Reading the Data The Santa Gertrudis Breeders International genetic evaluation is one of the most comprehensive among the Bos indicus breeds. The evaluation system, developed for the association by Livestock Genetic Services, has been reviewed by the nation’s leading animal geneticists and utilizes genotypes collected from the breed’s leading sires and validated on 10K, 20K, and 50K SNP Chips. Thousands of ranch phenotypes and scan records collected over a 25 year period serve as the foundation of the genetic evaluation. SGBI’s reliable genetic evaluation ensures that cattlemen can make sound selection decisions, identifying those animals that will perform in the most challenging of environmental conditions. SGBI Expected Progeny Differences:
Expected Progeny Differences, EPDs, are the prediction of how future progeny of each animal are expected to perform relative to the progeny of other animals listed in the SGBI database. EPDs are expressed in units of measure (plus or minus) for each trait being evaluated and are calculated utilizing pedigree and performance information. In 2014 Santa Gertrudis Breeders International released the first genomic-enhanced expected progeny differences (DNA verified) for Bos indicus influenced cattle. The inclusion of DNA into the breed’s EPD calculations (GE-EPDs) result in information that is more accurate and predicable than a pedigree and performance prediction alone. SGBI is a leader in the adoption and implementation of genetic technology and the association’s database contains over 4,000 DNA samples genotyped with the GeneSeek Genomic Profiler.

Offering an IVF collection The #1 Marbling Genomiic Enhanced EPD Santa Gertrudis Active Animal. Red Doc Farm 5369 is the $35,000 female puchase from Red Doc Farms to Quail Valley Famrs & Tinney Farms in the 2018 Mid Coast Super Sale. She post .36 EPD which is the highest ranking animial in the SGBI data base for Marbling. She expressed her genomic indcator by scanning an incredible 7.5% IMF. With that said, if you do a controlled search using .3 or greater or .2 or greater or even .1 or greater in the SGBI data base search tool, you will find very few active animals presented. Another important point is Red Doc 5369 also ranks in in the Top 4% for BW. For all Santa Gertrudis animal breeders and enthusiast out there that have ever set down and calculated a set of projected EPD’s for a mating, you know that BW and Marbling are real issues. We will never suggest single trait selection, to the contrary, we desire balance across the board in every EPD trait. Statistically, here is your chance to breed toward the missing elements and balance in the Santa Gertrudis breed! Red Doc 5369 stands open ready to flush after having her natural calf. Terms & Conditions: Guaranteeing 6 viable embryos at buyers expense of collection. Seller will deliver to approved, by seller collection faciity. Contact: Ricky Cleveland 205.533.5049. Miss Yancy 60/3 is just turnig 6 years of age and is already considered one of the matriarch’s of the entire Santa Gertrudis breed. Quail Valley purchased her from the Nelson family to be the base of their donor program and she has fulfilled that roll beyond their wildest expectations. Miss Yancy was awarded to Wyatt Nelson as a NJHS donated heifer from Stait Ranches and subsequintly went on to be crowned the 2015 NJHS National Grand Champion. After her elustrius show carreer she was flushed by the Nelson’s and Pitchford Cattle Co. before being purchased by Quail Valley. She currently has 19 registered offspring enrolled in the SGBI registry with many more coming in ET pregancies and embryos in the tank. In her donor production at Qual Valley Farms she has generated 77 embryos averaging 7 transferable embryos on 11 IVF collections from multiple breed leading sires. Her natural heifer calf sired by Pistolero 64/5, that was just weaned is stellar to say the least. Her production has already produced many show winners, with both bulls and females, including, Clancy 45/15, Flex 615/16, QV Redemption 60E1 & Miss Rally Never Before. QV Redemption 60E1 as a bull calf has already been named over all Grand Champion Bull in 4 major point shows and is the current point leader headed into the 2019 National Show in Jackson, MS. While her offspring are very well suited for the show road they also fit the current direction of the Santa Gertrudis BEEF industry in Genomic Enhanced EPD’s and performance. Miss Yancy 60/3 currently ranks in the Top 30% in 6 Traits including Top 2% WW, YW & Top 3% REA, HCW. If you are trying to build or improve your program here is an opportunity to own out right one of the most “KNOWN” cows that checks all the boxes in the entire Santa Gertrudis breed! Terms & Conditions: Selling 100% Interest

Red Doc Sabe 7470 may be the most unexpected donor lot to sell this year, as we had no plans of doing so. These “”RESERVE”” Red Doc genetics are being released to the beef industry at a time where total profitable genetics separate themselves from any single one trait genetics. There are some questions about the ceiling in the Santa Gertrudis breed for genetics. RDF 7470 will shatter that ceiling preventing a stagnate herd. We do know at Red Doc that 7470 excels in several traits that fit the beef industry and can stand with any female of any breed in the United States for elite genetics. Never before has a donor been released with so much matriarch consistency in the Gert breed. Red Doc Sabe 7470 post breed changing ”Genomic Enhanced” EPDs. Her self Red Doc Sabe 7470 is a donor, her sister Red Doc 6355 is a donor, her dam SR 90/4 is a donor, her grand dam SR 68/2 a donor at Strait Ranches, as well as, her great grand dam Briggs 081/0 is a donor at Strait Ranches. She, unlike many other donors, does not excel in only a few selection characteristics but is strong in all genotypes, as well as, phenotypes. Red Doc Sabe 7470 writes 10 EPD tratis in the Top 30%. Top 1% WW, YW, HCW, REA, Top 3% SC, Top 4% HPRG, Milk, Top 5% BBK, Top 15% Marbling, and Top 30% Tenderness. INCREDIBLE! There will never be another chance to recreate her again as her deceased carcass king sire, Red Doc Quien Sabe 3150, is top 1% Marb and top 2% of REA and sold for $18,000 as a yearling in RHBS 2014 is no longer in production nor is there any semen remaining. 7470 is without doubt our top heifer in the fall 2017 contemporary group. She weaned 732 lbs. off her 1320 lb. donor dam, as well as, an outlier scan at 11 months of age. (11 month wt) 1022 lb. YW, REA 11.58, IMF% 5.08. We have top expectations for Red Doc Sabe 7470 and thus she was bred at 13 months to Red Doc Never Better 7457. Never Better is a one of a kind ”herd bull” who will be a highlight at this year’s Red Hot Bull Sale 2019. Never Better is an ET son out of our most profitable sire and dam lines. His sire Red Doc Never Before 1136 is one of the leading registered sires in the breed. Red Doc Sabe 7457 is out of our top donor dam Red Doc Bonita 8017 who has sold over $150,000 in natural calves. Never Better adjusted actuals: WW 862l bs , YW 1385l bs, REA 15.33, IMF 4.66 Bfat .25 (scanned at 13.5 months). Selling 1/2 interest and eventual full possession to the buyer of Red Doc Saba 7470. Red Doc is reserving and keeping the pregnancy or calf inside. Full possession to the 50% owner will transfer after the Fall 2019 calf is weaned. Red Doc will participate in flushing her after her calf is born with the new owner. Red Doc will maintain full possession of the current pregnancy and cost of maintenance of 7470 cow calf pair until the calf is weaned. After the calf is born Red Doc with the partner decides to flush, Red Doc will assist and participate in transportation of donor to either Genetics West or TransOva.

By intense study of breeding and aquiring the best genetics they have been respected by some of the largest Santa Gertrudis ranches in the World.
