North of 49 55G sold in the 2020 Sun Country sale to Wernacres, Lena, IL and he has created a positive stir since arriving in the US. Not only has he been popular with those who have seen him, but his first two calf crops have been outstanding as well. The 2021 Wernacres on-line sale was a huge success and most of the sale offering were sired by North of 49. Several show champions came out of this sale. A bull who has made his mark in the Shorthorn world - HC Hollywood 6H topped the 2021 Sun Country Shorthorn sale, selling to Glenisla Shorthorns in Scotland. His Canadian walking rights remained with Horseshoe Creek Farms, where he bred well until their herd dispersal, having several sons & daughters go through the same sale. We were thrilled to add this big guy to our bull battery in 2023 and could not be more pleased with his first calf crop at LLS! Hollywood has superb feet and legs, is extremely easy fleshing, and has outstanding performance. He is backed by a tremendous mama cow, Frimley Rene Dottie 72R, who proved herself to be a top notch producer for many years. Hollywood is defect free, myostatin free, and homozygous polled. What can I say? Best bull purchase we’ve ever made. He stamps his calves with power, style & muscle. And they’re consistent. Mr. Maloney is pictured here at 4 years of age. He was sired by Highfield Irish Mist, the first Irish Shorthorn bull to be imported to Canada. His dam was IDS Margeret 34K, a red full Irish daughter of Deerpark Improver and Highfield Margeret 2. Mr Maloney 50M was born March 3, 1980 and sold privately before he was weaned to Neil Brown and John Sims in Ontario for $12,000. Two years later his dam, Margeret 34K was sold to Hoyt & Sons in the US at $15,000 and she was the top selling female in our 1983 production sale. Mr. Maloney 50M sired many outstanding progeny in the Brown and Sims herds and he was most likely the best Irish sire we ever produced. This semen is very rare and may possibly be the last remaining from this outstanding sire. He was moderate framed, very thick made and calved easily. Being full Irish he was a horned bull but we always found that most of his calves were polled when he was used on a polled female. Generations of beautiful udders behind this sire as well.

A complete set of Canadian Shorthorn Association herdbooks from 1876 to 1954 when they were discontinued. A few years in the 40s not included as they were not published during WW2. Lots of Shorthorn history is included in these books. Every breeder and every animal that was registered in each year is included. In many of the early years, the minutes of the CSA annual meetings are included. If you are interested in breed history in Canada, you will want to consider this lot.
