Spotlight 2019 – Tbilisi to host Key Marketing Event of 2019 Spotlight 2019 is coming - the event full of inspirational stories and motivation. This platform enables many successful people to introduce their interesting innovations and extraordinary ideas in 2019. The Spotlight 2019 festival will be held on December 15. Ako Akhalaia, the founder of the Marketer.ge site, noted that the event is traditionally sponsored by the Bank of Georgia. “We invite people engaged in marketing, PR, design. We will listen to their stories, and so on”, Ako Akhalaia noted. The event is primarily composed of three formats. The first part includes panel discussions on interesting topics. Simultaneously, lectures will be delivered. The most important part will be in the evening, where speakers will transmit their inspirations to other participants for

15 minutes, Ako Akhalaia said. “Spotlight was first held in 2013. 4,000 applicants were registered that year. Because of our format, we do not want to hold this event at the Tbilisi Philharmonic or similar locations, because this format doesn’t work. The objective of the project is to bring the art industry closer to their customers. Consequently, relevant and interested agencies will be allowed to host industry representatives at their own offices. According to my information, we have already received many requests”, Akhalaia noted. As for outcomes and specific changes in the industry that have taken place since 2013, Ako Akhalaia noted that, previously, people engaged in this industry were less well known, and they were not invited anywhere. Today, the situation has changed radically, he said. “Our project has actualized these people. Moreover, our efforts have become international in scale. Thanks to the knowledge and experience acquired in Georgia, people receives international orders. For example, in 2013 Vato Kavtaradze won the most prestigious ad award-Eurobest. When they published this information, it had only 20 LIKES. Nobody appreciated this back then. Today, it has received 1,200 LIKES from only our team. People share this information and, in general, this has become very popular. We believe in creativity, because all

these efforts are driven by the economy”, Ako Akhalaia said. Bank of Georgia Brand Manager Solo Tsitsuashvili explains that the objective of the campaign is to unite and promote people. As for the interests of Bank of Georgia, Tsitsuashvili explains that banking institutions are to foster interested and zealous people, to demonstrate and bring about their real potential. Consequently, Spotlight, with its speakers and relevant topics is a platform where beginners can use this opportunity. Specific issues, specific cases will be represented and discussed at the event. As to how important these events are for Bank of Georgia, and whether Spotlight and other events are part of the bank’s ecosystem, if the bank is a sponsor or promoter, Tsitsuashvili states that Bank of Georgia has made this a priority.

fulfilling orders represents our competitor. However, we’ve man-aged to set prio-rities. Our intellectual resources allow us to satisfy our clients’ special requirements in the shortest possible period. Consequently, there is a certain competitive advantage. The competitive advantage is that DELTA is able to hold resource exams or various ballistic tests in Georgia in a very brief period. Ultimately, we act faster than our competitors”, Ucha Dzodzuashvili said. According to the DELTA director general, its products are widely employed by Georgian military forces, and this cooperation will further deepen. “The Georgian Defense Ministry has shown a lot of interest in our products, and has undertaken all possible efforts to widely introduce DELTA products into the Georgian armed forces. Over the past few years, our company has supplied personal safety systems to our armed forces. This tendency will further develop. Our combat vehicles are used in the army. Intensive work will be needed to adjust our facilities to the Defense Ministry’s internal regulations, and fit the army’s operational structure. On this topic, we have received great support from the Defense Ministry, and we believe we are able to satisfy the Defense Ministry requirements thanks to DELTA’s technical capabilities”, Dzodzuashvili noted.

Namely, we plan to repair Air-to-Air missile systems for one of these countries. At this stage, negotiations are underway, with our active participation, to begin the project, and to convert Air-to-Air missiles into the Surface-to-Surface missiles, and to launch the supply of new missiles to various countries. International partners have shown a lot of interest in these projects”, Ucha Dzodzuashvili noted. This agreement was concluded with TbilAviaMsheni to make use of disordered factories and equipment, he explained. ‘We have signed this agreement to respond to this challenge. The LEPL DELTA military-technical center has concluded a new agreement with JSC TbilAviaMsheni (TAM) to develop the aircraft industrial base, and introduce new exports products to the plant. The new products include projects for transforming Air-toAir missiles into the Surface-to-Air missiles, Delta director general Ucha Dzodzuashvili told BusinessPartner. Based on a recently signed agreement, DELTA is entitled to restore the outdated and disorderly industrial works owned by TbilAviaMsheni, and use them in its production. DELTA will use this authority and its international reputation to strengthen the aviation sector, Dzodzuashvili said. DELTA has accumulated a great reputation, and this is shown by the delivery of certain military systems to military organizations of the USA, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Bangladesh and so on, Dzodzuashvili noted. “This has enabled us to assist the

Municipal Foundation to assist Center Point Customers The Tbilisi City Hall has decided to establish a special foundation to assist customers hurt by the Center Point development company. The foundation is to attract money transfers from various development companies in exchange for providing various preferential municipal services.

The accumulated funds will be spent on finishing Center Point projects. Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze introduced the mentioned project to representatives of construction companies. Deputy Mayor Ilia Eloshvili explained that those companies wishing to take over unfinished or unconstructed projects of Center Point are able to make use of city hall services with exceptional regulatory preferences, within reasonable.

‘We have differentiated between two key problems in the Center Point case: first, unconstructed buildings, which have not been built physically and secondly, those buildings that are considered finished, and where customers have received apartments, but living conditions remain unbearable. Consequently, today, we offered the construction sector the ability to accumulate financial resources for a special foundation in exchange for our preferences. As a result, initially, seven unrepaired buildings will be completed. As for the unconstructed buildings, we are conducting negotiations, and we have offered development companies the ability to finish these projects under competitive and acceptable conditions. We have already established a commission for unfinished projects. The commission is authorized to provide certain regulatory preferences for companies engaged in finishing these projects. Naturally, these preferences will remain within a reasonable framework. These preferences must not distort or damage other buildings, other zones of the capital city”, Eloshvili noted. How have municipal preferences inspired companies to transfer finances to these foundation? What kind of preferences should the city hall offer to companies to accumulate the required sums for foundations? Who will control the reasonability of these preferences? The Caucasus Business Week (CBW) has contacted representatives of the construction companies, who have attended this meeting with the Tbilisi Mayor. The majority of them welcome the idea of accumulating financial resources in exchange for enjoying bureaucratic preferences, obtaining coefficients and so on, if the relevant finances tackle the problems of customers damaged by Center Point. However, the control mechanism, the reasonable employment of these services, and the process’ transparency, must be ensured. At the same time, some mistakes may emerge in the initial phase of the project, as representatives of the development companies noted. “As the meeting at City Hall updated us on problems in the enforcemen mechanisms of the resolution, and inquired as to our position, and we appreciate these efforts. As for services today, granting additional coefficients are banned in the capital city, but city hall assures us that it is possible to increase the coefficient if companies are ready to pay additional money. Today, there is no coefficient fee. Consequently, the state budget loses nothing. At the same time, the service includes a resolution of certain bureaucratic barriers at the city hall; if the process is protracted and problematic and so on, we appeal to city hall, and say that we are ready to pay a certain amount to the foundation for damaged customers. For example, If I am obliged to arrange a parking place for 200 vehicles, I would offer to arrange a parking place for 100 vehicles, and pay the relevant fees to this foundation. City Hall prefers that a smaller parking place, or one additional floor, in exchange for resolving the problems of 6,000 injured customers. City Hall is ready to offer certain reasonable concessions, if these efforts ensures real assistance for Center Point’s injured customers.

If I were an opposition member, I would say that this is a mechanism for corruption, but I am an unbiased person, and I believe this is a good idea in general, though a control mechanism is required”: ARCI company director Tornike Abuladze said. “The point is that a developer is able to spend money to get certain preferences, but this is less of a problem when compared to the problems of Center Point. If it turns out that somebody builds multistoried buildings after having paid 5,000 GEL, naturally, similar cases raise questions. Building one structure must not distort 10 others. However, decision-making is a huge problem in the country, and City Hall may make mistakes, but it fails to take decisions.

I do not agree with the City Hall in many issues, and I do not think anybody criticizes the municipality more than me, but I believe this is the right idea. Certain defects are expected to emerge in the initial phase, but we should correct them. We should not consider this a corruption scheme, and we should not refuse this project”, Abuladze said. Irakli Rostomashvili, director of the Developers Association, assures that the offer mechanism for accumulating required funds is a right decision. “We should somehow free these 6,000 customers from their burdens. Half of these families live in unbearable conditions. The majority of their apartments remain without doors and windows. I believe that certain decisions should be taken. Our industry genuinely regrets this situation. I most definitely back the idea that our sector does its best to arrange elevators, facades, power supply and so on in these buildings. What other steps should we take? Rcheulishvili cannot stay imprisoned forever. They have made mistakes, and disappointed so many people, but we live in a merciful country. City Hall sees that Center Point is a huge headache, and they offered this mechanism. There is a path for cooperation, while the National Bank has set regulations. It is great that City Hall does not have a habit of making serfs of people”, Rostomashvili noted.

Rumsfeld Foundation Program and its Opportunities The Rumsfeld Foundation’s program for Central Asia, the South Caucasus, Mongolia and Afghanistan contains countries with different political and economic systems and potential, with a focus on economic and business relations between these countries. What specific opportunities does this program provide for Georgia? Special guests have analyzed this issue for BusinessPartner. A special business platform will be prepared to make use of the opportunities in the 100-milion large market of the South Caucasus and Central Asia. The focus will be placed on trade and tourism development between the countries, Nona Mamulashvili, founder of Caucasus Economic Institute and President of

Swiss Chamber of Commerce told the TV Program BusinessPartner. The TV program participants discussed the Rumsfeld program’s potential. The program unites the 10 countries of Central Asia and South Caucasus, including Mongolia and Afghanistan. This program was launched 10 years ago, and it allows representatives of the participant countries to pay a 6-week visit to USA to meet US officials, representatives of private companies, media agencies and nongovernmental organizations. The last visit took place on October 1 to November 7. The participants discussed the outlook for developing economic relations between these countries. At the same time, the format placed special emphasis on

establishing a free trade regime between the USA and Georgia. “This was one of our topics, and a lot of questions were posed about this issue. The point is that Georgia, with 3.7 million residents, seems to be a less attractive market for the USA, but symbolism really matters. This is a political decision about deepening the relationship with Georgia and develop our partnership with the USA”, Nona Mamulashvili said. During their last visit, the participants stressed that Georgia is a leading reform-minded country in the region, and it acts as a certain bridge to alleviate access to countries in Greater Asia. At this stage, the volume of trade between these 10 countries does not exceed 11 billion USD, and this 100-million market is not made good usage of, Mamulashvili stressed. “During this 6 week period, we have seen that trade relations and tourists turnover between these countries aren’t very important. Many of these countries do not have even direct contacts, despite being neighbors. Thanks to these 6-week program, we have realized that this region has enormous potential, but this potential remains unemployed. There is no platform to meet and talk with each other. In this case I mean business – what opportunities exist, what barriers exist, how to overcome these barriers and improve economic relations”, Nona Mamulashvili explained. Because of these circumstances, the 10 participant countries agreed to establish a joint business platform, she noted. “Consequently, we had the idea to establish a new business platform, where business organizations from these countries talk with each other about the available potential and opportunities, and establish tighter and a more useful, cooperation format. This platform will operate as an organization. Further details will be unveiled in the next TV program”, Nona Mamulashvili told BusinessPartner Rusudan Mamatsashvili, Deputy

Director of National Tourism Administration, says that Georgia is an example for these countries. Namely, Georgia ranks first in terms of revenues and international tourists. Kazakhstan ranks second. As for tourism potential between these countries, there are serious opportunities to expand in this direction, she pointed out. Phenomenal growth is seen in Uzbekistan, she explained. After the beginning of direct flights, growth was at 120%. Mamatsashvili explains that the National Tourism Administration has been working to popularize Georgia’s tourism potential in the field of recreation healing. “Our cooperation is of crucial importance for attracting attention from distant markets. We have paid

visits to the USA, come up with many plans on how to arrange a joint product that would be attractive for American tourists. We desire and hope that we can appoint direct flights to the USA and tourist turnover will considerably increase”, Mamatsashvili noted. As for the benefits the proposed business platform is expected to bring to 10 countries in the South Caucasus and Central Asia, Mamatsashvili explained that the National Tourism Administration of Georgia will actively participate in platform development, because cooperation with these countries and attracting tourists is of vital importance for Georgia. This platform creates additional opportunities in this regard, she concluded.

Giorgi Lolua: :The Best Marketing is the Product that we create’’ Interview with the Head of Marketing at Hausart Ltd and Hausart Development Ltd, Giorgi Lolua. Tell us about how you got into the field of marketing, and what factors played an important role in choosing this profession? I entered marketing from business, spontaneously. I had no practice or education in this field. I have been in this company for 15 years, since its beginning. I am also a co-founder. What challenges do you face as a leader in marketing, during a time of technological change? All the new things that come with time, change every year in small steps. Looking at it 15 years ago, the situation today is radically different. Trends that are introduced in marketing and PR, and the approach to advertising marketing, is gradually improving. Today, for example, television is replaced by social networks. Social media is much more popular and productive than it was 10-15 years ago. This niche has actively taken over the television space. In general, like everyone else, we try to stay in fashion. What has changed in the field in the last 5 years, and what changes are expected? I find it difficult to make a specific forecast. Changes will definitely happen in 5-6 years, however, and it’s unknown to what extent. I think that dynamic will continue. That is, social media is conquering the market, and has not yet come to terms with what we need replaced. 10 years ago, we couldn’t have imagined that social media would become so active, thus there might see a new field, and need to do some replacement, quickly. What do you think are the most important qualities a marketing manager should have, and what is his or her role in the organization

in general? For the last 5 years, we have not really taken the costs and priorities of marketing, as we consider the best marketing the product we create. Marketing is a way of wrapping up. This packaging comes in two forms: first - when you want it to look better than it actually is, and the second -to deliver all the great things you do for the customer. We chose the second path, that is, we are quality oriented, so our product does its own marketing. That's why we don't devote much time and resources to marketing tricks. What do you do to keep the organization from falling behind on new trends, and keep applying innovative approaches to marketing? We are actively working on social networks. We keep up-to-date on our activities, keeping users informed about the processes. In

terms of visuals, the website, interface updates and social media is in constant control. We are trying to deliver a new version every 2-3 years, so that it won't be boring. What’s your organization’s business model, in terms of marketing? The development model, the marketing strategy that we have developed is primarily expressed by its self-descriptiveness, its quality. All this creates a background for the client to be interested in all the innovations and objects we carry out. One word that describes your job. Time. The most useful advice you’ve ever received in your life? One can’t go far without diligence.
