Job Description Major Duties •
Works with departments to create marketing and promotional materials.
•
Assists departments with publication design and development. Copy writes and edits publications.
•
Coordinates publicity for all departments, including news releases, media relations, and acts as liaison with University Relations.
•
Works closely with departments to plan and coordinate special events.
•
Assists director of Development with College events and publications.
•
May supervise student intern staff.
Desired Qualifications •
Master’s degree in a relevant field.
•
Additional
Minimum Qualifications •
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations or another related field.
•
One year experience doing layout and design work.
•
One year experience producing print and electronic media.
•
Strong oral and written communication skills.
•
Excellent computer application and Web design skills.
Job Description Things you will do that aren’t in the job description: • Assist departments in establishing and using available technology for communicating with students, alumni and other constitutents. • Serve as College representative at alumni, student, faculty and university events. Represent College on University task forces, commitees to maintain University partnerships which are in the interest of the College. • Serve on committees that steer the direction of print and online marketing materials and strategic communications for the University. Specifically, work with Career and Student Employment Services, Alumni Relations, WMU Communicators, Visual Identity Team, and, indirectly, Web Users Group. • Assist Director of Development with identification of alumni, alumni news, concept and creation of promotional materials for campaigns, special events, and specific needs. Increase electronic networking presence for director by creating and updating interactive web opportunities. • Procure and keep inventory of gifts/premiums for events, students, and alumni. • Produce weekly event/news eblast for CAS Faculty/Staff • Publish quarterly Insider newsletter to alumni and constituents. • Facilitate editing, design, and distribution of 12-14 department newsletters per year. • Use large-format design to produce banners, posters and bulletin boards. • Event and publicity photography • Maintain annual Marketing and Events budget and contract/student employee budgets and hiring. • Develop, produce and distribute podcasts and informational videos for events, departments, and advising.
