ew pharmaceutical companies will operate on the Georgian market in the near future,- “ Minister of Health Davit Sergeenko told “Commersant”. According to him, at this stage negotiations are underway, so the Minister refrains from specifying the companies. Georgia should Receive Visa-Free Travel by 2016

he Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament (EP) believes Georgia should be granted a visa free regime in 2016, once the country fulfils its obligations and commitments. An eight-member delegation of the Foreign Affairs Committee, led by Chairman
Elmar Brok, visited Georgia last week and were introduced to the current situation and the recent changes implemented in the country. The delegation welcomed the country’s efforts to carry out vast and varied reforms, as well as its implementation of the Association Agreement (AA) and the Visa Liberalisation Action Plan (VLAP). Competition Agency to Keep Examining Major Markets after Exposure of Oil Importers
M
onopolist companies in the pharmaceutical, wheat, kerosene, gas, coffee and other major markets may be imposed penalty sanctions in the near future. As reported, for the first time in Georgia,
the Competition Agency has exposed a cartel collusion of major oil products importers. The companies have to pay 55 million GEL fines. This decision signifies the government is seriously thinking of curbing the market monopolist companies.

Parliament to Discuss Antidumping Bill in Autumn
W
ork on the antidumping bill has been suspended at the Economy Ministry. Parliament is waiting for the answer from the Ministry. The law prohibits the importers to set dramatically lower prices on products compared to the prices on the domestic market, since the purpose of these actions, in many cases, is to oust the local companies.
