IN HERD USE SEMEN

Rack Red Angus reserves the right to retain 100 straws of in herd semen on any bull in the sale at buyers convience and our expense.

We would like to welcome you to our 2025 Bulls With More Burger Than Bun Bull Sale.

It is a funny thing, have been writing notes on sale bulls since 1989 and still when I sit down each year it’s always hard to come up with just the right thing to say and this year is no difference.

I want to start this year’s write up with an introduction to our latest addition to our HERD. On December 15th, 2023 Madison Lisa Little came into our lives! She was born premature at 24 weeks and only weighed 1lb 7 oz. She was in NICU care for 4 months insuring her survival, growth and health. We are so proud to be able to see her day to day achievements and how far she has come. We are proud to be Grandparents, and Uncle Marshall thinks she is pretty neat too.

This year’s bull pen is put together with an amazing group of new sired calves. All with the move to Paynton in the spring of 2023 we were unable to spend the time to AI, so we turned out the bulls early back in Claresholm and they did a great job for us! Not only did the bulls work well, the cows moved over 650 km to Saskatchewan all while adjusting to new pasture and environment. We are overwhelmed how they transitioned and stayed in calf proving the herd’s condition and herd health stayed the test of time.

We believe in culling hard and maybe harder than we should have, leaving a couple less in the pen but what a great set they have become. Our motto “Bulls With More Burger Than Bun” certainly represents this group of bulls.

This year’s bulls are being fed Bullseye Bull Ration pellets and free choice Covers and Co Silage bales. Both companies have been very productive in our program providing us with the best health and quality feed program to promote sound, functional bulls with adequate growth and longevity in focus. We have really noticed how well the bulls have done in testicle development, hoof soundness and overall health. I will say I’m proud of our offering!

This has been a record year in the beef market place. Now is the time to rebuild and improve your herds. With the pricing today it’s a great opportunity to upgrade to good quality bulls to carry you forward in your programs. With the lowest number of cattle in the market today this is the time to build your herd numbers with quality and by using Red Angus you can achieve a great maternal cow.

Once again our sale will be on DLMS Farmgate Auction. Details how to participate are shown below. The bulls are available to be viewed anytime from now to sale day. Sale day we will have an open house from 11:00 – 5:00pm. Come join us for Beef on the bun and refreshments will be on all day. Our success is measured on your success with our bulls going out to work for you. Come join us sale day March 7th 2025 at the ranch in Paynton Saskatchewan. If you have any question in our offering please don’t hesitate to call or visit.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE ON DLMS FARMGATE

1. Visit www.farmgatetimedauctions.ca, click the LOGIN/REGISTRATION button. First time users will select the REGISTER button from this page. Fill out the registration form to signup for a free user account and it allows you to select a username and password for use on all Farm Gate Timed auctions. This program will send you text and email messages whenever there is activity on your favorite lots or someone challenges your proxy bid and this is why you will be asked for both your current email and cell phone number. If you are a past participant in the Farm Gate Timed auctions simply enter your user name and password to continue. This takes you to a list of both current and upcoming Farm Gate Auctions.

2. You can choose your favourite lots in this sale at this time and the program will allow you to open either all sale lots or just your favorite lots on your screen. Any time there is active bidding on a lot you have identified on your favorite list you will get a text and/or an email noting this activity.

3. The program allows you to place a proxy bid on any sale lot. This in fact protects your interest in any lot of interest for you to a specified dollar value you set, when you may not be able to give 100% attention to the sale. If the lot has a $2000 bid on it and you place a proxy bid of $3500 into the system, the computer will bid $2100 for you but if some one else bids $2200, the computer will again bid for you, this time at $2300. The system will look after your interest to a maximum of $3500. If another bidder is on at $3600, your proxy will no longer be effective and you will no longer have the winning bid on this lot without once again logging in and bidding again or moving your attention to a second lot of interest.

4. At closing time of the sale the entire sale will extend bidding for 5 minute if a bid is placed on any lot in the sale. Any bid received after 6 PM will extend the sale by 5 minutes from the time of that bid. When no bidding occurs for 5 min the computer will declare the sale finished.

5. Within 24 hours of the sale close the OBI and DLMS will contact all winning bidders to arrange payment, transfer of pedigrees and delivery/Pick up of your lot.

If you require assistance with using the new DLMS Farm Gate web site, if you don’t understand how to create a favorites list, if you can’t figure out the proxy bid or you just plain want to bid via phone, please talk to any of the DLMS team or Sale Consignors.

WHAT IS RACEHORSE STYLE SALE CLOSE? Racehorse style sale close is when the entire sale stays open in extended bidding. This type of sale allows you as the bidder to change to a different lot within the same sale if the bidding has gone in to extended bidding.

HOW WILL EXTENDED BIDDING WORK? When we get to the close out end time the clock for close extends with any bid placed with less than 5 min on the clock. This type of extended bidding turns the end time to more of a soft time. Extended bidding allows bidders to compete in lots like a real auction and give all bidders the same time to make a decision. Always follow the clock to see how much time remains in the sale you are interested in.

Jouney 60J was purchased from Mar Mac Red Angus in 2022. A sight unseen purchase that proved to be an asset in our program. Journey 60J was the high selling bull that day at $14,500. Journey is a Ripzone sired bull that has a ton of eye appeal, adding performance but not sacrificing calving ease. He adds testicles and that sought after deep cherry red color. We love the job he has done here at Rack and can’t wait to see his daughters mature in the cow herd. The Journey bull calves on offer have grown to the top end of the pen pushing the scales down for weight and ADG. Just think what your calves will do for you a year from now. They will be the money making kind and your replacements will be pretty shiny as well.

Sire to LOTS 5M, 25M,32M, 35M, 40M, 47M, 57M, 62M, 75M

60J - January 28, 2021 -

Red Rack Resolution 452K

Resolution 452K was used on a group of our cows in the spring of 2023. The sire of 452K was Red BCC Brylor OTM Resolution. We purchased in the Brandl Bull Sale in of 2021 based on the history of both the cow and sire families as well as the overall performance and correctness in him. 452K also has an outstanding Dam Red Rack Larkaba 10H. She is a moderate made cow with very correct style. She raises the right kind of calves for us. Resolution 452K has a bigger birth weight of 90lbs but as all the Resolution calves he has the length and smoothness that doesn’t sacrifice calving ease. All this while he carries the muscle and depth of this sire.

We purchased Rock 318G from Hawkeye Ranching (Leif Brost) in his Annual Bull Sale of 2021. Rock 318G was our walking bull in our cow herd. As you will notice his calves, he throws deep sided soggy calves that are correct in their makeup and feature great feet! Clearly you can see the growth he stamps on is progeny. Rock has a very stacked pedigree with some of the Red Angus breeds most influential cow and sire families.

D: RED FRASER QUEEN 641D

We held Rocky 455K to use in our heifer pen and a small group of cows before we moved to Saskatchewan. Being very satisfied with the performance and calving ease of his sire Red HE 983D Rock 318G he was an easy fit to our program. Rocky has a ton of dark red hair. He is smooth topped and has great length of body with good next extension. A great sleep easy calving bull. He stands on a very correct dark foot. His Dam Red Fraser Queen 641D is a correct made cow that exhibits a very good udder and correct feet.

Sire of LOT 14M

Red Rack Blue Chip 1M

Blue Chip 1M was the first calf born in 2024 at only 68lbs. We purchased his Dam Red Patchell Hey Hey out of the Ontario’s Finest Red Angus Sale from Patchell Livestock. Hey Hey is an easy doing cow that is soft made and correct in her make up. Blue Chip 1M sire Red Bieber Blue Chip H302 is noted for being in the top of the breed for calving ease traits, marbling and REA. Blue Chip 1M exhibits his sires length of body depth of rib and strong feet. He will be an excellent choice for the heifer pen where calving ease and vigor is required.

Red Rack Journey 5M

Here is the bull that defines our motto! “BULLS WITH MORE BURGER THAN BUN” Journey 5M is a bull that has it all, dark red, guts, nuts and a big square butt. Match that up with great length, strong legs and feet and a ton of hair. Mar Mac DM Journey 60J has done a great job here and we will be following Journey 5M closely! Journey 5M is easy going, just like his model Dam Shiloh Guilty Pleasure 48G. She is a front pasture cow with a great udder and solid feet. Pleasure 48G was shown as a heifer calf in 2019 and did very well for Blake and Darcy. Will and Kelsey purchased Pleasure 48G at the 2020 Red Round Up Sale as a bred heifer. Pleasure 48G is one of or top cows in our breeding program. Pleasure has raised one other bull selling to Granum Colony. Check out the performance of Journey 5M as he had weaned at 800lbs and January weight of 1375lbs with a daily gain of 3.83/lb/day. I would not hesitate to use 5M on large heifers and would be outstanding in a set of cows you will keep his daughters and top the scales on steers in the fall. This all means return on investment! LARGER HEIFERS OR COW BULL

Red Rack Rock 13M

Rock 13M is cherry red with all the attributes to become a great herd sire! Rock 13M stands on great feet and displays good length and thickness. He has a very tidy head and smooth front end. One of the best things about Rock is his Dam BCC Mable 14F, she is a model cow that we are very proud to display here at Rack. His sire 983D Rock 318G was a tremendous bull for us that we purchased from Hawkeye Ranching in 2021. He had a great foot with ample bone and muscle thickness throughout. You could have set a three course meal on his topline! Unfortunately ROCK 318G injured himself part way through the 2023 breeding season. Feel confident using Rock 13M with larger heifers and cows! LARGER HEIFER OR COW BULL

Red Rack Rock 14M

Rock 14M is not the biggest bull in the pen, but has a lot to offer. He is developing into a soggy made heifer bull. He has a tidy head with great neck extension and loads of muscle and shape. He is backed up with a great pedigree going back to Resolution, HE Rock 318G, Rough Rider and Cockburn Assassin all being very impacting sires of the Red Angus industry. Rock 14M will work on heifers and sire very nice replacements.

Rack Rock 17M

Another Rock sired bull that will be great on a set of heifers. Rock 17M has a great dam that comes from ACE Bigshot and the prestigious Fine Line Mulberry. Rock 17M has a very quiet disposition and is developing nicely.

Red Rack Rock 18M

If you like them hairy, square, smooth shouldered, tidy headed, strong footed your going to like Rock 18M. Another well stamped son of HE Rock 318G and backed by the Fraser Bonny 506C cow. Bonny 506C is a dark featured hard working cow that gets it done every year. She has raised bulls that has sold to Mack Ranching and to Darcy Douglas. Rock 18M will work well for your heifer pen.

Red Rack Rock 21M

Rock 21M is a bull to be used on cows. He has a birth weight of 87lbs and a little thicker made than his pen mates. Dam LMP 2C is a larger framed cow with a lot of stretch. You will notice from his picture he has large testicles as this guy is ready to go to work for you. Dam 2C has raised previous sale feature bulls to High River Colony and Granum Colony who only buy the good ones. COW BULL

Red Rack Rock 24M

Rock 24M is a bull for cows. He has heavier bone but is still smooth made. Rock 21M is very dark in his appearance and dark hoofed. Dam 12C is a large cow and heavy muscled with a ton of length. The dam has raised bulls selling to D & P Fraser Farms, Len Carlson and Vicky and Dave Dutton from Paynton. COW BULL

We purchased Journey 25M’s dam from Nick and Lorraine VanGaalen of Fine Line Red Angus and glad to have this great cow. Tamilla 12B raises thick made calves that just plain work and if they are heifers, you want to keep them all. Journey 25M carries both the sire and Dam attributes and stands out in the bull pen. He is a calf with style and muscle through out. You will want to definitely keep his daughters for replacements and his sons will make you money in the fall.

Herd Sire Alert!! Rock 31M has a stacked pedigree. This guy is supported by both sire and cow families that top the Red Angus breed. With a 78lb birth wt Rock 31M will work well in the heifer pen. He stands well on correct feet and travels well on strong legs. He has some athletic traits that will get him out on the pasture to cover your breeding. He has a very strong top, smooth shoulders and tidy head with more than enough Gut and Butt. Very good bull that will give you great replacements.

HEIFER BULL

Red Rack Rock 27M

An EPD to notice on all these Rock bulls is the milk EPD#. Milk is one thing if you’re looking to add to your program check all the Rock bulls out. Rock 27M came off grass weaning at 790lbs and has a Jan 30th wt of 1270lbs. Rock 27M has lots of stretch and a clean top that combines with great feet and structure. He is very smooth made and we feel confident he will work with larger made heifer’s and cows.

LARGER HEIFER OR COW BULL

Journey 32M will work well with larger heifers and cows. 32M is a bull with good stretch, good clean shoulders and tidy head. He has ample junk to make him a good breeder. He moves well on correct feet. Journey 32M is another bull that we really like.

LARGER HEIFER OR COW BULL

Rack Journey 35M

Journey 35M has been doing great in the bull pen. He weaned at 720lbs and Jan 30th wt of 1275 and has an average daily gain at 4.06lbs. Journey 35M is solid built, wide and exhibits extensive rib and barrel shape. Dam LMP 21E has had two previous bulls sell to Jennifer Barr and to Parkland Colony. Dam LMP Kuruba 21E is a big broody cow with lots of longevity. This guy will work well on larger heifers and would do a great job on some younger cows.

LARGER HEIFER OR COW BULL

Red Rack Journey 40M

Journey 40M is another calf who has great parentage. Dam cola 90D has given us mainly females but her recent effort was a bull that sold to Greenwood Red Angus of South Dakota. She is a slightly bigger framed cow providing extra length in her calves. Journey 40M is thick made with tons of cherry red hair. He has a little shorter neck and thicker in the shoulders, with lots of length so should be used on cows.

S:

Resolution 41M has his Daddy’s deep red color. Dam Kenray Miss 3D is a solid made cow with a great foot and correct udder. Sons from her have sold to Count Ridge Stock Farm and Lorne Depaoli. Resolution 41M is best suited for the cow programs. His females should be a great addition.

BULL

Don’t overlook this heifer bull prospect! He will grab your attention sale day from all views. This pedigree has a lot to offer. Resolution 45M is stout especially when your behind him. Yet he is smooth in the shoulder and has that outstanding skull shape and ample neck extension. He has done well on test at 3.82 lbs / day. His dam Fine Line MS Sammy 30E is a great easy doing cow that just pumps a good calf out every year. Sammy 30E has raised bulls going to Garth Wesley and John Moens all repeat buyers. Resolution 45M will work in your cows or heifer pen. Very excited to see how this guy matures.

HEIFER OR COW BULL

Red Rack Resolution 46M

Resolution 46M possesses that rugged herd bull look. He is thick made from front to back and has that extra rib of length. He stand square and proud. He was strong on test with a 3.72lb/day gain. Red Rack Journey 47M

This young stud stands tall and proud on a great set of black feet. He has a very smooth top and has lots of guts and wide butt. The Dam of Journey 57M Fraser Queen 641D is a smaller made cow but correct in her makeup and seems to always have the good calves. Queen 641D is also the Dam of Rocky 445K who is the sire of lots 14M and 17M this year. We are happy with the job he has done there. Sire Mar Mac DM Journey 60J has really put his stamp on this guy adding muscle and shape where needed. We are very high on ths bull and feel he will be a great asset to any herd. LARGER HEIFER OR COW BULL

Red Rack Journey 75M

Mar Mac DM Journey 60J has done a fantastic job here with Journey 75M who is the youngest bull in the pen being only a year on sale day. Don’t discount this guy because of age. January 30th weight of 1160lbs and 3.69lbs daily gain showing he has what it takes. He has his sires look and is clean made with tons of appeal. Dam Rack Karma 13H has raised two previous bulls selling to don Hamski and Ben Schneider. Journey 75M is suited best for cows. COW BULL
