January 15th, 2021

Dear Hiring Manager at Northwestern Mutual of Nebraska: I am wri ng to apply for a Sales Internship that I heard about through an employee of Northwestern Mutual who spoke in one of my classes on the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) campus. With my customer service and sales experiences, and my ability to be detail-oriented and organized, I believe that I would be a great addi on to Northwestern Mutual’s team. In May of 2023, I will graduate for UNO with my Bachelor of Science in Business Administra on with concentra ons in Sales and Marke ng. The classes I have taken have taught me many things about what it means to be in sales. I believe my experiences working in retail have been just as valuable. As an employee at The Buckle for 2 years, I have seen many cases of unhappy customers. If we did not have a customer’s clothing size, I did my best to ask ques ons about his or her style and tried to find something similar. Instead of being discouraged, the customer was able to leave the store triumphantly with a new ou it. Each customer has a slightly different style. I learned that I needed to uncover what their style was before jumping in and making sugges ons. This personal a en on and needs discovery was my key to being the top sales associate for 18 out of 24 months at my loca on. Along with my interpersonal skills, I am very detail-oriented and organized. Star ng in August of 2020, I have been the secretary of the Student Marke ng Associa on (SMA) at UNO. My responsibili es range from sending out reminder emails to SMA members, upda ng our membership list at least once every semester, as well as taking notes for all our mee ngs. With this documenta on, the organiza on is able to accomplish more events and be more effec ve in our mee ngs. I believe that my customer service and sales experiences as well as my detail-oriented and organiza onal skills would make me a valuable contribu on to Northwestern Mutual. I look forward to hearing from you and learning more about this internship. I can be reached via my cell phone, (402) 554-2365, or by email awilliams@gmail.com. Thank you so much for your considera on. Sincerely, Alex Williams
