Georgia Ranks 5 in terms of Economic Freedom
Inexhaustible Stream of Pledges and Hunting Pensioners’ Votes The 2016 parliamentary elections will be held in several weeks. Before, active election campaigns are underway. The shorter period is, discussions over political pledges, their feasibility and implementation ways intensifies. The Caucasus Business Week (CBW) inquired how economic experts evaluate election pledges of leading political forces, how they appraise strategical views of the election participants and in general, whether political parties have real pledges with focus on economic development. The interviews have showed that economic experts have diverse opinion on the existing reality. Economist Rati Abuladze: Economic policy rhetorics in the Georgian political space is inefficient. Economic programs of political parties participating in elections may be appraised as inexhaustible stream of pledges, standard generalized programs, economic approaches based on only populism.

Georgia will export more than 95% of its goods and services to the world’s biggest market without additional taxes. Georgia and China have completed negotiations on free trade regime. More than 95% of Georgian goods and services will enter the Chinese market without additional taxes. Since China represents Georgia’s 4th biggest trade partner, we should expect that foreign trade intensity will further increase with this country. The list of products that will be exempted from imports taxes, include wines, mineral waters, agriculture products as main exports items. This information was released by the Georgian government. Negotiations lasted 7 months and were conducted in 3 stages. The Georgian Authorities are proud to have conducted one of the shortest free trade negotiations with China.
