Welcome from Wheeler’s

Welcome to our 22 nd Annual Bull Sale! It’s hard to believe how quickly the time has passed. Sale time is always a time that we reflect on the past and look forward to the future. We all know that raising cattle has its challenges, so there is no room for your cattle’s genetics to create you more problems. Our responsibility as seed stock producers is to produce genetics that will move your herd forward while eliminating problems. It really is quite simple if we stay focused on our goals and tune out all the noise. Our focus remains to produce cattle with maternal power. Fertile, good uddered, easy keeping females that have longevity, with as much growth and performance packed in as our feed resources will support. We take immense pride in the progress we’ve made in enhancing the quality of our genetics since establishing our purebred herd 27 years ago. Developing a consistent cow herd in terms of type, soundness, udder quality, and production is a lifelong endeavor. As a family-run operation, everyone plays a vital role in our day-to-day activities, and our entire income is derived from our cattle. We have always prioritized quality, so we don’t tolerate mediocre or problematic animals—culling is an integral part of our process.

It really is quite simple if we stay focused on our goals and tune out all the noise

One constant throughout our journey has been our commitment to producing cattle that meet the needs of commercial cattlemen. Our roots lie in commercial cattle, and our breeding goals have remained aligned with the objectives we established as cow/calf producers. In recent years, we’ve incorporated a variety of outcross genetics—not to create something trendy for the purebred market, but to improve the quality of cattle for our commercial customers, which we believe is essential.

The quality in our yearling offering of red and black bulls is stronger than ever, with options to suit various preferences and budgets. While our two-year-old offering is smaller this year due to drought conditions, the quality remains exceptionally high. They are all virgin bulls that were retained as replacements in case there were any issues with bulls we sold last year. We could have sold them several times over, but being able to service our customers is of upmost importance to us. We always do our best to be able to provide a replacment bull if necessary. It doesn’t happen very often, but we stand behind what we sell 100%.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions about our offering. We have a highly professional and capable group of sale staff who can confidently represent our program.

We added Good Time Charlie to be our next female making sire. He has a herd bull prescence, style and structual correctness we have not seen in a Red Angus bull in a long time. Find his video on our website and you will see what we mean. He is a big ribbed, and bold sprung bull with added bone. Charlie’s dam is one of the most productive females in the SSS herd and we expect that production level will be passed on to his daughters.

HD is a son of popular Red Box that offerms more calving ease and overall eye appeal than his sire. We utilized HD in our embryo transplant program, and his sons are sure to be sale features.

Convoy is the result of an embryo we sold to Bar Double MM and after seeing him we decided to buy him back to use in our own program. Never before have we bred a bull that we feel represents what we have been trying to achieve over the past 25 years in our breeding program. Knowing how his pedigree is stacked gives us great confidense in how he will reproduce his type and kind. You will not find an Angus bull that packs more natural muscle on to a sensible frame size. He stands on a solid foot, has lots of hair, and we admire his skull shape and masculinity. His dam Annie Oakley has not missed and is one of the most unique cows in the entire breed.

| Dam - Red Wheel Annie Oakley 8B

Complete 221 was our selection from the record breaking 2023 Pieper Red Angus bull sale. Complete is a good footed, long made, sure fire calving ease bull with extra style and size. His sire Complete 7000E has proven to be of the most consistent calving ease and maternal sires in the United States with added carcass quality. The influence of PIE Stockman on his maternal side blends in more calving ease and great udder quality. Complete 221 is one of the most balanced sires available on the Canadian market with a unique twist to his pedigree.

All summer Heavy Duty was a man amongst boys. He has continued to develop into an impressive herdsire prospect. He stands on a well shaped foot, and offers added size, growth, and upheaded presence. His dam, is the most recognized Angus cow in North America, the $525,000 Bar-E-L Erica 74A. Her story continues to grow and grow, with more success stories every day. Duff HD is also creating his own buzz across North America. We plan to utilize Heavy Duty in our own program to make performance sons and females of the highest quality. Heterozygous Black.

Lot 1 & 2 Dam - Bar-E-L erica 74a

Black Wheel HIGH DEF 52M

High Def closely resembles his sire Duff HD. He is moderate framed, deep sided and has a captivating precence. We feel he has calving ease potential, just like his sire. When you study his strutural build and skull shape we think you will really like what you see. Imagine the daughters he will produce. Erica 74A is recognised for the outstanding udder quality she transmits to her progeny. High Def will be a valuable breeding tool. Heterozygous Black.

4

BLACK WHEEL NATIONAL 9M

Brooking National was added to our AI program to infuse the maternal power of Renovation, and Rose 1019, who we feel is one of the best cows in the breed. Watch for more descendants of Rose 1019 from us in the future. The Pride cow family has been working well for us for over 20 years. Homozygous Black.

5

BLACK WHEEL NATIONAL 86M

We really like the balance of maternal and performance traits in the Brooking National cattle. Bank Note is the most influenctial black sire we have used in our program. Becky 86E comes from a long line of productive cows with longevity. A daughter of Becky 86E sold in the Rose Bowl sale to Sandridge in Oklahoma and is a donor cow for them. Homozygous Black.

BLACK WHEEL METRIC 1M

The Jestress 1Y cow has made a big impact on our program. She produced herd sires and foundation females. Jestress 99G has always raised a top calf. Metric 1M is one of the largest framed bulls in our offering. Heterozygous Black.

A pounds heavy bull raised by a moderate, deep sided cow. Anne 127E is a maternal sister to our famous donor Annie Oakley 8B. We really like our Good Time Charlie daughters we are calving now. Heterozygous Black.

The longest bodied bull in the pen which adds extra pounds. He was the highest indexing bull at weaning and yearling weigh time amongst all the natural calves. He gets that extra length from his dam, Avocet 79E, who is a daughter of the premier female maker Lewis 3008B. Heterozygous Black.

BLACK WHEEL EXECUTIVE

Executive 8J and Creed 214C are two sires we used to add bone, length, and muscle. One of the highest weaning weights in the sale. Auburn 100F and 11C add power to their progency without increasing mature frame size. Heterozygous Black.

RED LWNBRG SLOWBURN 102H

RAINBOW METRIC 106K

RAINBOW DOLL 46B

If you want a bull to improve feet, take a look here. Metric was introduced for his foot quality, and so was Unanimous 113B. Bridget 16D is one of our best footed cows, and her dam, Bridget 101Y raised the high selling bull in our sale two years in a row.

RED WHEEL FOUNDATION 17M

RED WHEEL IMPERIAL 33M

Foundation 17M is another favourite. He packs a lot of muscle and fleshing ability on a correct strucutre, and a really solid foot. Pair that with his moderate birth weight and you have a very unique breeding tool. We plan to collect Foundation to AI with him in our own herd. A full brother to his dam sold to MC Quantock and has done a great job.

Metric added some stretch to his progeny at our place. Imperial 33M’s dam is a powerhouse, and is one of the tankiest cows in our herd. She entered our donor program this year. She has raised some great daughters in our herd.

A dark red Convoy son with some extra power to inject into your calves. Auburn 11C throws some power, but will not increase mature size if that is your goal.

The Convoy sons are a bit younger in our pen than the average but they weigh up with the rest. We plan to use Convoy heavily in our program going forward to continue on the success we had with our Stark sire. We love our Hard Eight daughters for their udder quality, and Lady 415D is one of our newest donor females.

CONVOY

This Convoy son has always had the same muscle pattern as his sire. His dam is our best daughter of the renown Meg 169Z female. Meg 40G is a tanky, good uddered cow. His replacement heifers should be special.

RED WHEEL DROGON

RED WHEEL SHAGGY 124M

Rage is a new sire to Canada, but with progeny like this he will be used alot more. Shaggy 124M is a powerful, soggy beast, and one of the youngest in the sale. Annie Oakley 57J is a new donor for us and Blairs.Ag. She looks to be following in her dam’s prolific foot steps. We would like to retain a semen interest.

RED WHEEL SHAGGY 114M

27

RED WHEEL HARD KNOX 27M

RED WHEEL CHARLIE 51M

Hard Knox sons have been popular the last couples sales because they are super dark red and good looking. They also are square made, and his daughters are heavy milking producers.

RED WHEEL CHARLIE 53M

A 3/4 brother to lot 28 that offers the same kind of power and added growth. Imagine the calf crop if you turned these two bulls out together! The steers and heifers would ring the bell. Countess 61G produced the feature red bred heifer in our female sale. Cow power deluxe.

One of our favourite power bulls from one of our favourite power cows. Pride 9F is a tanky, square made cow with a very good udder and a nice square foot shape.

66M | JANUARY 29 2024 | 2366981

98M | FEBRUARY 8 2024 | 2368102

We really like the added rib shape and softness in the Good Time Charlies. His daughters are making great cows. Backed by the Auburn cow family that has been producing here for over 25 years.

Stamped with that correct, balanced Charlie look. His dam Becky 97C is still going strong at age 10. She also is the dam of the Arrow 66J bull we retained to use ourselves.

RED WHEEL CHARLIE 107M

This Charlie son has a show stopping precence. He’s got the look! It isn’t a suprise though since his dam is a flush mate to Red Wheel Judge 22G who has done a great job at B-Elle Red Angus. This one is built for the long haul, and I think you will appreciate him more and more as time goes on.

A moderate birth weigh Good Time Charlie son that will be easy fleshing. His dam is alway FAT. Dracarys really adds the doability we all need.

A premier calving ease bull that still has enough length, muscle and growth. His dam is the type we want a whole herd of, we love our Stark daughters. Grand-dam Bridget 87X produced until 14 years of age. We should have flushed her.

Good luck choosing between these Typhoon sons. They are

pod. Raised by another gorgous Stark daughter.

RED

WHEEL complete 121M

We imported the Complete 221 bull from Pieper in Nebraska and used him to clean up our heifers the first year. The second year we gave him all our heifers to breed. We are very impressed with his first calves. Calving ease without giving up size and length or maternal. Updated performance data and EPD’s will be available before the sale. We are waiting on DNA.

Did we save the best for last? Maybe. The youngest bull but he should be a herd bull for someone. Very outcross pedigree for Canada with Complete, Dracarys and Pokerface. His dam is a beautiful Dracarys daugher we purchased from Andersons in our first female sale. Updated performance data and EPD’s will be available before the sale. We are waiting on DNA.
