Reconciliation Week Liturgy

From The Principal Dear Parents and Caregivers,

CBC – Community of Faith Now when the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues [languages], as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 2:1-4 A number of significant events occurred this week which remind us that CBC is a community of Faith.

National Reconciliation Week Celebrations (27 May – 3 June) were held over until Monday due to the rain on Friday. The College commemorated the event by a variety of events centred on the theme Let’s talk Reconciliation. Some of the events included a liturgy, flying of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flag, planning of an Indigenous welcome dinner for present and prospective CBC Indigenous families and integration of Indigenous studies across the curriculum.

Grace and be a vital link in communicating information across the Archdiocese during the year of Grace.’ Finally, the 250th Anniversary of the birth of our Founder Blessed Edmund Rice resonates with the message of Pentecost to Love our neighbour. Blessed Edmund’s love for children on the margins was exemplified in his calling to provide education, food and clothing to those in need.

Pentecost Sunday reminded us that God is with us, that God graces us with the gift of the Holy Spirit as a reminder of His deep love of humanity and our planet. We are called in Luke’s Gospel to resonate this love to our neighbour. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind and [love] your neighbour as yourself. Luke 10:27 Secondly, Oliver Megins and Jack Poole were commissioned by Archbishop Philip Wilson at the Cathedral on Sunday as Ambassadors for the Year of Grace. As part of the commissioning blessing the Archbishop said: At the beginning of this Year of Grace we wish to acknowledge the important role of the Ambassadors who will work with our communities to ‘start afresh from Christ’. … They will assist in promoting the Year of
