OWNED BY WESTERN CATTLE SOURCE Over the years in the simmental business we have learned that cattle are great and the people are even better. It is so rewarding when you are able to partner with your friends and both have great success. Jock and Brenda Beeson purchased this young up and comer, TNGL Track On, from us in the yards in Denver a couple of years ago and neither of us have ever been disappointed in the road he has led us down. We had the opportunity this summer to get to Crawford, NE to spend all day looking through an ultra productive and impressive set of cows. The type of cows that you love to see your genetics on! This first calf crop from Track On has been just as we had hoped it would be, hard to punch holes in. These two females are exemplary candidates to show you what this bull can do. The overall completeness and look that he has given in these two surpasses our expectation. The older of the two, 6094D, is so extended and feminine in her front third and has plenty of gas in the tank. As this heifer continues to develop she is sorting herself closer to the top every day. The April born and more moderate version is in 6045D. So complete with plenty of shape and capacity. Easy on the move and easy on the eyes, both of these females are the perfect fit for any competitive showmen and cowman.

Her full sib, Ester C833, had a very successful show career as a calf for the Stehr family and we feel will continue on this fall as a bred. D944 is a spitting image of her sister at this stage, you have the advantage to look in to the future on this one and boy does it look bright! Entered in NAILE Open Show

Chloe U234 has always made us proud, however, this mating with Bullseye has undeniable curb appeal. Your eye can’t help but to be drawn to her flawless shoulder design that blends seamlessly into her neck. A beautiful blaze face tops her off. And Bullseye sure made his mark on this one adding his trademark dimension and muscle expression. If you want attention in the show ring – this one’s for you!

When we purchased Lazy H Priceless U46 we could not have been more excited! Nothing but good has come from having this female in our donor arsenal. Janssen Farms selected U46 for $19,000 in 2008, and went on to be Reserve Calf Champion at the NWSS and later that year was Reserve Grand Champion Bred & Owned female at the Junior Nationals, Grand Champion at the Ohio State Fair, Grand Champion at the Keystone National. The first heifer calf that we had out of our U46 donor sold to Bill Maghes for $11,000. Another female brought $7,500 in Denver, where the full sib embryos brought $1,100 each. This female is going to write her own chapter in the history books and has already began, as she won a big class at the Ohio State Fair. These genetics are not only valuable, they are priceless!

This female’s dam, T19, is a full sister to Lazy H Burn Baby Burn. We all are aware of the legacy that she has left on the breed and the impact she continues to make! T19 is building her own legacy and is making her mark here. Her first calf at Ferguson Show Cattle was a Lock N Load that commanded $12,000 to Sloup Simmentals, where she now spends her days in the donor pen. T19 is an extremely prolific and fertile female that has done us an excellent job. This is just the 2nd female that we have parted with, and we are left wondering if we should?

We purchased this mating in the form of embryos in Denver and we are certainly pleased with that investment! Miss Yardley S141 commanded $56,000 in the 2013 Right By Direction Sale. Miss Uptown is a prime example of the quality that S141 produces time and time again. A sister STCC Taylor Swift brought $18,000 and was the calf champion at NAILE and reserve calf champion at the NWSS. MS Uptown won her class at the Ohio State Fair Open Simmental Show. A female that upholds the quality standard set forth by her lineage and will continue to reach new levels of success! Entered in NAILE Open Show

We sold this female’s dam, Dominique 54, last year to our close friend Gene Rowe for $15,000. She stems from the FSC Ericas Lutton cow line that has generated high-end cattle time after time. A daughter commanded $17,000 at the National Western to Chris Effling of South Dakota. That female went on to be a major producer for the Effling family. Another daughter was purchased out of the stalls in Denver for $25,000 before the show and then preceded to win her class and division! This female will generate five-figure valued cattle; buy this money tree for yourself!

C872 piles almost all of our most consistent producing cow families in one pedigree. Siblings to both her sire and dam have been sale toppers and top producers. A full sib to her sire, Fortunes Fame, sold in Denver for $16,000 to the Latske family of Minnesota. If you dig deep into pedigrees you will find what I consider one of the best open heifers we have to offer is a full sib to her sire. Johnnie Moore selected a young herd sire for his operation that is a flush mate to C872’s dam. Hope, Glimmer, Sparkle, and Elsa all in the same pedigree. So to finish it off we throw the Miss A 426W cow in and breed her to the up and coming calving ease specialist, TNGL OBR Fortune 500C. Greatness runs deep! We purchased Ester as an open heifer from Cole Elrod and Alex Tolbert, and what a wise investment that has been. Ester is as stout made, heavy muscled, and big footed as any angus cow we have come across. The easy keeping kind that not only survive, but thrive on our rocks and fescue! She has been such a key ingredient to our SimAngus program producing the commercial cattlemen’s kind of bull and the kind of no holes females that can make a statement in the pasture and show ring. A W/C Bullseye daughter purchased by the Stehr family in Oklahoma, was reserve in division at both Louisville and Denver last year as a calf. A flush mate pen of 3 bulls to her won a tough class of 5 pens in the yards as well. This mating to TNGL Track On, now owned by Western Cattle Source of NE, is another one that will be hard to punch holes in. You will be seeing lots more from both Ester 020 and Track On, put your name on one! Selling three (3) number (1) embryos, guaranteeing 1 pregnancy if work is done by a Certified Embryologist.

If you like goose fronted, long spined, maternally oriented cattle that have a great show look and big hip, then look no further than this mating. Kitty Kat 8/119 is a stout, long necked donor that is as big footed and sound as you can build one. She flushes like no other averaging over 30 each time and when you add the 2014 NWSS Grand Champion bull - Tingle Grand Fortune to the mix, WOW! Is all you can say. Out of this mating, we have an exciting young bull calf with a neck like a giraffe and a rear quarter and hip like a clubby show steer and is outgrowing his contemporaries. He definitely fits our motto “Performance with Style”. Selling three (3) embryos and guaranteeing (1) pregnancy per package if work is performed by a certified embryologist.
