Welcome
FROM BOB CHAROLAIS
Welcome Charolais enthusiasts, to the BOB Charolais Complete Herd Dispersal Sale. I am honored to extend to everyone an invitation to attend the sale (or participate online through DLMS), to take advantage of this opportunity to invest in a strong selection of purebred Charolais. For three decades I have been dedicated to selecting females that have contributed to advancing my herd in a positive direction, combined with the careful selection of herd sires chosen for having physical traits that proved to breed true. With each calving season, this combination created a stronger group of calves with more obvious similarities in performance, structure, attitude, and elevated value. This is exactly the type of program I know would grab my attention, so I encourage you to not let this chance pass you by. It would be a wise decision to acquire these females now, for there is potential in buying a female with a proven track record from a recognized and respected herd in a market that is hungry for more Charolais influenced cattle, and the possibility of a quick return on your investment.
There are so many people that I owe thanks to for contributing to my success with BOB Charolais; whose support made it possible to build the herd and plan and execute successful bull sales and heifer production sales for the last seven years. There isn’t enough space to list all of you who helped to establish the BOB Charolais herd as you see it here in its entirety, however I’m sure you know who you are and so to all of you, I must say THANK YOU, sincerely, for all your invaluable help and generous support. I am filled with gratitude.
I would particularly like to thank the Skeels family for offering to have the sale at the Anchor D Ranch and allowing the use of their facilities, including the Sale Barn, which will be converted back into the Calving Barn soon after the dispersal so they will be ready for the new calf crop which will be upon us before we know it. Working with you all has been a fantastic experience. I am continually impressed with your hard work and inspired by how well you keep your operation organized and how you all contribute to the success of the program you have built. Witnessing your commitment to maintain a delicate balance between work and family and a happy and healthy herd has made this decision to disperse an even harder one for me. It has been a genuine pleasure to have gotten to know you all and I cannot THANK YOU enough for all your help and support with the dispersal.
Raising purebreds requires a committed focus and for many, that commitment lasts an entire lifetime. So, when the decision to let go of and disperse the herd was made, it was not an easy one nor was it made lightly, but partly a necessary one for me. Next fall would have marked my thirtieth year of owning, breeding and raising Charolais cattle that have truly been like a part of me. This affection and passionate interest for cows goes back even farther than thirty years. Since childhood it has continued to be the most influential and rewarding aspect of my life. The preparation of this offering was a bit daunting and felt difficult at times, but I am proud to have made the effort and to be selling productive, well mannered, practical and attractive cows, as anyone with the enthusiasm for this breed can see.
There is one other person without whom I would not have achieved any of this, whose shared interest in the Charolais breed and passion and enthusiasm for raising cattle and presenting them for others to enjoy has been such a significant factor in my success. Together we share the origins of all the cattle in this catalogue and I want to express my gratitude to him for his integral contribution to the herd offered in this sale. So, THANK YOU, Mike, for sharing your creativity and knowledge of this great white breed.
Now a bit about the cattle. For the last month all the cattle have been on barley silage based TMR’s, the rations have ground hay and straw and different amounts of grain, pellets and minerals, depending on which of the three locations the cattle were on feed at: BOB Charolais has the heifer calves, herd bulls, and 38 of the mature cow herd; there were 27 bred heifers and 25 bred cows at the White Sands Feedlot; and 55 bred cows and all of the bull calves have been at Anchor D.
All the cattle received the same herd health protocol this fall: the cows received express 10 prior to breeding, Guardian (scour vaccine), Safeguard (internal parasites), Clean Up (external parasites) and Covexin all prior to the sale. All the bred females were rechecked to confirm their pregnancies in mid November. Any open replacement heifers were palpated and confirmed to be free of any abnormalities. All sale cattle are identified with a lot number tag, a colored numbered herd tag, a CCIA tag, and registered tattoo in the left ear. The entire herd is registered with the Canadian Charolais Association. You can find individual information for each animal online at their website.
The cattle are grouped in cow families, the cows with heifer calves will come through the ring together to be sold. The bull calves will be displayed in a pen together but are not included in this sale; rather, they will be included in the Anchor D Genetic Edge Bull Sale which takes place on February 7th, 2025. I would like to extend an invitation to all the past “BOB’s Bulls” buyers to attend the sale, as there is an exceptional pen of bulls this year and it will be the last chance to add BOB’s Bull genetics to your breeding program.
I would like to thank everyone who has purchased BOB Charolais genetics over the years. Your support is very much appreciated, and I THANK YOU. I invite everyone, both purebred and commercial cattlemen and women, to come tour the herd and to attend the sale. Come check out this powerful group of females one last time with their offspring before they move on to become herd building assets in other herds. I encourage you to come by prior to the sale day to take a good look and sort through the lots. Please feel free to give me a call so we can arrange a time to allow me to show you the cattle. I thank everyone for their interest in the BOB Charolais Program and I wish everyone all the success with your purchases.
Sincerely,
Bob
Welcome
FROM WRIGHT LIVESTOCK MARKETING
On Saturday, December 7th, an opportunity will be presented to cattle producers and the livestock industry alike that doesn’t happen often. After years of growth, development, planning and extensive investments of labour, time, money and many emotions, the decision has been made to disperse the BOB Charolais cowherd. Don’t miss the opportunity to join us in person on sale day at the Anchor D Simmental & Charolais Sale Barn near Rimbey, AB, to enjoy the fellowship of fellow cattle producers, partake in the sale of a high-quality offering of Charolais females, and to support the people of the BOB Charolais Female program in the Grand Finale, closing the chapter of their Charolais cowherd.
The decision to disperse a cowherd in its entirety that has been developed extensively over time is never an easy one to make, but with that bittersweet decision comes opportunity. Bob Burla has developed the herd over time, which is why you will see one of the most consistent, uniform, quality group of females being offered this fall. Bob reached the true goal of every cattlemen – developing a program of quality and consistency, which became the trademark BOB Charolais herd we see in these catalogue pages. He was always progressive in his breeding decisions, and the intricate breeding pieces he added to his program over the years has resulted in this offering of very productive females that can go out and work in any herd. What is also special about this offering is that the majority of the females, close to 90% of them, have the BOB herd prefix. If they don’t have the BOB prefix, a majority of them have the SOS herd prefix, which is the Springside herd prefix that BOB was a partner in and influential in the development of that program until branching off from it and developing a herd under his BOB prefix.
Over the years, Bob has had many successes with his herd, both in and out of the show ring, as well as having a hand in raising some of the well-known genetics that are working in the industry to this day. If there is a cattleman that knows his herd inside and out, and what his cows are capable of producing it is Bob. He is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to the females in this catalogue, and the history of the cow families which you can preview in his footnotes. Do not hesitate to ask him questions about his herd, he will proudly tell you about them, and everything that you want to know.
From the heifer calves right to the 10+ year old mature cows, these females are productive and can be very profitable investments to add to any cow herd. If you are looking at putting together a package of females to get consistency, you won’t find a better opportunity to do so then this offering. You can see what the cows have produced by looking no further than the calves that are on display beside them. The bull calves (anything displayed with a number and a B) and Anchor D females (anything displayed with a number and a Z) will not sell in this sale but are displayed to take out the guess work of the end results of what the calves are capable of producing. The bulls will sell on February 7th, 2025, in the 26th Annual Genetic Edge Bull Sale at Anchor D Simmental & Charolais. The calves displayed with a Z are the property of Anchor D.
We hope to see you at the sale. If you have any questions about the offering or require assistance in sourcing those females that will compliment your herd, go out and work for your, please don’t hesitate to call, we would be happy to assist you. The cattle will be available for viewing at Anchor D Simmental & Charolais in the days prior to sale day.
Our sincerest thank you to Bob Burla for allowing us in participating and marketing this truly unique and spectacular final offering of BOB Charolais females. It is truly an honour! We are excited to see these genetics go out and work for producers and wish Bob all the best as he embarks on the next bittersweet chapter of his adventures.
Sincerely,
Jon & Sarah Wright

Welcome
FROM SKEELS
Welcome to Bob Charolais dispersal sale. Our involvement with their program has spanned over several years, going back to when they were co-consigning cattle in Sandan spring Bull sale. I was always impressed by the quality of cattle that came from their program, and as the auctioneer, I really appreciated the quality they brought out. When we decided to get involved ourselves in the Charolais breed, our first call was to Bob. Already being somewhat familiar with the pedigrees and the program, we felt this was a herd of cows that would suit our vision as to where we wanted to head to with our own program. Over the past few years, we were able to lease a core group of cows from Bob. Our partnership allowed us to develop our own Charolais bull division in our own bull sale, as well as retain a few females for ourselves, with the bulk of the females headed back to Bob’s herd. Ironically, all the first calving replacement females we added back into our portion of the lease last year, were females that were born on our farm. This is an outstanding group of cows. They are developed on cow families, with great emphasis placed on performance, maternal, and dispositions. I can not stress enough how good the dispositions of these cattle are.
A little different this year, as all of Bob’s bulls will be on feed with our own, with the bulk of them selling in our Bull sale on February 7, 2025, at the ranch. The bulls will be available for viewing sale day or prior for anyone wanting to see what these cows can produce, as well as our portion of this year’s heifer calves that we will retain.
The cow herd has been run identical to our own. At the time the catalogue will be headed to press, they will still be on fall grazing, and then once winter feeding starts, they will be on cereal silage, with a mineral pack added. We give the cow herd Express 10 prior to breeding, and they will receive Guardian (scour vaccine), Safeguard (internal parasites), Clean Up (external parasites) and Covexin all prior to the sale.
I certainly encourage anyone looking to add some great Charolais genetics into their own herd to mark December 7th on your calendar. This will be an outstanding opportunity.
Sincerely,
Dan & Karen Skeels
Load Out Information
I thank everyone that will be making purchases, I apologize that there will be NO LOADOUTS until the SALES COMPLETION just due to the amount of cattle we are dealing with moving through the pens we can’t accommodate loadouts.
I would ask you when making settlement to provide your transportation plans for your purchases. I am so thankful to the Skeels for GRACIOUSLY HOSTING, making room on their ranch and looking after the entire offering leading up to the sale. So, like any good guest one must know when it comes time to leave and head for home. Any of the cattle purchased that are NOT PICKED UP at Anchor D by the morning of Tuesday December 10th, will be transported to Stettler to stay at the White Sands Feedlot, where they were being fed prior to being transported to Anchor D Ranch to AWAIT TRUCKNG to their new residences. The FEED COSTS($4.75/hd/day) plus any ADDITIONAL TRUCKING COSTS (return trip from Anchor D to Stettler feedlot) will be charged to the seller and due when cattle are leaving.
If any purchases are headed for export, arrangements for the proper health work procedures will be made for you however all cost is at the buyer’s expense.
I recommend that cattle not being taken directly from Anchor D Ranch CONSIDER INSURANCE for at least the time frame it takes to get them to their new operations destination. Colton Kasur from Canadian Farm Insurance (780-387-8376), will be onsite to meet anyone’s insurance needs.
Please give the clerks your exact transfer information as you wish it to be seen on the registration certificates. For anyone interested in hearing about my financing options please contact Jon Wright for an explanation of what the specifics of pursuing the options involve. The arranged financing if interested must be completed BEFORE TUESDAY DECEMBER 3rd, so decide well in advance of this date.

THE FFBB MISS SILVA PLD 730T FAMILY LOTS 1-12
I have said it, and I will say it again. The opportunity presented at a dispersal sale is one to take advantage of and not overlooked. I am so glad I made the trip to Manitoba for the Campbell Forsyth dispersal in 2013. I wish I would have taken more time to closely look at more of the cows and research their production as I would have purchased more than I did that day.
The five cows and two heifer calves that made the trip to Alberta made a huge influence on our herd. Miss Silva 730T was purchased with her 2013 heifer calf along-side her, Miss Abbi 307A a fancy fancy heifer calf that was wide flat topped, deep centered but still balanced and covered in thick, thick hair and was the spitting image of her dam. Miss Silva 730T was a Grand daughter of SOS Mr. Valentine PLD 39M, the high selling bull in our second bull sale March 2003, back in Shortdale MB in the Springside Sale Barn that was our old dairy barn that was converted into a calving barn and sale barn that summer after the dairy cows left.
Miss Silva 730T had eleven calves over 10 years, four bulls and seven heifer calves after arriving with Abbi 307A. She had 4 more daughters in a row for us. Abbi 307A, has two natural daughters and three embryo daughters in the sale, BOB 116E sired by Chuckwagon lot 1 and her Defender heifer calf 77M lot 1A, 116E’s other daughter to sell is BOB 21H sired by BOB’S Gambino is lot 2 with her Defender Bull calf being lot 2B and 307A’s other daughter selling BOB 50K sired by Go North is lot 3 and her Elders Jake heifer calf is lot 3A. Her three embryo daughters sired by WGD Ruger 8J are BOB 70M, 74M, and 75M they sell as lots 4, 5, and 6. FFBB 730T’s next daughter, SOS Sweet Cheeks 19B the dam of BOB 72H, a BOB’s Earned It Daughter lot 7 with her GO North Heifer calf, BOB’s MooBella 24M, ranked 4th for performance on daily gain out of 37 replacement heifers, she sells as lot 7A, Sweet Cheeks other daughter SOS 8D sired by Kingston lot 10 with her Mr. White heifer calf BOB 35M, lot 10A. SOS 8D has a HTA Defender daughter BOB 71H with a Mr. White daughter BOB 59M, they sell as lots 9 and lot 9A. The third daughter of 730T, who sold at Mike’s sale SOS Cha Cha 95C dam of SOS Ivanka 24G high selling heifer calf in Canada 2019 sold for $37,000. These were both full sisters to Abbi 307A as we were fortunate to make a deal with Campbell Forsyth and Hans Myer to purchase and walk CSS Navigator 20Y. Miss Silva 730T had twin Paster heifer calves in 2016 BOB’S Miss Sylvia 100D selling as lot 11 & BOB’S Miss Sylvania 101D selling as lot 12 with her Elders Jake bull calf on display as BOB 54M, lot 12B. Following these amazing producing daughters she had two final bull calves.
Many of my best customers have purchased bulls that are offspring from descendants and of Miss Silva 730T herself. Here are some of the customers who chose bulls with the Miss Silva 730T Pedigree. SOS Hooey 127D sold for $39,000 to Mctavish Charolais, BOB’S Hefner 20G sold for $8000 to Koehli Farms; BOB’S Jerry Seinfeld 22J sold for $6500 to Paulguard Farms, Anchor D Kieffer 116K sold for $7250 to Tyler Pletz; BOB’S Put It Into Drive 43E sold for $7300 to Doug Trout ; BOB’S Emoji 84E sold for $5900 to Cross Bar Ranch; BOB’S Juicy Wiggle 98F sold for $6750 to Nelson Creek Cattle Co.; BOB’S Hipster 62H sold for $5250 to R & K Hewitt Enterprises Ltd.; Anchor D Big Show 60L sold for $9500 to Koetha Cattle Co., Anchor D Visionary 111L sold for $9500 to Dwayne Schwengler; BOB’S Jimmy Chew 91J sold for $6750 to Bill Brown; Anchor D Hocus Pocus 100L sold for $9500 to Rob Sweet; BOB’S Wanted 32G sold for $5750 to Congdon Farms; JDF Heavy Duty 58L sold for $9250 to Warkentin Land & Cattle; BOB’S Jamboree 121J sold for $6000 to Nate Horner Ranches; KCC BOB’S Kraken 81K sold for $7500 to Cody and Dara Hallett; BOB’S Grover 118G sold for $5750 to Peter & Cecilia Dykstra; BOB’S Kit Kat Kabootal 16K sold for $6250 to Gould Ranching; BOB’S Snagglepuss 59G sold for $5250 to Nott’s Spruce Lane Farms Inc.; Anchor D Letang 8L sold for $7000 to Paulguard Farms; JAEL BOB’S Kevin 47K sold for $4200 to Miciak Farms. SOS Valentine 98F sold for $3900 to Ron Van Landuyt, SOS #Hashtag 61H sold for $9000 to Golden Harvest Farms. The sale of these 23 bulls totals $191,050; if you include all the females and the Hooey progeny, 280 registered offspring, sold you would be 10 times that value, not a bad return on the purchase of a female from a dispersal sale for $4500 dollars. Thanks, Campbell for raising some pretty darn good cattle, they turned out not too bad.

THE BOB’S MILK SHAKE 101E FAMILY Lot 13 - 17
The Milk Shake 101E family is a part of the herd because of my purchase from the Sandan Spring Calvers Dispersal sale and a heifer calf that I thought stood out by a mile and was backed by a strong cow family and a daughter of HTA Braddock which Mike and I chose for Ursula on a trip to Manitoba and a tour of HTA. SDC Blissfully Me 54B was my pick and it turned out to be a great one, because it produced one of my favourite cow’s Milk Shake 101E and she has produced 4 exceptional daughters’ lots 14-17 that all sell in the sale along with her, they are proving to be as good producers as their dam. Check out the bull calves displayed with BOB 10G and BOB 22K, they are two top bulls. I believe two years ago BOB’S Milkshake 101E slipped an early due fetus and rebred to calve in May, she repeated calving in May this year as well, and thus she has the youngest calf in the sale and her 2023 May Heifer by Elders Jake sells open and gives the buyer a heifer that will have nice size and they can breed her to the bull of their choice. The bull calf at side lot 13B will make a great two-year-old bull and if he is any bit as good as his two full sibling BOB’S Hot Darling 43H, lot 15 with her Elders Jake heifer BOB 58M at side lot 15A and his other full sib BOB’S Lilibet 22K selling as lot 16 with her Elders Jake bull calf at side lot 16B. The Eldest daughter BOB’S Chic 10G sired by Kingston sells as lot 14 and she has a fantastic Go North Bull calf that is worth a look, he’s a pretty fine specimen displayed as lot 14B.

This family is attributed to a Lady that I have profound respect for her eye for picking top end cattle. Her name is Kay MacMillan her and her Husband Glen established their herd KMAC FARMS in a similar way that our herd grew to have the numbers for our first bull sale, we both purchased groups of cows from the P-3 dispersal. They were fierce competition at the dispersal sale Kay with her clip board making notes on everything they looked at and Glen telling jokes to those around to steer the attention away from the cattle. Then in 2010 they planned to disperse their herd, I talked to Kay and said that I was only after one as we had moved from Manitoba to BC and had no permanent home for cattle. I still wanted something from their herd, so I asked Kay to pick me out their best heifer calf and that’s exactly what she did and as a result KMAC Perfect Teena 6T became an awesome cow producing VFF Vikse Timeout 172Y her first bull for $34,000 to Circle Cee and Excel Charolais. BOB 131E was her last heifer calf and she continues to produce like her mother. She sells as lot 18 and with three daughters and one granddaughter. Check out the power this brood cow has, the cross between KMAC 6T and Chuckwagon clicked very well. KMAC 6T’S first calf BOB’S Shakin It 89G, lot 20 out of SOS HOOEY is a moderate extremely muscled, perfect uttered heavy milking female that has produced three excellent offspring so far, her first bull by HVA Force 77H sold to Doug Trout. Her second calf a Heavy-Duty Heifer, BOB’S Katana 53K sells as lot 22. BOTH 89G and 53K will have their 2024 calves on display as lots 20B & 22Z. BOB 131E’S second daughter a Go North Heifer BOB’S Khaleesi 51K sells as lot 21. The third daughter is sired by HTA Defender 846F, BOB’S Lynette 30L selling as lot 19. Any one of these females has the potential to produce a big dollar bull or more likely multiple bulls they are just that good.

The SDC Taylor 12W Family
Lots 24 - 28
This cow family happens to be one of my favourite ones, Taylor12W was conceived back in Shortdale MB, she made the trip from Shortdale to Erskine and Sandan Charolais who fed our cows for the first winter they came to Alberta, inside SOS 91L, her momma’s belly, who was an embryo calf out of the Great P-3 Lady Monte 0-80Z and Chardel Turbo 964J. Both Taylor and her Dam SOS Lady Turbo 91L each produced many offspring that went on to produce their own lines of productive cattle. Taylor 12W had two females her first two years the first was a heifer retained by VFF as part of a leased group that included Taylor 12W she had a heifer calf but for some reason they didn’t go on to produce further. Taylors second heifer SOS Snookie Stack House 29B by HTA ICE 19X is an impressive brood cow who has three of her four heifer calves selling along-side her in the dispersal. BOB’S Neon Love 46H a WC Milestone sells as lot 26 and her 2024 bull calf by DRD Vision will be displayed as lot 26B, Neon Love is safe in calf to RPG Heavy Duty due January 11th. BOB’S Aurora Borealis 29K a Go North 2114H daughter is a spitting image of her dam she sells as lot 27 and her bull calf by Elders Jake will be displayed as lot 27B. BOB 29K is bred back safe to HTA Defender due Jan 11th. Snookie Stack House 29B’s 2024 heifer calf BOB’s Fantasia 78M by DRD Vision, her dam and her sell as lot 24 and lot 24A. Taylor 12W had bulls sell, her first to Mexico, her second to Vanpatten Farms, third to Jesse Bowen, and her fourth to Little Valley View Ranch. The heifer BOB Pinch Me 11F that is not selling in the dispersal sold in the heifer production sale 2018 to my very good friend who left us too soon and who I miss having him to talk to, our buddy Lorne. Miss you big guy! Lorne bought four heifers from the Working Girl production sale. One of the heifers was Taylor 12W 2018 heifer by SOS Hooey, BOB’S Crazy About You 25F and the third BOB’S Rainbow 23F and BOB’S Madame X 7G was a replacement for a heifer that would not settle and is a daughter of SOS 75C, lot 105. Rosedale Farms has purchased all 4 females, and they are doing very well. Taylor 12W’s third daughter SOS Taylor 123D a CSS Sir Navigator 20Y daughter sells as lot 25 and her 2024 Heavy Duty Daughter BOB’S Taylor 7M selling as lot 25A is SOS 123D’s only daughter other than BOB’S Dreams 7J that sold in the Genetic Opportunity bull and female sale to Mallory Charolais. SOS Taylor 123D however had 4 bulls sell, her first to Anchor Ranch, Clinton BC, Blue acres Farm, Cross Bar Ranch, Peter & Cecilia Dykstra. I always can tell a cow’s worth by the list of buyers attached to their progeny and I think Taylor 123D is Priceless. Taylor 12W’s fourth daughter SOS Tight Fittin’ Jeans 47E a SOS Harvester 54C daughter unfortunately was found dead, she got off centered on a bed pack while carrying a set of twins. She had two bulls sell to Kelly & Nathan Cook and to Branden Thompson. She has one daughter, and she is selling as lot 28, she is a Legend Daughter who had bulls sell to Harper Creek Cattle Co. and Master Loc Farms. She had an Elders Jake bull Calf this year however he was found bloated and dead just shortly after the cattle were turned out to grass. Taylor 12W herself had bulls sell to Valanjou Charolais, and to WYTECH Enterprises INC. in 2020 it was very disappointing to find Taylor 12W dead out in the pasture. She truly was a great cow.

The BOB’S Daisy Duke 135E Family Lot 29 - 30, Next Page
As they say, “These are the ties that bind us,” well the Daisy Duke 135E is the cow that does exactly that. The pedigree on this brood cow has Chuckwagon as its sire on the Top side of the pedigree, Chuckwagon being the 2016 National Champion Bull out of SDC 44W a matriarch in our herd who we will discuss coming up under her Family section. The bottom side of her pedigree has a lot of significance in it also, The SOS Princess Hannis188R family was one of many cow families that came to be from three heifer calves that Mike bought at the Ernie Hannis Dispersal sale in Paradise Hill SK. He came home with not just herd building females but industry building ones. Princess Hannis’s dam EFH Daisy Mae 30J we flushed to SB Sanchez and got three heifers that were and still are very influential females in both the Springside herd and the BOB Charolais herd. SOS 51W (dam of SOS Kendra 36D, Lot 114) SOS 50W (dam of SOS Eclipse 83E, herd sire for Coyote Flatts), and SOS 57W were big time producers. EHF 30J’s first calf to HTA Block Buster produced a female SOS Daisy Mae 5L who’s first bull by Wyoming Wind was SOS Hemi 65N who was one of the best Heifer bulls an Operation could ever come upon and a very influential bull for Springside Farms for many years and many offspring. EFH Daisy Mae was sold along with a group of cows to Pro-Char Charolais, and they bred her Redemption to produce Pro-Char Captain Morgan. Going Back to Princess Hannis 188R who had a heifer and sister to SOS ANGEL 266A DAM OF SOS Daisy Duke 135E was SOS Adele 167Z the dam of SOS Home Grown 15C sire of BOB’S Milk Shake 101E Lot 13, and sire of BOB’S Earned It 86E, the sire of Lots 7, 37, and 140). You can see how the BOB’S Daisy Duke 135E family is truly the ties that bind it all together.

ALT Autumn 108S if it can be said was an almost perfect Charolais female and I am a firm believer there is no such thing as perfect when it comes to cattle genetics, however if there was ever a cow that could be bestowed the honor of being perfect it was ALT Autumn 108S. Take a good look at her daughter BOB’S Buckle Bunny 78E and what a correct attractive female she is with mass and volume yet maintains that feminine look now picture 108S even better. ALT Autumn 108S produced ten offspring from 2008 to 2017 never missing a year. She had six daughters and four sons. Two of her bulls sold to Douglas Lake Ranch, of the six females, three were purchased along with their dam Alt Autumn 108S by us, the other three were born at Springside Farms before separating September 1, 2017. Alt Autumn 108S’s offspring have a bit of a track record, the 6 daughters and their daughters had 38 bulls that sold to these operations; Alta Pride Charolais, Anchor J Ranching (2), Bar LD Ranch, Bar LU Land & Cattle, R&C Beleski, Blue Acres Farm, Tyriel Bieganek, James A Bower, Bill Brown, CW Farms, Downie Lake Colony, Eagle Creek Ranching, Hewitt Brothers Ranching, Ron Hewitt (2), Highland Park Farms, JR Holte Farming Ltd., Nate Horner Ranching (2), HTA Charolais, Kuralta Ranching, Landaker Charolais, Madge Farms, Gordon McKay, Meridian Agriculture, Nish Charolais, Paradise Ranch, Plains Lake Colony, Brad Resch (3), Mark Robitaille, Murray Rowledge, Dale Rutz, Swanson Farms, T7 Bar Farms, Wendt & Murray Farms. The Anchor Whimsy 15W Family Lot 38; BOB’S Honeybee 107E & Lot 38A; BOB’S Madame Moolah 50M
BOB’S Honeybee 107E is an incredibly quiet and super easy to manage cow, she milks extremely well and puts everything into her calves. I want to mention because everyone eventually sees that her one front teat has a scar from a barbwire cut as a first calver, it healed and the teat and quarter are normal, she just has a scar to remember it by. Her two daughters in production are proving to be as good or better than their dam, and the same will be with her fancy Jake heifer calf BOB’s Madam Moola 50M at side. BOB 50M ranked third out of the thirty-seven heifer calves weaned, she gained 3.07 lbs. per day and weighed 665 lbs on August 25th.

The Altwasser Charolais Herd
I must give credit where credit is due: the purchase of the Altwasser herd in 2015 was a huge boost to our program and provided a whole new pool of genetic traits to work with. There are around eighty females in the sale offering you can trace back to the Altwasser herd. Congratulations Keith and Cheryl on breeding and raising what was one of the prominent herds of all time and the biggest influence on Charolais being used in BC. SOS Brown Sugar 88C is another exceptional cow that is an Altwasser influenced female out of a powerhouse bull HTA Tuff Enuff 947W, 88C has produced high sellers with BOB’S Pop A Top 48H selling to Koehli Farms in 2022, and both her bull calves in the 2019 and 2022 sales sold to Little Valley View Ranch. Her latest two bulls sold through the Anchor D bull sales to Simpson Cattle Co. and Mark Warren this year. SOS Brown Sugar is one of the Top five earning females in the sale offering. Her mating to SOS Harvester for a January 1st calf is an investment not to miss. by her onlookers. Her first two bull calves by Kingston sold to Harvie Ranching and her fourth and fifth selling to Squaw Valley Ranch and to Christiansen Farms. Her 2018 heifer sold in the heifer calf production sale to Jamison’s Charolais, her latest two heifers will be producing at Anchor D Ranch. The RRMM Dessire 13C Family; LOTS 51 & 52
An Alberta select purchase from Seven Quarter Circle Charolais. Dessire 13C has turned out to be a steady producer, her Elders Jake 2024 heifer BOB’S Majesty 49M is lot 51A and will sell along side Dessire Lot 51. Her 2023 Heifer BOB’S Lonesome Dove 49L by RPG Heavy Duty is a very eye appealing bred heifer, she is selling as lot 52 with a confirmed service to SOS Lazer 344L for a January 8th calf. RRMM 13C’S 2021 bull calf sold to Downie Lake Colony. Her other two bulls were shy on testicles, so this was a reason I chose to use 13C as a recipe this year and she is safe carrying a Vikse Tanis 148Y who is a SVY Time out, out of a BarJ Rupert Daughter crossed with Legacy’s Game Day 45G due January 14th.
The Anchor SOS Annette 15A Family LOTS 53-57
Annette is a hard-working cow who has performance calves which is due to her incredible ability to produce milk for her calves. Yes, her udder is not perfect but once her calves are onto it, they excel like zucchini on steroids. She often calves early, and I use her from time to time as a nurse cow for a twin. She is carrying and embryo by Legacy Game Day and VFF Tanis 148Y due January 8th. She sells as lot 53, her 2024 bull BOB’s Big Mac 19M will be displayed as lot 53A.
She has two Daughters selling along with her, SOS Sittin’ Pretty 3C her first calf by Detonator sells as lot 55 and her Go North bull calf BOB’S Morrel 28M will be displayed as lot 55B. She also is carrying an embryo by Game Day and VFF Tanis 148Y due on January 8th as well. SOS 3C sells with two daughters, BOB’s Juice Jugs 43J a HTA Defender daughter, lot 56 and her Vision heifer calf BOB’s 98M sells as lot 56A. The other daughter is BOB’s Arctic Fox 43K a Go North daughter whose calf was steered this time around.
Annette’s last heifer calf by Heavy Duty 33H, BOB’S Lanette 59L is a good size bred heifer that looks like she will turn into a nice cow, she is confirmed bred to SOS Lazer 344L for a January 11th calf, she sells as lot 54.

The BOB’S Back Road Beauty 97E Family Lots 58 - 60
B.B.R.B. 97E, is a BKJ Chavez 826Y daughter out of ALT 106S a Moore’s Legacy and Barbwire Daughter. She was a cow I liked very much and thought she was one of the strongest Charolais females I had ever come to know. She was just so complete and feet and legs I don’t think you could beat her when it came to how solid her big foot with just the right amount of set to them. She milked well, udder shape and positioning of teats were good they weren’t two small but ideal for a calf to attach and hold it. She is a cow I wish I would have tried flushing, but timing wasn’t good.
B.B.R.B. 97E had 3 females and all three will be selling with her in the sale, BOB 97E sells as lot 58 and her 2024 heifer calf BOB’S Marmalade 29M by Elders Jake is lot 58A. BOB 97E was bred to SOS Mr. White 46K and is safe and due for a January 27th calf. Her other daughters BOB’s Blinding Light 59H; lot 59, now that’s a coincidence that’s a good sign. She had a bigger calf and was cut from the bull pen, not a characteristic of the pedigree or cow family. She has had four bull calves, and she had a set of twins as a first calf heifer. The twins sold in 2023 to Walstrom Farms and South Ridge Ranch. The third daughter BOB’S Joy Ride 13J is a WC Milestone who will sell as lot 60. She had a bull calf last year by Elders Jake that sold in the bull sale to F5 Livestock Ltd., she had a bull calf again this year by DRD Vision and he will be displayed sale day as lot 60A. Joy Ride is bred to Go North for a due date of January 15th. Now that is one to look forward to, I feel. This is a very strong cow family and has a lot of potential awaiting it. BOB 97E had two bulls sell, her first a Detonator bull calf sold to Denis and Danielle Bouvier, they said he was an excellent heifer bull. The other bull was the 2023 High Seller a HTA Defender bull calf selling to a progressive cattle operation by Hanna, Kelly Anderson picked this high seller for his herd. Excellent selecting Kelly.
Bred to SOS Chuck Wagon 54C on March 26th. Exposed to DRD Vision 848H from April 14th - June 2nd. Expected due date: January 5th, 2025.

A no miss cow that has produced her heart out for us over the years. She has the second highest gross earnings of all the females in the dispersal sale. She sells with her one daughter and granddaughter, lots 62 & 63. ALT 91A produced seven sons all selling through the various bull sales we were apart of over the years. The list of the buyers of her bulls says a lot about what a great producer she truly is. The buyers were Downey Lake Colony, Cross Bar Ranch, Blue Acres Farm, Brad Loesch, Gordon McKay, Lane Purdy, and Peter and Cecilia Dykstra. ALT 91A has another bull this year Anchor D Mardell 91M and he will be on display sale day as lot 61B.

THE SOS BARBARA STREISAND 4B FAMILY LOTS 64-68
SOS Barbra Streisand 4B is a Knockout of a producer and one of my favourite cows selling. Her first three calves were bulls that sold in bull sales the later two sales operating as BOB Charolais. SOS 47D sold to James Bower, BOB 57E sold to Dean Volk, and BOB Raised That 63F sold to Landaker Charolais.Following the three bulls Barbra Streisand had an awesome Home-Grown heifer BOB’S GaGa 57G that was part of the Anchor Lease group of females. She was bred HVA Force 77H and had a fancy heifer calf her first year, BOB’S Jody 68J who sells as lot 66. Unfortunately, BOB 57J had a strange infection and was found dead on pasture that summer. I retained BOB 68J and bred her SOS Titanium 194J her first year and she had a bull calf, Anchor D Titanium 68L which sold to Harry Rogers for $8000. BOB’S Jody was bred HTA Defender 846F for a second calf, she ended up having a Defender heifer Calf BOB’S Moana 99M, lot 66A. SOS Barbra Streisand 4B had her best calf thus far in 2020, a Milestone bull calf BOB’S Country Mile that was one of the high sellers in the 2021 bull sale. He sold to Mckeary Charolais and had some fantastic calves for them, the bulls topped their bull sale the first year selling. The following year she was bred BOB’S Gambino 12F and had another amazing heifer calf BOB’S Janice Joplin 15J bred to SOS Titanium her first year and produced a thick hairy angular heifer calf which I chose to retain, and she became BOB’S Leona Lewis 33L selling as lot 67. Janice Joplin was bred HTA Defender her second year and had a later bull calf which did not measure up to the stiff competition. Janice Joplin 15J sells as lot 65 and is bred much earlier due to calve mid January to Defender. SOS Barbra Streisand 4B in 2022 had a bull calf sired by Heavy Duty which was set to sell through the Anchor D 2023 bull sale, catalogued as lot 108, passed semen test and all, the bulls with the warm weather got to fighting and Anchor D Kampo 4K died due to injuries sustained by the fighting between the bulls. SOS 4B had a Defender Heifer calf in 2023, BOB’S Lizzo 47L is very much like her dam with a wide skull and muzzle, angular yet has bone and substance to her, very well covered in muscle and a tremendous hair coat with a creamy tinge to it. BOB’S Lizzo 47L sells as lot 68, she has a very early January service to BKJ Chavez 826Y. This will make for an exciting calf of either sex. SOS Barbra Streisand 4B is one of the gentlest cows and a great momma, I am excited for who ever buys her because I know you’ll be so happy you did; she sells as lot 64 and what an exciting cross her calf for this year will be as she is bred for the first time to Go North 2114H due January 24th.

Euphoria 36G was orphaned as a calf, her dam a respectable Round Up daughter developed a throat cancer quite far along in her pregnancy with Euphoria and died about two and a half months after giving birth, after her mother died or even much sooner, she took to stealing milk from other cows and somehow that’s how she got by till weaning. She was small but had great hair which she passes on to her calves, so she stayed, and I am glad she did as she is a very good mom and a solid producing cow. She does have a bit of a flaw, however. So, she was always a bit of a loner as a calf and now she is the same way, she likes it when she is left alone. When the herd goes one way, she tends to go the other. Euphoria 36G is a BOB’s Integrity 126D daughter he was SDC 44W’s bull calf by SOS Homegrown 15C that was my high seller in my first sale of BOB’S Bull’s selling in the first Legacy Bull Sale to BAR LD Ranch, Luke Tellier from Bonnyville. There are three integrity daughters in the herd, and they are lots 74 which is Euphoria, lot 109 from the WJS 620D Family and lot 111 from the Steppler 6112D Family. BOB’s Euphoria 36G has only had daughters, four of them. Her first daughter BOB’s June 81J by HVA Force 77H sold in the 2022 bull sale to Borradaile Cattle Co. from Vermillion. Her second daughter BOB’s Rue 45K sold in the 2023 Genetic Opportunity Bull and Female sale to Anchor D Ranch. She had a bull calf by DRD Vision who will sell in the February 7th Bull sale at Anchor D Ranch. Her third daughter JDF Bobbie 345L by RPG Heavy Duty 33H was retained as part of the lease agreement with Jaydawn Charolais. Now this year she had a heifer calf, BOB’s Macey 37M by GO North 2114H who will sell along side her dam as lot 74A. Four good heifers by four different sires, says a bit of what kind of producer 36G is and will be like. She sells carrying a Legacy’s Gameday 45G embryo out of the VFF 148Y Cow. She was one that happen to come in on her natural cycle the day the synchronized recips cycled. She is due to have the embryo calf on January 8th.

THE WOOD RIVER PRINCESS 28N FAMILY LOTS 75-78
Mike really wanted to buy the show heifer that Wood River Charolais was selling in a bred heifer sale she was out of a Bull called Cowboy and this Wood River Princess Cow 28N, well it happened that Oates Charolais from Ontario had deeper pockets than he did so after no getting the product he went and made a deal to buy the factory. HMG Wood River Princess was flushed three times, once to Lanza, once to Paster, and once to Cowboy, I ended up with two of her flush embryo heifer calves one by Lanza SOS 9D lot 78. SOS Kelly 9D had only one heifer calf, her first a Zeal, BOB’S Cardi B 22F the year that I sold the entire heifer calf crop through the Working Girl Sale in 2018 selling to K-COW Ranch. Her next 5 calves where all bulls! Her 2019 bull BOB’s Gilbert Grape 84G sold in the first BOB Charolais, “Bring on The Bulls” Bull Sale at the Agricultural Society in Stettler. BOB 84G was sired by SOS Gaucho and sold to Ivan and Lloyd Larson from Stettler. Her next bull calf in 2020 was a Force, BOB’s Champion who sold to Cross Bar Ranch in the 2021, “Bring on The Bulls” sale. The third bull she had was a HTA Defender BOB’s Jethro Bodine 65J that sold to F & B Farms Ltd. from Consort. Her fourth bull a GO North 2114H BOB’s King Pin 46K sold to Hewitt Farms at Coronation. Her fifth bull a second by HTA Defender JDF Defender 92L unfortunately died at Jaydawn. And this brings us to her bull calf this year who will be displayed sale day as lot 78B is an Elders Jake BOB’s Mash Up 60M. So, I would say she has some production behind her she is number twelve in the herd for gross dollars of production. Check her out on DLMS the video or at the Anchor D sale day, you can’t miss her by her huge ears. The other embryo daughter I got in the herd splitting was SOS Cineplex 1C a Pastor daughter who also has done quite well with her production record. Her calf ratio bulls to heifers are a lot more even than her maternal sisters was, she has four females and three males. SOS Cineplex 1C’s first calf, a BKJ Chavez, SOS Blockbuster 16E sold to Paul Wiens from Herschel SK. Her next year she had a heifer BOB’s Muffin 43F by SOS Chuckwagon 54C that was also in the heifer calf production sale selling to EMB Charolais in Ontario. Her third calf a Defender heifer BOB’s Love Train 80H was retained in the herd, she had two heifers and a bull, her first a heifer out of High Roller sold through the Genetic Opportunity Bull and Female sale. Her second a heifer also by RPG Heavy Duty 33H, BOB’S Love Train 27L sells in the dispersal as lot 77, this year she calved on the -53 night of the Polar Vortex that was truly hell on earth, with the propane heat gelled up and the humidity in the barn was at 100% with all the animals I had jammed in there, we dried the calves off in our little heated room but at some point we had to give them back to their mothers so we put them out, but we didn’t see what was going on because our camera system was down and 80H’s bull calf was trying but didn’t nurse as she wouldn’t stand for him because two quarters were full of mastitis from the extreme cold they had to endure when they went out to eat and drink. He was weak and frozen, and he died the next day, there were two others born that night and day that happened the same fate. We ended up shipping 80H a few months later. SOS Cineplex 1C had a bull in 2021 by WC Milestone, BOB’s Imax 46J who was tied for the high selling bull in the 2022 bull sale to Les Isaac from New Norway. The following year SOS 1C had a Go North Heifer, Anchor D Kallie 17K that was retained by Anchor D through the lease agreement. SOS 1C’s next calf a heifer by DRD Vision BOB’s Little Miss Sunshine 56L was retained and sells in the dispersal as lot 76, she is bred to SOS Lazer 344L due March 2nd. This year SOS Cineplex 1C has a bull by HTA Defender, Anchor D Missel 1M that will be displayed sale day as lot 75B. SOS 1C is bred back again to HTA Defender and is due on January 12th.

The Princess Kate family is quite small in numbers as far as lots in the dispersal but in all actuality it is humongous. She has 25 registered offspring as of the time I am writing this so non of her 2024 embryo calves have yet to be registered, but of those that are she has 8 full sibs to BKJ Chavez 826Y which include Jessica 34B. There are ten full sibs to PCC Bourbon 118J, which includes SOS Lazer 344L the new herd sire for BOB Charolais who will be selling as lot 152. SOS Lazer is the service sire to 22 of the females selling in the dispersal sale. Six full brothers averaged $23,167 in the Springside bull sale.
There are three sibs to CSS Sir Navigator 20Y these are all natural calves of Princess Kate 33Y, which includes SOS Harvester 61C and SOS Jessie 144D who sells as lot 79 and her 2024 bull Anchor D Maddox 144M by HTA Defender will be displayed as lot 79B. The third Navigator calf is BOB’s GPS 143E who sold in 2018 Legacy bull sale to David Zaborski.
Princess Kate 33Y has four offspring thus far to Duty Free 358D, two daughters are owned by Highway 21 Feeders and Springside is the owner of the third. There is one natural daughter registered sired by Apex 139F, and a second natural daughter registered sired by SOS Chuckwagon 54C. SOS Jessie 144D has a daughter sired by HTA Defender who sells along with her dam as lot 80. BOB’s Lupita 34L has an early service to Winn Mans Chavez 826Y due to calve on January 4th. SOS Jessie is also bred to Winn Mans Chavez 826Y due on January10th.
A Harvester daughter BOB’s Fancy 61E sells as lot 81 and she is selling with her 2024 heifer BOB’s Maleficent 72M sired by RPG Heavy Duty 33H selling as lot 81A. Fancy 61E is an offspring of a productive Altwasser cow family that has produced multiple purebred level seed stock. Fancy 61E has a very good track record with sales on her offspring. Her first heifer calf BOB’s Tempting You 26G sired by BKJ Chavez sold to Kelly Anderson from Hanna. The next year she had a set of twin bull calves sired by HVA Force 77F that sold in the bull sale the following year, selling to Kainai Charolais. The following year she again had a heifer calf BOB’s Pose 45J sired by BOB’s Gambino 12F, Pose 45J was sold as a first calver in the Genetic Opportunity Sale, she had a Titanium heifer calf, BOB’s Lizzo 1L along side her when she sold to bull sale partners Rosedale Farms from Morrinville, AB. In 2022 Fancy had a second set of twin bulls sired this time by Go North 2114H and they both sold in 2023 in the Northern Classic sale to Bar C Three Cattle Co.

SOS Peaches was a high selling lot in the Springside Farms Production Sale in 2021, selling to Highway 21 Feeders for $22,000. There is only one lot selling from the Peaches Family and that is Lot 82 BOB’S Havana 60E a SOS Harvester 54C daughter and her Elders Jake Bull Calf BOB’S Miller Time 40M, Lot 82B will be displayed on sale day. Havana 60E is a voluminous female that milks very well as reflected in her Elders Jake bull calf weaning off at 760 lbs. on August 25th, gaining 3.29 lbs. per day. For those of you that put a lot of emphasis on cow families like I do, here is a little tad bit of family lineage info, SOS Peaches 42B’s Great Grand Mother, PCC Miss Prairie Cove 4K and ALT 108S’s dam are indistinguishably alike.

THE SDC BACHELORETTE 44W FAMILY LOTS 83-89
This was one of my hardest write ups and it should have been the easiest. Where does one start to explain Bachelorette 44W, well I guess I will start by saying that she had her last calf on April 29th a 80 lbs HTA Defender heifer calf that will be on the small side as she was totally weaned on August 6th when the decision to send 44W to greener pastures was made, she was fifteen going to be sixteen this coming January, She wasn’t milking much as you could tell her calf was not flourishing the way they normally would and her hips were showing stress likely due to the repeated bulling she was continuously going through. I often think about how different things could have been if our industry had the same gradual rate of inflation that almost every other sector of the economy saw, it is one of the hardest parts of the raising of domesticated animals that are destined for the food chain, after a life time of giving towards our survival we can’t afford to reward them somehow, and it’s a very mixed emotion when you make the decision to end their existence. The slaughter values this summer were almost unimaginable, that when an older productive cow went to auction the last two years, it almost made one feel a bit guilty or selfish, like I said it’s a good life but not always an easy one. SDC 44W brought $1.89/lbs and weighed 1570 lbs., comes to $2967.30, 15-year-old cow, back when she was born, we were selling pick of purebred pairs for less. Any purebred cow that produces a National Champion with in one’s breed the cow that produced that champion gets our respect and admiration always, you can’t take that away from her bar non. SOS Chuckwagon 54C, Bachelorette 44W’s sixth calf of the 15 calves that she bore, and all lived, including two sets of mixed twins. There are four chuckwagon daughters selling in the sale and all four are champions as far as I am concerned. I was able to buy some cows from my friends Dave and Tracee, she is a Detonator daughter who just happened to be SDC Bachelorette 44W’s very first calf, VFF Bachelorette 13Y, she looks very much like her mother, and she had a heifer calf BOB’s Lemonade 32L sired by C2 Merle Haggard 1H, she is bred to SOS Lazer 344L due on January 26th. VFF 13Y had a HTA Defender bull calf, BOB’S Mixed Tape Montage 65M this year and he will be displayed at the sale as lot 83B. SDC 44W’s previous five bull calves, which include Chuckwagon the 2016 National Champion with 413 registered progeny already, two sons working for Lambert Livestock, Burns Lake BC and Vikse Air Time 175A selling to Pleasant Valley Farms at Irma AB has 50 registered offspring and 2018’s high seller BOB’S Integrity 126E was purchased by Bar LD Ranch, Bonnyville, AB, BOB’S Integrity 126E has 129 registered offspring. BOB’S Prairie Boy 62F a standout Gusto bull calf sold in the 2019 Legacy Bull Sale to Paul Guard Farms. SOS Khaleesi 57, a Pastor daughter at SOS who raised a Hooey Daughter 87F the Senior Champion Heifer calf at the National Charolais Show at Farm Fair in 2019. In 2020 44W had a set of WC Milestone calves one male and one female, BOB’s Twitter Feed 54H, and BOB’s Love Island 55H. We sold the heifer so the bull would have a better chance to become a bull for the sale. He turned out to quite a nice bull calf, and he sold to Gary Butcher. In 2021 44W Bachelorette had a set of twins one Male, BOB’s Jumanji 52J and a female, BOB’s Charlie 53J that we sold as a baby calf to allow the bull calf sired by WC Milestone to get a chance at turning out to be a breeder bull. He did end up tuning out to be a good bull and he sold in the 2022 bull sale to Myron Fawcett Holdings Inc. In 2022, 44W Bachelorette had a heifer calf, BOB’s Bachelorette 244K sired by BOB’s Real Country 73H, she was born on May 26th. She was bred to HTA Defender 846F and she calved on March 29th having a heifer, BOB’s Martina 63M. BOB’s Bachelorette 244K is bred back to HTA DEFENDER for 2025, She is due to calve on March 24th, 2025. They sell as lots 85 and 85A. SDC 44W’s second last calf is also a heifer calf, BOB’s Bachelorette 36L is sired by Elders Jake 194J, she was born on May 11th. She was bred to SOS Lazer 344L and is due to calve on March 21st. BOB 36L sells as lot 86 SDC Bachelorette 44W’s 2024 calf is her last, BOB’s Bachelorette 67M is sired by HTA Defender 846F, she was born April 29th and weaned on August 6th. Given time I am confident that this little female will be a powerful producing cow one day. She sells as lot 87!

Alberta Made 51D has always been an eye-catching female that any that have toured the cows always ask the question, “Who’s that cow?”, and she most certainly is a cow that stands out. She has just so much body to her and is wide across the back and hip bones that you could set the dinner table on her back. She has that attractive broad muzzle that gives her that productive look. When she has a full udder, it is another physical asset that adds to that productive stereotype and this all adds to onlookers wanting to know more about Alberta Made 51D. She sells as lot 90 confirmed safe to HTA Defender 846F, due on January 23rd. In 2024 she had a set of Elders Jake twin bulls, 56M was left on her and 57M was fostered. BOB’s Moophasa 56M did well on his momma’s milk and is in the bull pen and will be displayed sale day as lot 90B. Her fostered twin looked less productive and was culled. Moophasa was 98 lbs. and 57M was 90 lbs. so there was an additional advantage off the start. Three of Alberta Made 51D’s four daughters sell in the dispersal with her as well as one of her maternal sisters BOB’s Santa Clarita 109E by SOS Harvester will sell as lot 94 with her 2024 bull calf Anchor D Montel 109M out of HTA Defender 846F displayed as lot 94B. FVSF MS ICE 43B FAMILY LOTS 96-99
Ms. Ice 43B was a must have when she came through the ring at the Float Valley dispersal. She proved to be an excellent choice as she had bulls that sold to all these operations, OX Ranch, Stettler, Christianson Farms Ltd., Rainer, Rodney Paulguard at Hayter, Hudson’s Lazy H Ranch, Aldersyde AB, Kevin Olmstead, Rocky Mountain House AB. Having a heifer calf this spring who will make a heck of a cow someday for her new owners. FVSF 43B sells as lot 96 along with her Heavy-Duty heifer calf BOB’S Mia 90M is lot 96A. FVSF 43B has had three daughters her first that sold in the dispersal and her 2024 heifer calf, and the third is BOB’S Scandal 177E a Whitehot Morocco daughter that sells as lot 97 and along side her, 177E’s 2024 Elders Jake heifer, BOB’S Miriam 46M will sell as lot 97A. BOB 64M was the high-performance heifer calf at weaning beating out all 36 other heifer calves. A rate of daily gain of 3.1 lbs. per day and a weaning weight of 685 lbs on August 25th. BOB’S Scandal 177E had only one bull calf, born in 2021 and was marked to sell in the 2022 bull sale but during one of our intense cold snaps he developed pneumonia and perished. This leaves BOB 177E with only daughters, who are BOB’s Breeze 58K a Go North daughter who sells as lot 98 and her Elders Jake bull calf will be on display as lot 98B. Another daughter of BOB 177E is BOB’S Lightning Bug 44L also a Go North daughter who will sell as lot 99. THE KCM TATANIA 928W FAMILY LOTS 100-104
My favourite pick from the Float Valley Dispersal Sale, we purchased her dam RPG 928W and her maternal sister FVSF 46B. FSVF 65A’S first bull sold to Squaw Valley Ranch, Lumby, BC. Her second bull was a sale high seller selling to Cross Bar Ranch, Consort, AB. The third bull by Milestone a very impressive bull brought $9000 selling to a good neighbor just down the road, Ron VanLanduyt. The following year her Defender bull was extremely popular with all the bull customers, BOB 44H sold to Harold Galliford from Jarvie, AB. In 2021 I finally got the heifer I was waiting for out of HVA Force 77H Bull, but as luck would have it, the high-performance heifer that she was went and bloated on me and died. The following year FVSF 65A returned to having bulls and her bull by RPG Heavy Duty 33H sold to Kevin Olmstead. In 2023 I got a second chance at a heifer out of FVSF 65A by DRD Vision. BOB’S Liv 58L has got a broad face and muzzle which I like in my females, and you can see she has adequate bone and a good set to her legs, she is going to be moderate but still the depth of body that her mother has plus more of and a thicker coat of hair than her dam. BOB’S Liv 58L is bred to BKJ Chavez 826Y due January 21, 2025, and she sells as lot 101. FSVF 65A had her sixth bull this year and you will check mark her bull on February 7th when he sells at the Anchor D bull sale. Check him out being on display at the dispersal sale as him and his dam are lot 100 & lot 100B. FVSF 65A’S sister was a no miss producer and did very well during the time I had her, selling three bulls from FVSF 46B and a set of twin heifer calves through the bull sales. I retained her 2017 heifer BOB’S Eva 180E by CML Manhattan 449B, she sells as lot 102 and her heifer calf by RPG Heavy Duty 33H will sell along side as lot 102A. BOB 180E is doing an equal job to her mother and aunt. Her first daughter by Chavez, BOB’S Lollipop 19G is in the herd and is in step with the rest of the cow family her first bull calf BOB’S Jetsky 99J sold to Shane & Melissa Hauge, her bred heifer BOB’S Lollipop 25L sells as lot 104 and she is lot 103 in the sale with her Heavy-Duty bull calf on display as 103B.

The FFBB Mommasgirl PLD 930W cow is one of the five cows that I purchased from the Forsyth Bros Charolais dispersal in 2013. Her success for us is with her two daughters she had back-to-back in 2014 and 2015. The first being the CSS Sir Navigator 20Y heifer she was carrying when we purchased her in 2013. SOS Baby Girl 21B was a knockout of a cow in many ways, she was beautifully put together from the hairs on her long bushy tail to the tips of her long full eye lashes, solid, wide, long but still deep and voluminous, had a stunning facial feature with big eyes and ears, and her udder was possibly the best I have ever seen. The kind of cow you would want a whole herd like. Baby Girl 21B had three bull calves SOS Bruno Mars 136D, sire Kingston, selling in the Sandan/Springside Bull Sale for $10,000 to Steve VanOstrom, Rimbey, AB, SOS Veselka PLD 124E, sire Homegrown, selling to Sliding Hills Charolais, Canora, SK at the 2018 Sandan/Springside Bull sale for $20,500, and BOB’s Burn’n It Down 29F, sire Chavez, selling in the Legacy Bull Sale to Cross Bar Ranch, Consort AB., for $5900.00. Baby Girl 21B had a heifer calf after the three bulls, BOB’s Gardenia 48G, sire Chavez, who is producing and will sell as lot 106 and her 2024 bull calf, sire Defender, will be displayed sale day as lot 106B. BOB’s Gardenia 48G has had a bull in 2021, BOB’s Juice Box 54J, sired by Force sold to Rodney Paul Guard, Hayter, AB. In 2022 BOB 48G had a heifer calf BOB’S Karmen 52K sired by RPG Heavy Duty 33H, she sells as lot 107. She raised a bull calf this year sired by Elders Jake 194J, was on the small side so he was steered. BOB’s Karmen 52K is bred back to DRD Vision 848H due on January 13th. Gardenia 48G had a heifer calf in 2023 but it was on the weaker side of the replacements, so she was culled not registered. The second heifer by FFBB Mommasgirl 930W is SOS GIGI 75C sired by Silver Stream Geddies, she is a big frame cow that can add some punch to the performance on her calves. Her first calf was BOB’s Cutie Pie 25E that was our first consignment to a group sale, she would sell in the 2017 Working Girl Sale in Innisfail. About 4 weeks before the sale day we came outside to find her dead on the bed pack. Really bad luck as she was a heck of a heifer calf. The next year GIGi 75C had a bull, BOB’s Dynamite 74F, sired by PH Callahan 192C, selling to XO Ranch from Stettler. The following year GiGi had a second heifer calf, BOB’s Madame X 7G, sired by Homegrown 15C, Spruce View had a heifer from the Working Girl purchases that didn’t settle. Lorne came down and he selected Madame X 7G as a replacement for the heifer that did not turn out. She has produced a bull calf in 2022. SOS GiGi 75C had a bull next, BOB’s Perfect Vision 28H sired by HVA Force sold in the 2021 BOB Charolais bull sale, selling to Koehli Farms from Daysland, AB. Another bull in 2021 sired by MC Milestone, BOB’s Jolly Roger 12J however he only had one descended testicle. In 2022 she calved out an Integrity Heifer calf Anchor D Klare 28K, she was part of the lease agreement going to Anchor D. Klare had a bull calf by DRD Vision her first year but was steered. In 2023 GiGi had a bull sired by RGP Heavy Duty and he sold this past February to D Over R Cattle Co. BOB’s GiGi 75C has an Elder’s Jake Bull in the bull pen this year, he will be displayed sale day as lot 105B with his dam selling as lot 105. These are the members of the Mommasgirl Family.
THE WJS DAYBRIEL 620D FAMILY LOTS 108-110
I bought this cow as a heifer from Byron and Bernice Johnson, it was one of their consignments to the Alberta Select Sale in 2016, she has turned out to be an excellent pick, she is so nice to handle and is a great momma cow. She also is a bit of a money maker which is always nice when buying a female to add to the herd. Her track record is she has not missed thus far, producing 4 daughters and 3 bull calves. The three bulls sold to Jim Bowie, Downie Lake Colony, and to Neil and Theresa Vance who made her bull the high selling Charolais bull of the sale bringing $12,0000. In the very same sale, her daughter BOB’S Alexa 3H who sells in the dispersal also had a bull calf selling and it sold to Warkentin Land and Cattle for $7750. BOB 3H sells as lot 109 and her Elder’s Jake heifer calf BOB’S Maggie 23M sells as lot 109A. WJS’s 2022 heifer by Heavy Duty, BOB’S Iron Maiden 24K will sell as lot 110 and her calf BOB’S Marissa 13M an Elders Jake female sells as lot 110A. WJS 620D is lot 108 and her 2024 heifer also an Elders Jake will sell along side her dam as lot 108A. WJS 620D is the top 25 when it comes to total gross earnings. WJS 620D is what I call a good bet as with any of her offspring selling.

Miss Steppler 6112D was my pick of the heifer calves from Andre’s first production sale. She had been a good producing cow having three daughters in a row and then a bull which unfortunately got sick and died on me, and then she came in open. Her first daughter turned into an excellent cow who was picked out of the entire 2018 heifer calf crop as a Junior project by Tyler Young, Rosedale Farms who eventually became guest consigners in my annual bull sales in Stettler. Tyler showed BOB’S I’m a Looker 14F at various shows and won several awards including Champion Female at the 2019 Canadian Bull Congress Event in Camrose. Congratulations Tyler on great success with BOB 14F. The two other heifers BOB 62G and BOB 13H the first by Chavez and the second by BOB’S Integrity each produced several calves. BOB’S 62G had a good bull her first year that sold to Nate Horner Ranches, her next year she got late and calved in summer having a heifer calf which was going to be held over and bred the following year, a real performance heifer that unfortunately overate and bloated. BOB 62G again calving late had a bull calf again that was performing exceptionally well unlucky it was as a pack of coyotes got him for lunch. BOB 62G was held open to get back calving in winter but as luck would have it, she aborted and was shipped. The third daughter by Integrity BOB’S Legally Blonde 13H sells as lot 111, she had a bull her first year that sold through the bull sale for $5500 to Harold Galliford. Her Next was a heifer by RGP Heavy Duty 33H lot 112 bred to BKJ Chavez 826Y for a Jan1 baby. BOB 13H’S bull calf from this year was born in the Polar Vortex and had a ruff start with a bit of pneumonia which it recovered from only to have its leg broken by cows in heat. So, he ended up at VJV this September. She too is bred for a Jan 1 calf to SOS Mr. White 46K.

The SOS Love Drunk 51W Family, LOTS 114-116
SOS 51W is a daughter of EFH 30J one of the Ernie Hannis purchases that were game changers for our herd. Refer to the Daisy Duke 135E Family, Lot 18 for a bit more of the background on EFH 30J. SOS 51W has 10 offspring all of which have sold at one time or another to various purebred herds. The only offspring that was retained and still part of either herd is SOS Kendra, A Kingston sired female that was shown at Agribition and was first in class. She like her dam has now had seven offspring which includes one set of bull twins. Her first calf by Winn Mans Chavez 826Y sold in the 2018 Working Girl sale and BOB’S Beauties Heifer calf production sale, selling to Scott Johnston, Johnston Charolais from Treherne MB. Kendra 36D’s second calf another heifer BOB’s Sour Soother 76G sired by SOS Hooey 127D, has produced three calves thus far and will have many more opportunities like her mother and grandmother did. SOS Sour Soother 76G’s first calf a heifer calf, BOB’s Jordan 70J that was sold through the BOB Charolais bull sale in Stettler. Jordan 70J sold to Little Valley View Ranch, her second heifer was retained in lease agreement. The next calf was a HVA Force sired bull calf selling to TJ Farms at Spirit River. Kendra’s third calf is BOB’S Real Country 73H sired by HTA Defender 846H selling to Alta Pride Charolais in the 2021 bull sale. Kendra’s fourth and fifth calf were the twin bulls, BOB’S Gun Slinger 107J and BOB’s Holster 106J, twin Angle H Northern Spirit 367D was their sire, there are two Northern Spirit’s daughters selling in the sale, lots 62 & 92. Kelly Anderson from Hanna selected Holster 106J as a two-year-old in the 2023 Genetic Opportunity Sale, Holster 106J was the high selling bull of the sale. The next calf for SOS 36D is her name’s sake heifer BOB’s Kendra 55K sired by GO North 2114H. Kendra 55K’s calf by Elders Jake was one of the fatalities resulting from the polar vortex that punished everything for days last January. THE ANCHOR RANCH (WEA) HERD
The Altwasser Herd wasn’t the only B.C. herd we purchased almost in its entirety before them first came the Anchor Ranch Herd from Clinton B.C. owned by Rob and Anne Willis. The herd had a strong A.I. bred influence along with some home raised sires that didn’t hurt the herds strength by any means. The cows had an abundance of milk which produced some big, weaned calves that were impressive and added to interest in purchasing the herd. Once again, I must give the credit for many of the females selling, to the Willis’s as there are around 60 females that originate from the Anchor Ranch Herd. Thank you, Rob and Anne, for producing such an outstanding herd of Charolais cows and for selling them as you can see, they did well for us. The cows came to Alberta and spent the first winter being fed and calved out by good friends the cowboys from Erskine Colony, Danny who since has past, I miss our good talks we used to have my friend, Rueben now The Cow Boss, and back then Josh, Eddie and Mike rounded up the gang.

SOS Foxie does not really suit her name, she is truly a sweetheart of a cow. You know how there are some cows that go by unnoticed when ever you are working the herd, she isn’t a first through and definitely never a last through. She stays in the middle, never causing problems or fighting to get ahead of another cow, just a very pleasurable cow to have around. There is one thing that she does however stand out for and that is her production record. She has had three females and five males to date. Her first born in 2018 a heifer by FERN Olaf 16C, BOB’s Up Town Girl 67F sold in the heifer calf production sale to JAEL Cattle Co., the Jaimisons from Dalemead, AB, She had a second heifer in 2020, BOB’s Heart of Glass 56H by BOB’s Gambino 12F who sells as lot 118 and has a Elder’s Jake 194J bull calf, BOB’s Original 47M that will be displayed sale day as lot 118B. BOB’s Heart of Glass 56H sells along with her 2023 heifer BOB’s Lucille 53L by RPG Heavy Duty 33H, lot 119 in the sale. SOS Foxie 35D’s third female was a freemartin twin that was sold as a calf, leaving Foxie 35D to raise her bull calf, JDF Go North 54K that sold in the 2023 Northern Distinction bull sale to John G. Schmidt. Other bulls selling off Foxie 35D are BOB’s Get a Long 110G a SOS Top Gun 20B to Cody and Dara Hallett. Her next bull to sell was BOB’s Numen 100J who was tied for the high selling bull in the 2022 BOB Charolais, “Bring on the Bulls” sale in Stettler selling to McKreary Charolais. Just this last March, JDF Force 119L sold in the Northern Distinction Bull Sale to Warkentin Land & Cattle. SOS Foxie 35D will sell as lot 117 and her 2024 Bull calf BOB’s Machine 32M will be on display as lot 117B. SOS Foxie 35D has a very good production record, she is eight overall in the gross earnings in the entire herd.

THE WEA ANCHOR NOELLE 2N FAMILY LOTS 120-127
WEA 2N herself did not come with the group to Alberta but her family had a very strong influence in the group that did make the trip. WEA 2N has eight registered calves 5 bulls all selling to commercial herds in BC, and three daughters that were part of the group and have been great producers for us. Twin Heifers WEA 7A and WEA 8A and the youngest last calf of WEA 2N, WEA Anchor Candy 10C, lot 120. The WEA 7A cow had two Daughters one was a yearling, WEA Deborah 8D dam of lots 125 BOB’S SASSY 24H a Heavy Milking Force Daughter and lot 126 BOB’S Laura 55L sired by Go North 2114H when purchased and the other SOS 201E, along side WEA 7A when they came to Alberta. BOB’S Marsh Mellow 125E, lot 127 a daughter to the other twin heifer WEA 8A. WEA 8A was a fault free cow having just two heifer calves BOB 125E and BOB 65F selling in the Heifer Production sale in 2018 to Coyote Flats. She had 5 bull calves that four had sold through the bull sales and her last was a upside down and backwards presented calf that had to be surgically removed and thus she came in open that fall. BOB’S Marsh Mellow 125E is a hard-working ranch cow that likes to keep her distance and seems to do it on her own you might say. Her first five calves all bulls who have been sold to operations in Alberta and BC. This Year she finally had a heifer calf lot 127A by Elders Jake 194J and what a whooper she is, tied for the heaviest heifer at weaning, weighing 800 lbs. on August 25th. Major performance with this pair of females.

THE WEA ANCHOR RAINBOW 9R FAMILY LOTS 129-136
This is a cow family I know quite a bit about as I have calved out 5 generations of this family, starting with WEA Anchor Rainbow 9R a Montana Silver Daughter out of a KayR Mr. Posse 22C daughter. There are two of her daughters selling in the Dispersal Sale, lot 129, Anchor SOS Abigail 1A and lot 133, BOB’S Neon Rainbow 157E. Along with two daughters, there are two granddaughters’ lot 130 (SOS 13D), and lot 134 (BOB 5G), as well as one grandson, the herd bull lot 153 (SOS Mr. White 46K). Additionally, 3 great granddaughters, lot 120 (WEA 10C), lot 131(BOB 1G), lot 132 (BOB 42H); add to that 5 great great granddaughters, lot 135 (SOS 41H), lot 121 (BOB 200E), lot 124 (BOB 80J), lot 120A (BOB 22M), and lot 131A (BOB 85M), then add 4 great great great granddaughters, lot 122 (BOB 40K), lot 123 (BOB 46L), lot 136 (BOB 37L), and lot 135A (BOB 64M), and for the hell of it add one last great great great great granddaughter lot 122A (BOB 1M). DEEP
THOUGHT FROM BOB…
There are so many of the females in the BOB Charolais herd that have the same lineage that appears in a quarter or half and sometimes on both the top and bottom side of two or more pedigrees, you could include a large number of head in multiple cow families. The more intertwined the pedigrees of a herd are, the more uniform the cattle are and that is what I strived for and why I bred my cows the way I have over the years. It was always my goal to have a one iron herd, and it was starting to get there: of the 219 head for sale 82% have the BOB Tattoo and if you include the SOS tattooed head that percentage goes up to 93%.

SOS Detonator 8M an embryo bull out of our donor dam P-3 Lady Monte 0-80Z we purchased from the P-3 Ranch after we had great success with the purchase of the full sib to SOS Detonator 8M. P-3 Lady Perfect 1G we purchased at the P-3 Heifer Production Sale in the Spring of 1998, along with 8 other influential females, one was the grandmother of SOS Mr. Valentine 39M that sold in the same bull sale as SOS Detonator. Both Bulls were the high sellers, and both sold to Campbell Forsyth of Forsyth Bros. Charolais. Detonator was Syndicated and this included along with us Springside Farms and Forsyth Bros. Charolais, were Cederlea Charolais, and Martens Cattle Co. Semen sold across Canada and used widely as a heifer bull for over a decade. There are 577 registered Detonator offspring with the Canadian Charolais Association. Sometimes a cow’s track record speaks for itself, Iggy Azalea is a cow with that kind of track record. SOS 52B’S is seventh place in the overall herds standing for gross earnings over each cow’s lifetime. Her first bull sold to Clint Lambert at Burns Lake BC, her second bull sold to Candace and Larry Mix from Castor, AB, SOS 52B’S third bull sold to Highland Park Farms from Oyen, AB, her fourth bull sold to Elk Water Colony at Irvine, AB and her fifth bull selling to a great operation, Cross Bar Ranch from Consort, AB. Watch for her sixth bull to sell here at Anchor D on February 7th. SOS 52B’S first calf was a heifer calf BOB’S Blown Away 114D, and her first calf BOB’S Pinterest 40F sold in the 2018 Heifer Production Sale to Walstrom Farms. SOS Iggy Azalea 52B sells as lot 138 and her bull calf Anchor D Monty 52M will be displayed sale day. There are four other Detonator daughters in the herd, SOS 3C sells as lot 55, SOS 13B sells as lot 88, BOB 5G sells as lot 134, and VFF 13Y sells as lot 83, they are all Paternal sisters and would include any of their offspring, would be also part of the Detonator family tree.

In 2015 our good friends Barry and Larissa Peril, also go by Connection Cattle Co. decided they wanted to disperse their small herd and asked us, Springside Farms at the time if we were interested in purchasing the cows from them, and they offered a term deal that made it quite affordable to purchase them. One of the cows was a Connection Cattle Co. purchased female from the Forsyth Dispersal Sale, because if you know Barry at all, you know when he sees a good deal, he takes advantage of it when it presents itself. “We’re not cheap, we’re economical” his famous line, Barry really liked the Elders Stinger Bull that Campbell had as a walking herd bull and he asked Campbell that when it came time that he was done with him, would he sell him to Barry and that’s what happened and as a result the cows we purchased and the one he bought from Campbells dispersal sale, were mainly daughters of Elders Stinger. BOB’s Priyanka 58H is the last calf out of the FFBB Raja PLD 813U cow that Barry bought. Her daughter Priyanka is a HTA Defender and an attractive looking female that is on the bigger end of size scale in my herd but powerful. She was included in one of the leases as a bred heifer, she had a good bull calf that first year that sold through the sale to Brent Knickle from Sifton Manitoba, best lunch ever at the fall harvest dances. BOB 58H returned in the fall open and was held open to rebreed for January. When the prices of good recips shot up I knew if I was going to be putting in embryo’s it would be in my own purebred cows, and since I wanted them to be early calves in case they did not conceive with implanting then they had time to breed naturally and not be calving late, so I used BOB 58H as a recip since she would be open and ready to implant early. She carried a WDG Ruger 8J crossed Abbi 307A and had a heifer calf lot 6 in the sale offering. She is bred to RPG Heavy Duty 33H due to calve on January 6th, 2025.
BOB’S Hush Puppy 84H is a granddaughter of the second heifer calf purchased at the Forsyth dispersal sale along with Abbi 307A I bought FFBB Sable 393A who was a daughter of Winn Mans Kansas Bull and out of an extremely popular cow family that Campbell had, the Sable cow family. We bred Sable many different ways and all produced a very respectable calf. In 2019 we bred Sable 393A to CSS Navigator 20Y and she had BOB’s Crushing It 88E the following Spring. BOB’s 88E had four bulls and only one daughter BOB’s Hush Puppy 84H, the bulls sold through the bull sales to Ferry Bank Colony, Nate Horner Ranches, and Hal Christianson. BOB’s 84H had two males and a female BOB’s Jitterbug 10K so far. She is a very moderate thick, good, uttered cow, who is quiet and easy to handle.

Dave and Tracee sold their Charolais herd in a private sale to Kaiser Cattle Co., Barry and Leann Kaiser from Hussar, they didn’t take all the cows there were around 15-20 that they didn’t pick. Many of the cows that were left mostly were calving later and were older. Tracee asked if I would be interested in any and that she knew they were from cows they bought from us in 2010. I went and looked them over and they looked good, and they were in fact from our cows, to be exact they were the calves that we had bred, and the cows were carrying at the time of the sale of them to Vikse’s. There were three Original Time Outs (SDC TIME OUT 88T), We showed him at the Charolais National Show in Brandon MB in 2009 where he was Reserve National Champion. One was a Round Up Daughter and the fifth a Detonator Daughter who just happened to be SDC Bachelorette 44W’s very first calf, VFF Bachelorette 13Y, she looks very much like her mother, and she had a heifer calf BOB’s Lemonade 32L sired by C2 Merle Haggard 1H, she is bred to SOS Lazer 344L due on January 26th. The second Time Out 88T daughter I picked was VFF 194Y who is a HTA Crown Prince Sired female out of a Chardel Turbo daughter out of HTA Blockbuster Daughter out of a NZL Polled Raven Daughter. This lineage describes our bull battery for over a decade from the mid 1990’s until after the Millenium. Five Generations of Springside Females born and raised at Shortdale MB. We culled 194Y on Aug 6th and her Defender Heifer calf was weaned and did rather well on grass with creep until brought in August 25th on the group weaning day. She is BOB’s Madonna 62M she ranked 5th out of 37 for performance gaining 3.06 lbs. per day and sells as lot 143. She has been a fancy heifer from little with a lot of length of body and a tremendous hair coat. She would make a great home project for kids that have an interest in cattle. The third Time Out 88T cow VFF Vikse Tanis 148Y was out of a cow that we purchased in Manitoba from Bar J Charolais at Amaranth MB. The cow was BarJ Tanis 55T a powerhouse of a cow that had a tremendous utter and milked incredibly well. She was a daughter of the BarJ Rupert Bull who was a son of the CSS Showboat Bull who was sired by EC Bronson, who was also the sir of Ericksons 1st Choice the sire of HTA Crown Prince. Pedigrees that I first learned and liked from days gone by, I saw 148Y and she defined what I liked about the Charolais cow back when they were full of bone covered in muscle and meat, they had broad wide faces usually square because they were all horned. I decided I wanted to flush her and to a popular bull that was doing a good job on the offspring that were being bred and sold, a bull that was breeding consistent offspring and I chose to use Legacy’s GameDay 45G, I think this will be a really exciting cross, 148Y has not missed a year calving each year from 2013 right up to now 2024. She produced 8 females and 4 males. Calving in January and February 10/12 times and twice in March, the 10th & 12th, which I believe had more to do with Tracee backing up her calving for the first couple years after the angus dispersal. VFF Tanis had an RPG Heavy Duty Heifer calf, BOB’s Malibu Barbie 51M, ranking 2nd out of 37 replacements for performance gaining 3.08 lbs. per day and weighing 670 lbs on Aug 25th, she will sell along-side her dam as lot 141 and 141A.

BOB’S Hot Pocket 103H is a HVA Force Daughter out of Wrangler Miss Leah 77B a daughter of Pro-Char Kraken 23Z. Wrangler Miss Leah 77B was purchased from the 2016 Working Girl sale. Hot Pocket slipped her calf as a bred heifer and the intention was to hold her open and rebreed for a January calf, However we had a bull customer that wasn’t certain the bull they purchased was working and we took him back to see what was going on so he spent a portion of the winter here because of space availability he was out with the bred cows, he broke in with and bred 103H and we missed her cycle so she calved Sept 3rd having lot 145, BOB’S Call Me Blondie 203K we left her as a summer/fall calver as we had a small group of other cows calving the same time. Hot Pocket calved August 3rd, 2023, and had an Elders Jake heifer calf, BOB’s Loli 40L. They sell as lots 144 and 144A, 203K is bred to SOS Lazer 344L for a January 6th calf and 103H is safe to HTA Defender 846F for the same day, January 6th, young females with a future ahead of them.
Lot 146; WDE Ms. Bella 231G, Picked out of the Wrangler dispersal sale, I was impressed with the Silver Gun cattle at the sale so decided I would purchase one, she was a fall calver with a SKW Asteroid heifer calf, I held her open to breed for January 1, She too came into heat with the synchronized recips so she carried a Ruger 8J cross Abbi 307A, she was in pretty good shape and a bigger calf possibly but hers didn’t make it. She was bred back to HTA Defender and is due on January 8th. Lot 147; BOB’s Girl Gone Good 28E & lot 147B; BOB’s Marvelous Marv 43M, BOB 28E is a Wrangler’s Joker daughter out of Wrangler Ms. Kraken 101B the second of a pair of tan sisters purchased at the working girl sale. She has had four tan females off the start first BOB’S Fuzzy Peach 75G sold at the bull sale to KKC Charolais, the second to Rosedale Farms, the third and fourth were retained by Jaydawn as part of the lease agreement. She has a tan Elders Jake bull calf at side this year, and she sells as lot 147, carrying a Game Day 45G cross VFF Tanis 148Y embryo due on January 14th.

The Alt Kelly 6X Family, LOT 149 & 150 Lot 149; SOS Friday Night Lights 45B, nick named “Sleeping Jesus”, is the second daughter of Alt Kelly 6X. SOS 45B’s first calf, SOS 31D has produced several offspring, who were marketed to these operations. BOB’s Northern Lights 93G sold to Kelly Anderson from Hanna, AB. BOB’s Heart Breaker 39H sold in the 2021 BOB Charolais, “Bring on the Bulls” sale to Nate Horner Ranches. BOB’s Joffre 19J sold to Myron Fawcett Holdings Inc. and the twin brother BOB’S Jarvie 18J sold to Bar LU Land and Cattle. SOS 45B’s 2021 Heifer BOB’s Jello Shooter 49J sold as a second calving pair to Kelly Anderson. Uniformity in three females from the same cow family. Jello Shooter 49J’s first calf a heifer BOB’s Lily 22L by RPG Heavy Duty 33H was born towards the end of February, she didn’t settle before she went to grass without a bull and so she sells open as lot 150, she will make a nice, bred heifer calving as a three-yr old to the bull of your choice. One for you Kelly to ad to the family! In the 2018 bull sale, BOB’S Country Strong 102E sold to Chad Poyser from Roblin Manitoba. Last year “Sleeping Jesus” carried an embryo by WGD Ruger 8J cross FFBB Abbi 307A, calving on Christmas, so “Sweet Baby Jesus 18M” was born away in the manger. SOS 45B sells carrying another embryo this year and it is a Go North 2114H cross FFBB Abbi 307A due January 2nd, 2025. Sisters to SOS 45B have produced bulls who have sold to Jim Groundwater, from Endiag, AB, Terry Chilibecki, Vegerville, AB, Golden Harvest Farms, Foremost, AB, Dry Plains Ranch, Hanna, AB. SOS 45B’s also had three maternal brothers sell to Mark Fletcher, Wainright AB., Eagle Farms at Cremona, AB, and finally BOB’S Earned It! 86E, he was the high-performance bull of 2018’s bull pen gaining over 6 lbs. per day and had a sale weight of 1740 lbs. sold to Valanjou Charolais his three daughters sell as lots 7, 37, and 140.
Lot 151; Bob’s Halley’s Comet 173E Cow
BOB’s Halley’s Comet 173E is a SDC Bull Horn’s daughter out of a DCD Saturne Hisman 1G Daughter. In all honesty she was at the bottom of the heifer pen and was staying back to put some conditioning on and time past by Spring Came and when we were needling heifers to Synchronize the helpers needled her too and when the day came to AI the helpers brought her through and she caught like didn’t ya know she would. So, she stayed as a test to see if a not so desired female would produce something equal to her or what we’d see. So, ya wanna hear how this story ends? She has four bulls in a row, and not a one at the top of the bull pen, but they weren’t at the bottom neither. Selling through the bull sales they sold averaging $5150, Halley’s Comet 173E finally had a heifer her fifth calving year, I didn’t want to tempt myself, so it went in the lease calves’ group. Calving again this year she has another bull and its worth looking at him to know what I mean. Calving every year in Jan but one on the first of February and that was the year I held breeding back as not to have calves during the holidays because we wanted to go home for Christmas as it had been eight years since I got to be there at Christmas time. So, what now, well I put an embryo in her and she stuck, so she sells as a recip carrying a Game Day cross VFF Tanis 148Y due on January 14th. Andrew R, you like big cows, I am going to mark you down for this one!
SOS Lazer Pld 344L Sire of Lot 153, Service Sire of 22 bred females in the sale
Service Sire of 19 bred females in the sale
SOS LAZER 344L HERD SIRE LOT 152
Buying SOS Lazer 344L didn’t take much convincing to make the purchase of this new Herd bull. I bought him with the intention of breeding a portion of my heifer pen as I had heard good things about Bourbon and his calves ease of calving. I bred 18 of the 27 replacement heifers to SOS Bourbon 344L and 5 other females for a total of 22 females in the sale bred to this new herd sire. Selling full interest and full possession in SOS Lazer 344L
SOS MR. WHITE 46K HERD SIRE LOT 153
SOS Mr. White is a member of one of the biggest cow families for BOB Charolais The WEA Anchor Rainbow 9R Family. SOS Mr. White’s dam Anchor Iains Wriley 20W is a voluminous cow that has tonnes of eye appeal. she stands on very correct leg structure and awesome big hooved feet. She has a good utter and milks very well. I have owned and walked both of WEA 20W’s first bull Anchor Zues 13Z sire of WEA 10C a consistent producing female in the herd. SOS Mr. White 46K is the last of course and I haven’t got much for offspring so far to go on but the one bull calf BOB’s Meatloaf 31M ranked number two at weaning he has a 3.9 lbs. per day rate of gain. His sire Mr. White is in the top 1% of the breed for weaning and yearling numbers, his total maternal number of 61 puts him in the top 15% of the breed. The two females I Have off Mr. White are no slouches, very feminine angular deep bodied and thick haired. They ranked 10th and 12th out of 37 heifers for daily rate of gain. Mr. White’s Dam 20W is in the top 15% of the breed for calving ease with a score of 11.0 and B.W. EPD of -2.4. Mr. White is the service sire to 19 of the bred females selling in the dispersal. I am certain that there will be many outstanding progenies coming to the buyers of these females.
SOS Mr. White 46K is owned in partnership with Steve VanOstrom, selling full interest and full possession
ELDER’S JAKE 194J
There are thirty-six offspring that will be selling or on display sale day that are sired by Elders Jake 194J. I was swayed toward Elders Jake realistically because of how much I liked and appreciated the solid characteristics of his dam Elder’s Dalyce Rayel 80C, she had just calved a couple days before and you could see the milk dripping from her well shaped udder that was busting with milk, something I was hoping to increase because nothing improves performance more than a mother that milks hard. Dalyce Rayel stands on a huge foot and good feet as did Jake at the sale. Jake has big even well shaped testicles which is so important when raising purebreds, one must eliminate as many setbacks as possible. Jake’s calving ease score is quite good at 13.5, top 10% of the breed and is in actuality as the 19 first calf heifers all but one calved with no difficulties. I think the Jake bulls will pass the traits on of muscle on a thick meaty deep sided frame. I am most excited for those who get a Jake daughter as they will be awesome, heavy milking, herd building type females. Selling Full Interest, Full Possession, owned with Anchor D Simmentals and Charolais and Jaydawn Charolais.
Defender has been just an all-around great bull, and a true herd sire that is a pleasure to handle and that only got better as time went on and his daughters came into production. They are really good moms and calve easily on their own. The calves are covered in good hair coats almost all have been smooth polled, the daughter’s milk very well and I believe he is adding milk not taking any away. His sons have good, shaped testicles and size, they always seem to pass semen testing with high scores. There are 26 HTA Defender daughters in my BOB Charolais Herd and there are 30 females for which he is the service sire, he has registered with the CCA 202 offspring, Defender is a good breeder and a quick one, which means you can give him a fair number of females to cover at breeding. There are no regrets here with the purchase of this influential herd bull, I know he has it in him to continue to sire herd building offspring for years to come. HTA Defender 846F is owned in partnership with Spruce View Charolais (Effie Lakusta) selling full interest, full possession and he comes with 218 straws of semen.
