We thought a little background might be of interest so here it is... Intro kindly written by Jason Mills, one of the founders. “Gusset was founded in the summer of 1995 by two riding friends Paul Sorrell and Jason Mills. It started as a little project printing t-shirts, hoodies and a product called ‘Hookers’ that were replacement springs for Pit Bull brakes. Although the pair had great plans for the brand they found that at the time they didn’t have the time or money to take the brand as far as it could go, Jason was busy with a band and Paul was out of work at the time. The opportunity soon came along to pass the company over to Ison, both partners had known Lloyd and the team at Ison for some years and felt that with their contacts and distribution network that Gusset would be in good hands”. -Jason Mills. Since those early days, Gusset has developed into a multi discipline company. Gusset’s reputation for producing quality parts that work and don’t cost the earth came initially from the MTB market and has now crossed over into many other disciplines. A good example is that Fixed Gear Freestyle riders have recognised this and parts such as the multi-butted Open Prison Handlebars (already a firm favourite amongst dirt jumpers) adorn many top riders bikes worldwide. Gusset has always been run with rider’s needs very much at the forefront. This allows a sense of freedom when it comes to product development and in particular colours of products. Gusset actually listen to the end-users of their products and it shows! In fact the creative forces behind Gusset are all riders (on a variety of bikes) and have a good understanding of product uses. Gusset also supports many riders and events across various disciplines from MTB to Fixed to BMX to XC… Currently, we like to think that the company retains the original ethos that it started with, parts developed as the need arises. Making bikes work better is at times extremely taxing, but it always pays off. There’s little more rewarding than getting the call thanking you for making a bike work better than ever before, putting the smile back on the rider’s face. Enjoy the catalogue, it’s yours to keep.

Chute 180mm Adaptor The standard mounting system on Chute brakes allows it to fit on a Manitou post mount fork bracket without any adaptor… but ONLY to accept 160mm rotor (I/o the regular 180mm). These simple spacers & XL bolts lift the caliper up to accept the regular 180mm disc when fitted onto a Manitou post type fork mounting. Kit includes two spacers and two bolts.

Soft, tacky, translucent Polyurethane brake pads. Squealer pads provide premium braking performance on alloy rims and, as a side effect, usually squeal like hell... (hence the name). Hardware included allows for angle adjustment... but, whatever the angle, don’t expect these pads to be silenced.

Triple Bearing
Trident ISIS BB Triple Bearing: This Trident unit uses 3 bearings (2 on the drive side) to reduce the load on each bearing and hence lengthen the bearing life. Dip Centre: Many frames have either tube ends, or a non machined centre to the BB shell. This can present a problem for some BB units that do not “Dip” in the middle area… as the BB can risk fouling the inner BB shell during installation, which can result in misalignment, and consequent cross threading of the frame BB threads. The Trident unit does have the required centre clearance for use with most frames without this problem (However, extreme care should still be utilized when installing cartridge BBs – to completely avoid this common problem). Cr-Mo TAF cups: ISIS BB cups have to be produced in a relatively thin wall thickness – to allow maximum space for bearings. Lightweight, thin alloy cups run the risk of cracking under hard use due to their lack of base material strength. Further, aluminium is a relatively soft material, and therefore cups produced in aluminium can be prone to the delicate threads breaking up on installation and extraction during servicing – especially if the frame threads are not 100% clean. This can result in major frame thread problems, as the broken alloy shards can bind further and can eventually cause the frame BB threads to become ripped out also. 68x113 E-type (suitable for use with chain devices if desired). Whilst some of the external bearing systems have provided a limited improvement, after 5 years of use, we are confident that our patented 4 bearing IASC unit with Cr-Mo cups is THE best solution: our Gusset patented I.A.S.C. BB system installs easily with a UN type tool to give optimised bearing adjustment and additionally forms an effective dirt and water internal shield. The IASC system is also fully serviceable and also allows easy replacement of the individual Industrial cartridge bearings as required.

Pigmy OKR Bolts
XL One Key Release bolts. OKR bolts are long enough to pass beyond the spline body of the crank boss, thus enabling the installer to ‘start’ the bolt into the BB axle to actually USE the bolts to pull the cranks onto the axle. Woodstock 853 Gusset have taken the groundbreaking Reynolds 853 Pigmy cranks to the next level by incorporating our Woodstock axle spline drive system. What is Woodstock? (Apart from the spiritual home of flower power) the crank arms are press- fitted to the 48 spline axle, which provides a solid interface and positive torque to the axle. The machined alloy Woodstock chainrings (or spider) have a load spreading “flower petal shaped” drive Cr-Mo insert which is also a press fit to the 48 spline axle. Drive torque is transferred straight from the crank to the chainring via the axle, negating the requirement of using a separate drive pin. Advantages: • Lighter weight - no torque boss or drive pin. • Evenly spread drive torque - no pin focused driving torque. • Direct drive to the axle. • Micro adjustable chainline and Q-factor - Spacing between crank and chainring is now possible. Woodstock 853 boss-less cranks. For use with Woodstock series spline drive chainwheels and spiders. 19mm x 48 Spline axle fitting. 165, 170 or 175mm. Finished in black chrome. So what’s in a number ? Reynolds introduced their 853 material in1995. The strength to weight ratio of 853 is equal to that of quality titanium. Normal chrome molybdenum steel will lose strength in the joints after the heat has been applied, 853 INCREASES in strength as the weld cools. This unique air hardening property of Reynolds 853 provides additional stiffness through reduced microyielding at the joints, allowing stiffer units with excellent fatigue strength (when compared to standard chrome molybdenum).

DHS chains
Geared DH/BSX superstrong derailleur chains. The last thing you want to when you stamp hard on the pedals (or whack a log) is the chain to give-up. The DHS offers 20% more strength than a standard derailleur chain. The bottom part of the outer chain plate is chamfered in much the same way as a normal geared chain (allowing regular gear shift pick-up), however, the upper part of the chain plate is bigger than normal. The bigger surface area plate increases the tensile strength and strike endurance of the chain. Special heat treatment after riveting increases the pin’s integrity with the plates, making the chain stronger. Self-lubricating system.
