CAVE COLLECTIVE CUSTOM COLLABORATIONS

CAVE COLLECTIVE X MR. LARKIN

Cecil Beaton’s work and lifestyle, Louise Bourgeois’s fabric works and Man Ray’s hands painted by Picasso are all themes inspiring Mr. Larkin’s collaboration with Cave Collective. Responding to these images and ideas, the duo created a small series of art/object - accessories to accompany Mr. Larkin’s AW15 collection. A palette of pinks and peaches drawn from natural dyes; avocodo pits and skins along with madder root were selected for these pieces on 100% Silk Habu Textile thread. Hand sculpted white brass metal pieces accent and bring weight to each piece. The collection channels its artistic inspirations with a strong feminine aesthetic whilst evoking the duo’s continued interest in ritual and ceremony. www.mrlarkin.net

CAVE COLLECTIVE X UNDERLINE PROJECTS

Cave Collective teamed up with Underline Projects to create a collection as an installation in Casey Burry’s gallery and boutique. ‘Bronze and Madder’ Cave Collective’s most recent collection of one of a kind artefacts and wearable objects continues to reflect the artists’ intrigue with ceremony and transcendence. ‘Bronze and Madder’ explores ideas around the creation of ritualistic tools inspired by the inherent magic of nature. Like parts of a treasure, each object in this collection was handmade with the idea to create a tool that carries a special meaning, a unique quality, a gift that allows us to feel in touch with the energy of life. Choosing the limited palette of white and red (coral), we drew inspiration from tibetan, egyptian and native american beliefs where white reflects upon the symbolism of purity, light and innocence accented with hints of red, a sacred color that signifies powerful rituals and deeds. It is the color of passion, transmuted to discriminating wisdom. Particular consideration went into the choice of materials and production methods for these pieces - the finest natural yarns were hand dyed in madder, used as a natural dye since ancient times. Similarly inspired by age old materials and methods, the individually sculpted bronze pieces were cast using the lost wax method. www.underlineprojects.com

CAVE COLLECTIVE X NO. 6 STORE

Cave Collective collaborated with No. 6 to produce a small collection of necklaces and bracelets. Using our signature pastel palette achieved through natural dyes, this collection takes soft spring hues found against the urban landscape of our studio in Brooklyn. Flowering blossom trees amalgamated throughout concrete and brick buildings with thinner silhouettes and shapes that are reminiscent of themes that reflect upon ritual and ceremony. Fiber pieces dyed in Madder, eucalyptus and logwood using silk linen threads and lost wax cast bronze pieces. no6store.com

CAVE COLLECTIVE X ANTHROPOLOGIE

Cave Collective teamed up with Anthropologie to produce a winter collection. Inspired by icy winter skies, ice crystals, frozen seas, the darkness of the northern skies lit up by a muted sun, we want to evoke the mood of a cold winter warmed up by ceremony, with plumes of smoke from ancient fires and flickering lights warming the sky...... This collection is called Ice Cave. Fiber pieces are dyed in red cabbage, woad, eucalyptus and chlorophyll with silver metallic rope combined with lost wax cast bronze pieces.

CAVE COLLECTIVE X NEED SUPPLY

Luscious colour combinations and bold, sculptural shapes drive this collection for Need Supply. Celebrating the soothing warmth of pastels accented by subtle additions of bronze, this collection essentially works with form - each necklace can be shaped around the body -bringing together the qualities of wool and metal. Chunky necklaces featuring large tassels combine warm pastel shades with locally sourced wools and naturally dyed yarns. Small, carefully crafted bronze pieces add a touch of shimmer and bring contrast to the soft comfort and richness of the fiber’s texture and colour. Raw, extravagant yet comforting to the touch, this collection oozes warmth and protection whilst expressing boldness, allure and sensuality. Fiber pieces are dyed in madder root, indigo, woad, eucalyptus, and red onion skins with hand sculpted bronze pieces using the lost wax method. www.needsupply.com
