Santa visits the Junior Campus!

• Mr Chris Block, College Board Chair and the Board • Mr Shaun Clarke and the College Leadership Team • Jake Tollenaar and the Student Leadership Team • Presidents of our many Parents and Old Collegian Clubs and Auxiliaries.

From The Principal Dear Parents and Caregivers, This final newsletter for 2012 is written with every blessing for a safe, happy and holy Christmas.

I especially thank our talented and amazing members of staff across all three campuses. You have graced us with your presence and contributed to the continuing success of our College.

Staffing News I wish to acknowledge the dedication, handwork and, sadly, the departure of the following members of staff who leave us this year:

On behalf of the entire College community I extend my prayers and deep gratitude to the departing students, staff and families. I especially bless our Year 12 Graduates who celebrated their Graduation Dinner at the Convention Centre with over 800 parents and friends on Thursday night.

• Donna Fennell, Ashima Suri, Anne Hamilton, Sue O’Connor, Anne-Marie Procter, Teresa Conte, Glenda Kent, Jessica Obushak and Margaret Duddy.

I thank the following governing and leadership bodies who have led us with much wisdom and prayerful guidance:

Long Serving Staff

• The Christian Brothers • Catholic Education SA and Edmund Rice Australia and especially my Principal Consultant Mr Terry Roberts

• Adam Baird, Marcus Sheehan, Andrzej Skryzpiec, Stephen Kirk, David Molloy and Marcus Sheehan.

I reiterate my Speech Night farewell to our respected and well-loved Mr Ron Mobbs Director of Water Sports who left the College earlier this year. I also acknowledge the departure of the following longer serving members of staff:

Justice and Solidarity

We are committed to justice and peace for all, grounded in a spirituality of action and reflection that calls us to stand in solidarity with those who are marginalised and the Earth itself.

Faith Excellence Community Compassion

• Mr Denis McCarthy has taught in both Senior and Junior Campuses at the College in his CBC career which began in 1997. He was awarded the status of Advanced Skills Teacher in recognition of his experience in education. • Mr Tom van Ruth began teaching Science at CBC in 2000. He served as Science Curriculum Coordinator and Head of Rowing. Tom re-ignited Geology as a subject at CBC and students have appreciated his passion for astronomy and chess. • Mrs Jacinta Weiss has been employed at the College for the past seven years as the Director of Heritage, Community and Marketing. Jacinta managed our CBC archives museum with distinction. The CBC Museum is a feature of SA History Week tours and also featured in a national exhibition in Canberra in 2011. Jacinta moves to St Columba’s in 2013 as Director of Development.

Merry Christmas
