HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN THE DLMS FARM GATE TIMED AUCTION WITH EXTENDED BIDDING:

1. Visit www.farmgatetimedauctions.ca, click the LOGIN/ REGISTRATION button. First time users will select the REGISTER button from this page. Fill out the registration form to signup for a free user account and it allows you to select a username and password for use on all Farm Gate Timed auctions. This program will send you text and email messages whenever there is activity on your favorite lots or someone challenges your proxy bid and this is why you will be asked for both your current email and cell phone number. If you are a past participant in the Farm Gate Timed auctions simply enter your user name and password to continue. This takes you to a list of both current and upcoming Farm Gate Auctions.

2. You can choose your favourite lots in this sale at this time and the program will allow you to open either all sale lots or just your favorite lots on your screen. Any time there is active bidding on a lot you have identified on your favorite list you will get a text and/or an email noting this activity.

3. The program allows you to place a proxy bid on any sale lot. This in fact protects your interest in any lot of interest for you to a specified dollar value you set, when you may not be able to give 100% attention to the sale. If the lot has a $2000 bid on it and you place a proxy bid of $3500 into the system, the computer will bid $2100 for you but if some one else bids $2200, the computer will again bid for you, this time at $2300. The system will look after your interest to a maximum of $3500. If another bidder is on at $3600, your proxy will no longer be effective and you will no longer have the winning bid on this lot without once again logging in and bidding again or moving your attention to a second lot of interest.

4. At closing time of the sale the entire sale will extend bidding for 5 minute if a bid is placed on any lot in the sale. Any bid received after 6 PM will extend the sale by 5 minutes from the time of that bid. When no bidding occurs for 5 min the computer will declare the sale finished.

5. Within 24 hours of the sale close the Sale Manager, will contact all winning bidders to arrange payment, transfer of pedigrees and delivery/Pick up of your lot.

If you require assistance with using the new DLMS Farm Gate web site, if you don’t understand how to create a favorites list, if you can’t figure out the proxy bid or you just plain want to bid via phone, please talk to any of the DLMS team or Sale Consignors.

WHAT IS RACEHORSE STYLE SALE CLOSE? Racehorse style sale close is when the entire sale stays open in extended bidding. This type of sale allows you as the bidder to change to a different lot within the same sale if the bidding has gone in to extended bidding.

HOW WILL EXTENDED BIDDING WORK? When we get to the close out end time the clock for close extends with any bid placed with less than 5 min on the clock. This type of extended bidding turns the end time to more of a soft time. Extended bidding allows bidders to compete in lots like a real auction and give all bidders the same time to make a decision. Always follow the clock to see how much time remains in the sale you are interested in.

VDV Montana 61M is the type of bull we are proud to have raised here at Van de Velde Cattle, he’s dark red, covered in hair, extra frame and has a long spine with extra rib. Montanas dam is a hard working WS High Stakes daughter who has a couple daughters working in the herd. His sire, ZSL Kershaw 27J was a tremendous breeder with lots of hair and lots of natural length, his calves come easy and take off growing. This combination has really clicked.

VDV Milo 19M is another great ZSL Kershaw 27J son, this time in a black baldy package. Milos dam is a heavy milking R Plus 5015C daughter, she raised a high selling bull in last years sale and has done it again with this calf. Milo is a very sound bull with lots of eye appeal and also has that extra length of body to him. His daughters should make excellent replacements combining ZSL Kershaw 27J and R Plus 5015C. VDV Malcolm 11M is the first son to sell off of our junior herd sire Millington Empire 9K and we are very excited about his first set of calves. Malcolm is a heavy muscled bull with lots of natural muscle and great qaurter. HOMO POLLED NON DILUTOR

VDV Larry 77L is another Millington Empire 9K son born from a first time WS Epic daughter. Larry has a small skull and a nice neck extension making him an ideal candidate for the heifer pen. VDV Magnus 24M is a resulting embryo calf purchased from Rainbow River Simmentals. There is plenty of excitement around the $280,000 Mader Walk the Line 92J bull and after raising this calf I can see why. Magnus is a very stylish bull that moves very effortlessly across the pen. We have a full sister to Magnus in the replacement pen that has the same eye appeal and presence, making them very consistent.

VDV Mickey 4M is a very attractive, calving ease option, MRL Portfolio 31K son. We were fortunate to walk MRL Portfolio 31K for a spring breeding season and did he ever leave some high quality sons for us. His dam is a bigger framed cow that came to us in dam from Gordon Jones Simmentals. She has a good track record here and has out done herself again on this bull calf. Max was the heaviest weaning bull calf this fall and he’s been a favourite since day one.

HETERO POLLED NON DILUTOR

VDV Leopard 301L is a January born two year old polled Fullblood. Leopard was kept from the sale last year as a spare bull and ended up breeding clean up on a group of commercial cows for us in May 2024. HETERO POLLED NON DILUTOR

VDV Londyn 25L is another January born two year old who was pulled from the sale last year because of an injury. Londyn healed up 100% and bred a small group of cows for us this July in the summer breeding program and will be offered up for sale now this March. Welcome to the 4th Van De Velde and guests Online bull sale.

This year I am offering 5 2 year old bulls, 4 polled reds, and a full blood. And 5 yearlings, 3 polled reds, and 2 full bloods, 1 of which is homo polled test pending.

When selecting and deciding who is going to be a bull, I am not only looking at the bull himself, but also at his dam. Her temperament, structural soundness, and udder quality must be good.

All bulls have been vaccinated as calves, again at weaning. They will be vaccinated again when semen testing, including for footrot.

Gordon Delichte

DNA tested non diluter. Out of a smaller framed cow, that is always in good condition. With his smaller birth weight, He probably could be used on heifers. NON DILUTER

This bull has a great temperament. When one of my herd bulls came up lame at pasture turn out, I used this bull, as a clean up bull. When I pulled the bulls at the end of July, I decided that he was in decent condition, and I would show him at Ag-Ex, Brandon in the fall. Yes the ring in his nose went in early Oct. But I started to halter break to lead him, only a week before going to Brandon. He settled in and behaved very well there. He has grown more and put on more conditioning since then. NON DILUTOR

Jackie 263H - dam with 2025 calf
Boon’s Wolfwillow 31G - Reference Sire
Oakview Hurley 129H - Reference Sire
Virgina Cheevers 302F- Reference Sire
Delight Holland 463H- Reference Sire

Meat and muscle, best describes this bull. Compared to his pen mates, you notice the extra width, the depth of hind quarters, large testicle development. With his dam being sired by Cheevers, he has 1/4 full fleck genetics in him.

Welcome from Southam & Breezy Ridge

Welcome to the 2025 Van de Velde & Guests Online Bull sale. A pleasure to work alongside with Van de Velde’s and Gordon Delichte. A sincere “Thank You” to all who have purchased bulls in the past and expressed interest in our program. Your support is appreciated.

We offer for your appraisal a strong collection of homozygous polled bulls comprised of proven and progressive genetics. AI sired bulls by KWA Shamrock 151H, WLB Top Tier 456G, WS Proclamation E202 and WS Epic E152 complement the selection sired by our past and current herd bulls– Circle G Intell 47J and MCR Mr Knox 21K. The bulls have been gently developed on a 14% bull grower ration under the guidance of Terry Fehr with Trouw Nutrition. They are on a full herd health program and will have had spring vaccinations – including Fusoguard – prior to the sale. Our bulls are handled regularly and are quiet. Whether your search is for calving ease or performance, there is a bull that will meet or exceed your herd bull requirements.

We extend an invitation to view the bulls – and their dams – on farm prior to the sale. We welcome visitors and any inquires about our bulls and our program. Please feel free to reach out to the Bohrson Marketing team for an honest, unbiased assessment of our consignments.

Searching for a heifer bull? Lucky is your guy! A Shamrock 151H son, Lucky is a long spined, smooth made fella who has the sweetest disposition. From a 68lb start to an ADJ yearling weight of 1425lbs, he posts impressive performance. An awesome effort from his Gangster dam’s first attempt at motherhood! Lucky’s CE, BW and MCE indexes are in the top 2% which strongly endorse his use in your heifer pen. A young herd sire who will add value to both the maternal and performance traits of his offspring. Lucky will be an excellent investment. HOMO POLLED

Introducing Laramie … our first Mr Knox 21K bull. A powerful young herd sire we are extremely proud to offer. A standout since birth and mothered by a first calving Denali 24E dam. The Denali females continue to impress us with their maternal traits and milk production. From a 78lb birthweight to an actual yearling weight of 1400lb PLUS CE and MCE EPD’s at 1%, Laramie displays both maternal and performance strength. Genetic merit, eye appeal and that highly desired dark cherry red color, he is the complete package. Be certain to evaluate this exceptional young herd sire.

Macho Man … a name most might associate with either the Village People or wrestling. However, this Macho Man truly lives up to the name!! A Top Tier 456G sired bull that’s the first to catch everyone’s eye. Substance, style and struts with an undeniable herd bull presence. Macho Man’s dam is a most consistent producer – with females sold through the Pembina Triangle Sale to Bitz Simmentals, Flying W Livestock and Keven Kreutner. Proven, predictable and profitable genetics wrapped up in very attractive package. Don’t miss the opportunity to introduce your cows to Macho Man … he’ll add value to your herd. HOMO POLLED

A soggy made, dark red Top Tier 456G bull who has excelled at every stage of development. A fine example of what a first calving Denali 24E dam can produce. A modest 78lb birthweight to the heaviest at weaning and second heaviest at yearling intervals. Magnum possesses strong calving ease and maternal genetics on both sides of his pedigree yet packs some punch with performance. A young herd sire with a very bright future … I’ll be interested to see which astute cattle producer takes him home.

A larger framed Proclamation E202 son, Matador will add some stretch and grow to your calves. He’s been of the radar for the bull pen since birth and continues hit each milestone with success. Matador should complement an Angus or Hereford based cow herd, adding that extra frame on those highly sought packages of black and black baldy steers. When your paid by the pound, the extra size and pounds matter … a lot. A quiet fellow who will only add good value to your herd. Circle him in your catalogue.

A moderate framed, chunky WS Epic E152 sired bull. Marshall is an easy doing, easy going character who makes a point of strolling over for a scratch. His Denali dam shared her maternal traits, placing him in the top 10% for CE, BW and MCE. Marshall possesses the right combination of genetics to be a reliable, profitable bull.

HOMO POLLED

Here’s a pretty cool WS Epic E152 son – dark red and darn good. A wide topped, soggy made bull whose pedigree has the correct balance of performance and maternal strengths. Maestro should sire those highly desirable calves that weigh up, are easy to market and make you smile on payday.

HOMO POLLED

An eye appealing, dark red bull that closely resembles his sire at the same age. Malone is a structurally sound bull that carries muscle and mass on a moderate frame. With Intell 41J and Skors Red Knight 164A in his pedigree, he possesses highly valued maternal strength and merit. His steer calves should attract top dollar and his heifers finding a home in your replacement pen.

HOMO POLLED

Is a black calving ease bull on your bull shopping list? Check out Morocco. A smaller framed, finer boned Intell 47J bull with a slender skull shape and smooth shoulder … all physical indicators of calving ease. Morocco’s modest 72lb birthweight and CE, BW and MCE indexes concretely support his usage in the heifer pen. A young bull with a promising future.

HOMO POLLED NON DILUTOR

A mid-February Intell 47J bull who has never missed a beat, Marv has kept pace with his older pen mates. A bull that carries his mass nicely balanced on a larger frame. His Red Rambo dam is a most consistent producer of highquality progeny. Bred heifers have been purchased by S & S Simmentals and AP Simmentals and a bull sold to Ian Wytinck. Marv will be a solid investment to the successful purchaser.

Gailyn 344G strikes again!!! Claire’s purchase of this female at the WLB dispersal was a most wise … and profitable … investment. This is her third bull calf – and all have been bull sale quality. With an 80lb birthweight and CE, BW and MCE EPD’s in the top 3%, Maverick would be a candidate for the heifer pen. His sire – Intell 47J – produces beautiful females. Maverick’s strong maternal merits are a bonus if you’re keeping replacement heifers. Give this guy a second look. Maternal brothers have been purchased by Melvin Dunn –MJD Farms Inc. and Josh Grift.

Is Maxx the youngest and smallest bull in the pen? Yep. With those obvious facts addressed, critically evaluate this young fellow. A late February, blazed face Mr Knox 21K bull who had that “something special” about him at birth. Mothered by a first calving Gangster dam, Maxx posts a 74lb birthweight and a respectable set of EPD’s. Apply a lens that adds the extra 2 months his penmates have on him … he’ll be comparable with them. If your breeding season is later, this bull warrants serious consideration. Maxx just might be the sleeper of the sale … don’t miss this opportunity.
