We would like to welcome everyone to the 32nd annual edition of our bull sale. Lat year there was comment that we need footnotes so there was more to read. Oh man it is hard enough to put something here as it is always the very last job of putting this catalog together. We use our own walking bulls, with a little bit of embryo work that will see a AI sire, so with large sire groups and cow families seems like gets a little repetitive trying to come up with comments. The cows work on their own, we calve in about 15acres and hopefully only come in the barn during the cold nights. There is just enough grain farming here so can have access to more straw and other then that everything goes through a cow. We are just trying to raise the best product we can with out a lot of commotion.
Big Kauhana is a new sire group that has really set the bar. Lots of muscle shape, middle, and dark red. It is not very often that a sire does well on both heifers and bulls but in both pens they have found their way to the top.
Kaptian is a new blazed bull that has lots of style in his calves. All the calves but one are from second calvers and he calved so easy that he was used in the heifer pen last year.
Bennington group has few more numbers this year and they are all out of first calvers. They are dark red and have been very impressed with how they developed come from heifers.
High Grade is on his last set of bulls. He made a huge mark in the milking daughters. They all our moderate easy keeping with the best udders around. Looking back probably should of collected him just to make sure there was more females around.
Top Tier is few in numbers the way breeding groups worked out but great in quality. His first daughters are calving now and a lot like his bulls are, easy fleshing and have a very noticeable presence.
Jock is a home raised bull that comes from a picture perfect black Riddler cow. He had many friends before the sale but right before sale day he got pink eye and it didnt clear up in time so we decided to pull him from the sale and use in our own program. his calves are moderate with lots of middle.
Yuma is the sire of most of the blacks and really impressed on how even of a group this is. He isn’t registered yet so never got any DNA testing done yet. He will be Homo polled and should be Homo black as I used him with some red cows and everything came black.
Rip is the large Red Angus sire group and very pleased. A nice combo of calving ease and performance. Lots of shape with some big tops.
Rock is the new heifer bull sire, only one this year but he is no slouch. Out of the calves born last they came very easy but was a lot of heifers and most are in the keeper pen.
So kinda brief run down. If have any questions or want to come before the sale please don`t be afraid to reach out.
Thanks for taking the time to look at this years offering.

Let’s go ranching in the real world! Bulls made from Bulls that are exclusively owned by Janzen Ranches is the theme here and always is! No smoke, no mirrors, no fluff, it’s as real as it gets here. As is the norm, but better each and every year, are a set of sound, responsibly grown out, great haired group of bulls proudly created in Southern Alberta! So let’s talk about this herd bull battery:
Bennington, the Beechinor bred herdsire, can claim an absolutely outstanding son in lot 1! Bennington doesn’t have the largest sire group, but this is somewhat due to a “heifer calf” year and he was the “collateral damage”. However, you will appreciate their soft made style, performance, deep-dark red color and heavy hair-coats! Even with the proven performance of his sons, Bennington, actually has a pedigree that reads with a calving ease theme.
Kaptain came via the excellent McRuer Simmentals program in Manitoba. This son of the very prolific bull, Tycoon, bred the second calvers on his first tour of duty and they came so easy, the Janzens had the confidence to turn him out with a group of bred heifers, exclusively, for the second year. You will also find some bonus chrome packages within , from this blaze-faced hunk!
The Big Kahuna sons, are similar to the Benningtons, are heavy, dark red and good haired. I’m confident you’ll have these on your shopping list too!
High Grade, hailing from the Circle G program, also brings an extra shot of calving ease to the table. As we’ve seen in the past few years, they also, carry a nice muscle pattern, who hit the ball right down the middle! Anybody can use these bulls!
The home-grown Cold Case bull, could probably receive the same biography as the above High Grade! Plus, that same dark-red color.
The black bulls, all but one, are sired by Yuma. I believe this is the most consistent group of blacks ever offered.
Now on our Red Angus side, and last, but certainly not least, the sons of the Lone Stone bred RIP, take the stage. They exhibit the wide tops and big hips of their sire, not always found in Red Angus cattle.
