Welcome to the Generation M bull sale. Thanks for taking the time to check out our catalogue and consider our program in your herd bull search. With the record high markets, this years bull crop has the potential to generate the biggest ROI most of us have ever seen. It is about time we got paid. While the prices for feeders is great to see, the replacement females may outsell the steers in the coming herd expansion. Every bull in this offering is designed to sire superior females, which is probably why I end up writing about cows when I try to write footnotes for bulls. Cowherd and bulls are available for tours any day up to sale time. All sale bulls wintered together and were hand fed responsibly on long hay, brown oats and a mineral pack. Wintered in a large field these bulls are athletic, free moving and ready for work. They have never seen creep feed or silage. Welcome to our generation M bull sale. As I am writing this we are in the middle of calving and bull sale preparations have begun. Seems like we just finished last year’s catalog and we are back preparing this year’s. Well you know what they say “time flies when you are having fun”. How could the cattle industry not be fun these days, it is great to see.
This year’s bulls are a strong set that are very consistent top to bottom. They have been fed to last and are ready to go to work. The bulls are fed free choice hay as well as hand fed brown oats and a mineral supplement pellet. We believe this grows them to their potential without hindering their longevity.

I purchased 19G aka Leon from Leon Roy at Moose Jaw to use on heifers. he has done an excellent job in that field as well as on cows in the last two years. with the 4W cow at JJL as maternal Grand Dam and his Dam 38Y, who is as good a cow as you will find, we expected some performance as well. He delivers that in spades. He is a breeding machine, routinely settling over 85% on the first cycle. He is a complete bull and a breeding piece.
“Haggard” 51K or Haggard as he is known around here was my pick of a powerful set of Mama Tried sons in Russ Cowards 2023 sale. His first set of calves have exceeded my high expectations. Powerful performance, true angus type and more calving ease than expected in his calves. Good black feet and the ability to travel and hit his mark has bred true.
“Slewfoot” 20J is an E.T. bull that was made to get back to the genetics that made Angus cattle industry leaders long before the advent of EPD’s and genomic testing. Mission accomplished! His EPD’s are godawful, but he provides good feet and udders, attractive phenotype, good growth traits along with unparalleled calving ease, vigor at birth and libido. 12M is as deep and soggy as you can find them. A grandson of the old Geis Lois 147 cow that we flushed to get the Slewfoot bull who sired many standouts, some that are in this catalogue. It is not often you can find this kind of growth without a lot more birth weight.

This bull is deep and thick. No surprise there as 71C stamps her calves and this guy fits her mold. With sons that went to Gerald Gropp, Mark Carlson, Martin Ranch as well as a daughter working at Golden Sunset and 3 retained in herd. 71C is a member of the Fortune cow family and production and longevity are their forte. 36X just left this fall at the age of 14. This Scoof son is a great example of the kind of bull we aim to raise. He sets the bar as high as any in the offering. Retaining 1/3 semen interest.

This bull is made right and sure to be found on sale day. 3A is the kind to build a herd around. If they all were as good as her it would make ranching easy. After raising 7 bull calves in a row followed by 2 heifer calves, both retained in herd, the decision was made to flush her. After being flushed she returned home and bred 21 days after to calve with 67M.

11M is bred very similar to the leadoff bull 15M. His dam 8J is a Leon daughter/Scoof granddaughter who is near the top of our generation J cows. Last fall we sold a ¾ sister to these Haggard sons in the Masterpiece sale where she was high selling red heifer calf to Cockburn Red Angus. Look to lot 11M to sire females that are the kind that sell and the kind to keep.

CALVING EASE
A big time heifer bull prospect that can walk with the heavyweights. Out of a first calver that weaned him at nearly 800lbs and calved right up front in the first cycle this spring. Maternal excellence, calving ease and growth in one dark red, eye appealing package.
E.T. sons of the Slowburn bull from Leeuwenburgh’s and 3A who along with her mother 29X are likely the 2 most influential cows here in the last 30 years. Expect many more E.T. sons of both cows in next springs catalogue. 97M is for sure in the running for the thickest bull in the offering.
This Leon son has caught everyone’s eye from the time he was a month old. He is stout made and has a look about him.

Of all the traits that we track in our industry, calving ease is one of the most sought after and researched. Regarding birth weight, while I feel it is important, I believe shape is even more crucial for calving ease. A calf that scales larger, with length and front-end extension, will be delivered easier than a stubby, thick SOB with his head mounted right on his square shoulders that weighs in much lighter. The picture attached is for demonstration purposes only. Both bottles hold the same ounces, but which one would be easier to push into the world?

It is not often that you get a chance to replicate proven genetics. When the decision was made to flush 29X the choice was clear. Red Moose Creek Rally 36T was chosen. If you have been around Boyds program for a while you know the Rally bulls for being great cow bulls. These 2 flush brothers are full siblings to the 3A cow.

TERMS - The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable at par at Swift Current, SK. The right of property shall not pass until settlement is made. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any cattle will be released.
BIDS - Every animal entering the sale ring will be sold to the highest bidder A floor price will apply to each animal consigned.
DISPUTES - In case of disputes, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision in such matters will be final.
PURCHASER’S RISK - Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold.
ANNOUNCEMENTS - Errors discovered in the catalogue will be corrected by announcements from the Auction Stand at sale time and such corrections will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue.
CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY - A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after settlement is made.
BREEDER’S GUARANTEE - Line’s Red Angus and Clear Red Angus have done everything possible to assure you, the buyer, that every bull in this sale will be a breeder. A certified veterinarian will have semen tested and physically evaluated every bull. In the unlikely event of a dispute, regular terms & conditions standard with the Canadian Angus Association shall apply.
ACCIDENTS - Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the sales manager, auctioneer nor any owner assumes any responsibility in this matter and disclaims any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of accident or loss of property.
